Went in just for a gift card only one register was open with a long line I know that u can go to self checkout and ask the employee if u can put money in it on there computer today I went the employee tells me can I help u in a rude tone I tell her if I can buy a gift card she tell me to go to a normal checkout even tho she could do it while I wuz waiting I wuz like might as well buy something else I finally make it to the front I tell the front counter lady can I put such and such dollars in it she ignores me after scanning I hold up the gift card again and she also says rudely can I help u I tell her again how much I want on it idk what with these employees and saying can I help u rudely I just feel discriminated all these employees were white and I'm not trying to say there racist but if u treat colored ppl differently than that's exactly what I'm going to assume two employees in total with no customer service I work at McDonald's I know exactly how u should be treating customers and this is just not it I've never had a bad experience majority of these employees are white and old start hiring ppl who aren't old and racist read more

I had the WORST experience at this store last night. My boyfriend and I were there to buy coffee creamer and bagels for morning, as well as some ice cream to eat while watching a late-night movie. We were ready to check out by 9pm and got in the line that said "Express Lane." We waited for about 15 minutes while one of the people ahead of us cashed a check and sent the cashier out gallivanting for something else she wanted. Mind you, this lady had a full cart of groceries and wanted to pay for some with a check, some with a credit card, and some with her Oregon Trail Card. Now, let me point out that the "Express Lane" sign says right on it "Cash or Credit Only. Limit 15 Items." Finally, this lady left and I realized the woman ahead of me had just unloaded her whole cart with probably 65 items onto the belt. This is when I got annoyed because I had 4 items. I said to the clerk, "Excuse me. Which lane is supposed to be the express lane?" She looked at me and said "This one" and laughed. Then the lady with 5 times the amount of groceries allowed said, "There are only 2 lanes open." To which I responded "That does not negate the express lane notation." I could see the clerk had continued to laugh at me and started checking out the woman in front of me...The problem for me was that I was in a hurry and there only were 2 checkers with lines stretching into the aisles. I feel like they should have either called up more checkers, or the clerks should have made sure people followed the signs. I quickly realized nothing was going to change in the the situation and finally gave up and set my stuff down in the middle of everything and walked out. As I left I could hear the clerk still laughing and talking about me to the other lady. The fact is, Safeway's niche is that they are supposed to have good customer service for which you pay a little more, but when that goes completely out the window, they are nothing but an overpriced grocery chain. Pharmacy went above and beyond to fill a urgent prescription over the weekend. Both staff members were helpful and caring.

Wow did you missed the mark last night! 40 people in lines and the 'helper person' (manager of some sort) is focused on closing self checkout because it's 930. I'm sure it has to do w rules, staffing etc. it's so Contrary to 'Good service 101' ... Which would have been to get another check stand open...how about YOU step up Mister 'by the book' Helper person? Instead of just holding a sign and pushing people to over full checkouts. Authorize that overtime! Open another checkout, get creative. Take care of your customer needs. read more

This Safeway has the worst management. I feel bad for the few employees that actually care about their jobs. Having 1 lane open, machines not working in the self check and people with full carts in the self check (because they don't want to be in the cashier lane that is an isle deep). The only thing keeping this place afloat are the people without cars and those people that somehow can always see the good in a situation. I usually can and have defended this store for years. But thankfully I have a car and will no longer defend this chaotic shopping place. read more

The management at this Safeway is lack luster at best. The customer service is horrendous and there are always long lines for check out. This Safeway is completely understaffed and has absolutely NO sense of urgency. I actually drive to a different grocery store miles away even though I live only a short few blocks from this Safeway. It's completely obvious that the management at Forest Grove Safeway has absolutely no business sense or leadership skills. The deli in particular is the worst. The employees have absolutely no Customer service or value any ones time. They take 3 min to put in a pair of gloves while talking with each other in the back. One employee helping a single customer while the other guy in the back ignores everyone else in line. Two gentlemen come in for a special order that was scheduled to be ready at 2:00 pm wasn't ready at 2:20 pm and then told it would be another 45 min. The lack of leadership and support is unacceptable. I would rate this lower but I am unable too. So months later back at Safeway for creamer. I have 10 people in line for the self check and only two regular registers open.... with long lines. This safeway must have the most incompetent and inept management or they just do not care about customer service. Never will come to this location again. read more

customer service I would rate as poor. That's if you can find someone to help you. There product knowledge I would rate as poor as well including management. I feel it's not a very clean place. Could use a remodel with new lighting. Prices on most items I can get at a better price elsewhere. The fact they close one entry down at night also is a poor decision and I get the idea they do it for theft. But then hire a door greater at $10.50 an hour to stand there from 7pm till close. One it would deter shoplifting and two it will greet the customers with a first positive response. Personally I think all big chains should have door greeters for this reason. read more

With few exceptions I've generally had good experiences at this store. Tonight's experience makes me question whether I'll ever return. I've been stopping by on Fridays after work for the 8 piece dark chicken $5 deal. I realize there's often a wait, and was not suprised with the 13 minute wait time for 2 orders of chicken. After 15 minutes I caught the eye of the lady I ordered from and she soon left to go work in the back. I assumed she was putting my order together. After a total of 30 minutes she came out and explained to a couple women in line that the next chicken would be ready in 10 minutes. I then asked if my order was ready. She told me that she had been asked to help out elsewhere and that she didn't have a chance to put my orders in. That's it. No mention of getting my order ready now. Nothing. I walked away in disbelief. Mariah, at the customer service desk, was most apologetic and gave me a voucher for 2 free 8-piece chickens. That's great, but this person showed shockingly poor customer service skills and I was given no assurances that this person would be spoken to and given instructions on how to better service their customers. I'm honestly not sure how to order 2 orders of this chicken and have it ready in any reasonable amount of time. I have tried on two other Fridays to get 2 orders of this chicken and both times there were issues. At least I left with dinner both of those nights, unlike tonight. read more

DON'T SHOP HERE!!! Manager Teresa, need more training!! My parents shop at Safeway when i was going up as a kid! since Albertsons bought Safeway.......there going in the bumps. I want so much to support this place - it's the nearest grocery store to me, and I know that many of the people working there are my neighbors. I don't even mind that most of the things they have are more expensive than Fred Meyer's in Cornelius. But the store needs so much improvement. Biggest complaint: there is not enough staff. Expect a long wait at the check out lines (usually just one open), at the bread counter, and at any other counter where someone has to help you. And good luck finding someone to help you if you need such while shopping. Second biggest complaint: it's dark and dingy. The area where the carts are - or are supposed to be (they are usually all gone) - usually has trash on the ground, and the lights around the edges of the store are dark - low or no lights - making it look like the store is about to close. The only good things about it: they do have a coffee bar, and the music is always fun. But neither of those things make me want to shop there. Hire more staff, make the staff much more visible, brighten and clean the place up, and this would be a terrific store I would frequent once a week. As it is now, I go maybe once a month. read more

This store is the worst. Always understaffed. The U-Scan normally has at least one register down. Even during the busiest time of the day, when the lines are so long they are going down the aisles there are not enough checkers to open all the check-stands. Plus the bottle area is has to few machines takes forever to return your cans and bottles. And the employees are not really what I would call over friendly. Shop at your own peril. read more

I would give this store 4 or 5 stars, because they have been doing a great job bringing in new products, stocking healthier and organic foods, and everyone that I encounter there is nice. However, I'm giving them 2 stars due to the fact that in the past 2 months, I've purchased MANY items that are expired and I don't realize it until im home. For some reason it's always the pricey health drinks - I've purchased green juice a few times and it ended up being way past the expiration date. Yesterday I grabbed my husband some kombucha and both bottles ($4 each) were expired 3 months ago! Now I have to double check every single thing I put in my cart when I shop there. read more

This pharmacy is terrible and has been for years. I switched so fast to Fred Meyer even though it means driving farther. They take forever to fill scripts..even simple refills of basic meds..called in a refill 24 hours in advance and went to pick it up and was told it wouldn't be ready for at least 30 minutes since they were still "working on it." The women behind the counter are always rude and completely unhelpful. God I hate this place..gotta get my bf to switch now! read more
