I have been to this place countless times…read more I love funky little grocery stores in small towns and this is no exception. This is just that. They have pretty much a little of everything. Food, drinks, cat food, a big selection of work gloves (these are the kinds of places I always look for good gloves, believe it or not) -- they even cut keys with an old school key machine. I love the old mechanical horse just inside the front door for kids......and the old signs advertising tuna brands that have not been sold in MANY years. The people were friendly to us, parking is super easy, and it is a convenient stop on the way out to other small towns.

This place reminded me of the small grocery store my family frequented when i was a child many years ago. Chester's is a great, slightly small, full service market with prices that are not sky high. The produce section was actually very well stocked, as were the meat and seafood areas. In short, my grand daughter and i found everything we needed and didn't have to leave town to do so. The store was clean, and well stocked and organized. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. It was very easy to find, and the large parking lot made it easy to get in and out of.

The walk-in beer cooler is accessible from both sides of the store and the selection of beer, cider, and wine was extraordinary! They had a variety of local and non-local, and all price points so you definitely have options depending on your mood. There were a ton of produce and fresh food options that I saw as well, even though we didn't purchase anything from those. I never caught the cashier's name, but she was a shorter, dark haired lady and was so so nice! She talked to me about my wine option and reassured my choice was a good one! Definitely recommend stopping here whether you're passing through, camping, or enjoying a beach getaway!

I appreciate having an occasional glass of wine, and expect that it's difficult to find a quality wine selection in a small town that probably depends very heavily upon the tourist trade. Frankly, most towns known for heavy tourist traffic usually don't do well when it comes to what they stock in wines -- they usually aren't that impressive. I was truly shocked to see an excellent selection of highly-rated wines, especially for domestic Cabernet Sauvignon. If you enjoy having an excellent wine, this is the place to find it.

The entire store is full and beautiful. Current promotion from 4/27/22 to 6/7/22 = 25% off local Oregon wines + additional 10% when you buy 6 bottles or more! Celebrating Oregon wine month. Atmosphere - Above average. Plenty of parking. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 11pm. Departments - Bakery, produce, meat, seafood and of course beer/wine. Other services - Propane, redbox, rug doctor, western union. Service - Good. However, the fruit and vegetable selection is frequently a huge frustration. Everyday fresh items are in poor condition or have run out. And sadly, the prices do not reflect the quality. I might accept a lettuce that I'll have to throw the outer leaves away, if the price was reduced. That doesn't happen. Sometimes I stare at the produce area and just want to weep. I've spoken to the manager who basically shrugs and says he has no control over what they send him. I'm not sure I believe that, but I'm tired of speaking to him. This situation is turning Clatskanie into something of a food desert for people who don't want to travel out of town once or twice a week just for produce.
