I used to go to this Safeway every week because I lived down the street from it. I've since moved and now I only go when I'm in the area, which happened to be yesterday. The store is always clean and easy to navigate. The clearance shelf can be sparse sometimes, but I've also found some great deals on it. Same goes for the bakery clearance shelf. I've never had issues finding something that they were supposed to have here, even when the weekly ad has a great deal that has me running there. The people who work here are friendly, but sometimes seem like they're just locked in and don't want to be bothered with questions. The self-checkout people are great and help you as soon as your stand starts flashing. The parking lot is huge but can be a nightmare during peak hours. Like most busy parking lots, the problem lies with the drivers - they simply don't know how to drive or behave. It can be tough to get a spot in front of the store so I usually park in the slanted spots a little further away. The only problem I've had at this Safeway is the bathroom. I've only been in it once but that was enough. As soon as I walked in I was hit with this wall of stench. It was the worst smell I've ever experienced and I didn't even last five seconds in there before I had to run out gasping for air. It could have just been a bad day, so I'm hoping it's not like that anymore, but it was enough to make me never want to go in there again. read more

there is a plus sized brunette employee who doesn't wear a name tag and always has her hair in a scrunchie at the nape of her neck and a hair claw on the back of her head who will mock you if you use multiple cards to pay. There is often only one person working at the deli and 30 minute waits are common. It's disrespectful. read more

I tried sooo hard...to find a tender piece of beef. It doesn't exist - except maybe in the "Prime" category. But who can afford that. They make it look soooo good! Gorgeous T-bones, delicious looking Ribeyes! . The first 7 times I bought their beef, I thought "I just got a bad batch. I just was unlucky." And I would pick up one of their magnificent slightly marbled chunks of cow. Uh-oh. Fooled again! But it looked soooo tender! Safeway is the only choice in this burg - Junction City. I really wanted it to work. But their prices are ridiculous and their meat is tough as leather! Winco or Walmart are where I buy my groceries. The 20 minute drive is well worth it. If I could I give 0 stars, that being said today 11/13 @130 my self and my wife went to the hot deli to get food, one not much was out on the hot line , two we notice on the very limited fried chicken there was still had there feather stems on the chicken, like really , at my place of work we make sure the chicken is completely clear of stems or feathers before we cook the product, poor presentation guys come on, and also we waited 10 minutes and no one was around to help us. So we left . The This is completely unacceptable. As a Sous Chef I would reprimand My kitchen staff for poor presentation and no customer service , and also the remaining chicken strips looked like they been out for hours, so do you check temps? Anything that has Been out for 4 hours should be replaced, cuz those stirps looked like they were out for 12 hours , it was obvious, I've been to better store hot delis and this was by far the worst experience. This Safeway has some low reviews but it seemed nice to me! The store has large inventory of products and a good bakery, deli and produce departments. The produce department has beautiful locally grown vegetables. I loved the Romanesco broccoli It's beautiful and looked super fresh. All the veggies I bought were great. The only bummer is they forgot 2 things on the side when I was bagging. I didn't notice until we drove home. We had no trouble picking them up when we drove back but it was a bit of a pain. Today was the last time I'll walk into your store. Judging by the terrible reviews, I doubt anyone at this store cares. I moved here about 9 months ago and this store wasn't my favorite, but it was okay. I've had a few issues but it was convenient so I kept shopping here. The younger guy at register 4 today at 2:50p really needs training. He didn't even speak to me. He rang up my groceries and I realized he wasn't even going to ATTEMPT helping me bag them. There were very few people in the store so not like he was slammed. He rang them up and then stood there. I'm 61. I'm capable of doing it, but it was stunning that he would just stand there while I did it and not even attempt to help me. So I started putting my things in bags and then he started ringing up the next person (again, it wasn't crowded and she was the only other person in line), so she moved up so I literally couldn't reach my groceries to put in bags. At one point I just stood there because I couldn't do anything. And again, he offered ZERO help. Someone needs to teach him that you have to finish with one customer before you can help another because I'm in the way until I can get my groceries bagged. Done with this store. If I don't matter as a customer, I'll happily go to Albertsons or Fred Meyer. Train your rude employees so you don't lose customers. read more

I was in your Coburg store in Eugene, OR recently to get some Atlantic Salmon on sale. You were out of it so I went to leave pushing the Empty cart to go to my car & the cart locked at the exit, very frustrating as I have balance issues and depend on the cart for support. I am sure I am not the only senior citizen who has this problem. I could understand the cark locking up at the exit if I had items that were unpaid for, but the cart was empty. My sister was recently admitted into Riverbend on the surgical floor. I was unable to go up and see her due to my young daughter being with me so I decided to call Safeway's florist due to their location and rather large selection of flowers. Plus they were much closer to the hospital. I knew they had Instacart which I used before when delivering snacks to my father in his rehab facility in Florence. When I placed the order I made sure the details were very clear. That the flowers be cut and put in the vase and enclosed with a card. After I put my order through they suggested alternatives if that flower vase was out of stock. Strange I thought, then why is the vase on the website? Anyways oh well. I suggested a alternative and placed my order. One thing I didn't know before they hold $40 on your debit card until your order goes through and they suggest the tip you should apply. So 35 minutes later my sisters flowers were delivered with no card and a vase that was two times the cost of the original one. When she sent me a picture I thought why didn't I just have the hospitals gift shop deliver. I wasn't thinking obviously. Needless to say this is what $40 bought me. However, for the past couple of months, I have gone into get get a single jalapeño cheese bagel and there are always none. This has been happening more often then not. I am giving this Safeway on Coburg road 1 star because I can not go less. We tried to order a birthday cake for our grand daughters 2nd birthday and received poor help. It was after 5 pm, and we were told to call after 8 am the next day or come back after 8AM. This was after waiting 20 minutes for help and getting someone paged to the baker. We both work in Albany, so we called and spoke to someone as we were instructed. We asked about the rainbow cake they had advertised on their cake board, but we were told it's no longer available and has not been available in for some time. We asked about the funfetti cake they get in and slice up as individual pieces for sale. The employee had no idea what we were saying and started with an attitude. We were finally able to get a cake ordered to pick up Friday night for Saturdays party. Very simple cake with with Happy Birthday Steph. When we picked up the cake this is what we got. Mind you the person taking our order repeated the name, Steph, and spelled it back S T E P H. We asked the person giving us the cake to fix it and she could not. We asked her to please take Seth off the cake and she could not. We asked if the could give us something to remove the name and icing to fix it and they would not. We asked for a manager. We showed them the problem and only got sorry. Really sorry doesn't fix the problem, but they were more than happy to sell us what we needed to fix their mistake and charge us full price for the take. Worse service ever!! read more

I strongly recommend you do NOT use this store to pick up and go for Groceries. After they stopped giving written receipts they decided to email receipts without telling me. Finally figured out how to access receipt after picking up groceries today ordered yesterday and what I found today was close to all out larceny. The items I ordered yesterday and paid for were billed at a higher price today. For instance a roast bought and paid for at $37 was now $57. One apple was $3.27. Ice cream bought for $3 was now $5.99. All savings I carefully shopped for, over $100 worth, was whittled down to $37. Now qit's impossible to figure out how much I've been cheated out of over the last few months. Because the receipt was so messed up today I gave the $235 order back to them, furious and in tears because I now had no food and a bedridden husband recovering from serious back surgery. They offered a $50 gift card which I refused because the amount of overcharged items was at least $80 and $10 and $5 coupons (used rewards) were removed. I do not trust this store now. I've been shopping at Safeway for 35+ years and will never go back. Heed this warning. It's illegal bait and switch. read more

Love the store! The cashiers (I would love to list them all but I'd probably inadvertently miss one)! The funny guy that helped me once in the fresh seafood section! Two complaints. One, there is almost always a lack of clerks/cashiers at check-out in the mornings (mid-morning is usually when I go in) and the line at one register backs up into one of the aisles). And, two, many of the employees out on the floor (especially in the meat section) clearly do not want to interact with customers. They might not want to. However, this job requires it. This Safeway gets 3 stars just because it's significantly better than the Pioneer Parkway location in Springfield. While this is not a difficult feat, it's still not spectacular. This store is typically very clean and organized. Floors are mopped on a regular basis, so there's never sticky, black patches on it. There's something to be said for that alone. I've always found what I needed in here. I mostly come in if I have a coupon for a really good sale. I can't say I come in for any other reason, really. Employees are so-so. They're not exactly forthcoming in offering to help at any point, but if approached, they do help with a decent attitude. Not overly friendly and excited to help, but it's not begrudging help either. So it's tolerable. The parking lot is insane. I feel like I'm taking my life in my hands trying to park in here. There's an elderly retirement home next door, so there's always fire trucks and ambulances on Cal Young, which it's pretty much impossible to see around them if you're exiting onto Cal from the Safeway parking lot. Just adds to the zoo-like atmosphere of the parking lot. Will I return here? I try not to. Lol. It's definitely not a store I frequent. Like I said, if I have a coupon for a great sale, I'll pick this location over the one in Springfield, but that's about the only reason I come in. It's not the nicest Safeway I've ever been in and honestly it has sort of a depressing feel to it. I'm not sure if it's the employees or the customers but either way I always try to get in and out as fast as I can. Recently I went there to grab a quick snack and saw how all of the pumpkins in front of the store were just in piles rotting. It's such a waste! Piles upon piles of them just rotting away. Maybe they should just order less... now there's a thought! Anyways, the parking lot has a few sketchy characters but I haven't had an issues. It is convenient that it's right next to a liquor store so you can grab your alcohol in one spot if needed. Just two blocks away from my apartment, I frequent this Safeway more than any other grocer presently. The produce is fresh and beautifully stocked, the variety is slightly above average, and the prices (if you have a Safeway card) are reasonable for the most part. The cashiers are friendly when you engage them in conversation. The entire store is modern, clean, and laid out sensibly. The parking lot here, however, is a zoo - so bring your defensive driving skills along with your grocery list WARNING: I was shopping in the bakery late in the evening and watched as an employee cleaned the glass inside of the donut case. I'm so happy the store is clean, but I was shocked to see the gentleman spraying the glass cleaner directly on the glass, instead of on a cloth. It is impossible that cleaner did not get on the donuts. I mentioned this kindly to the cashier as I checked out, but am not sure if the message was passed on. As a result, I'll stay away from the donut case, which come to think of it, is a blessing anyways. If store management is reading this, though, please provide a reminder to workers re: food safety while cleaning. Thanks! read more

Boooooo! Not a fan of this Safeway. What is up with the produce!! I went in for a few tomatoes for dinner the other day and I literally had to go through about 20 of them to find one not covered in tomato juice mold. If they weren't moldy....they were OVERLY soft. I used to be a produce distribution technician when I was in High school for a store that specialized in Fresh local produce (for those of you wondering what a Produce distribution technician is....its the fancy name i gave myself for being the guy that stocked the produce). Anyhow....Start of the day and end of the day I was going through the produce looking for anything that was spoiled and removing it promptly. This is PAINFULLY not the case here.....It's probably some of the worst produce i've found. Also, it's ridiculously priced! I think I seen the Red Delicious apples for almost $2 a pound. That's ridiculous. Im also sick of all the donations they want. Every time you slide your debit card they want you to make a donation or round up your total so that the proceeds can go to charity..... Dont get it twisted....I'm not heartless. I do care about people in need. But EVERY time I go in there I have someone asking me if I wanna make a donation and when I say, "no thank you" there it is on the debit machine asking me again. It gets on my nerves is all... And on a personal note...I can NOT drink their milk. The TASTE of it makes me gag. Im a milk lover. I drink probably a quart a day easy. I can drink Lochmead just fine, Cascade, Hy-Top, and so on....But when it comes to Lucerne i vomit. I dont know what they do to the milk that's different, but I cant stand it one bit. Beer is expensive as hell.....Corona runs about $17 a 12 pack. I can go to Costco and get a 24 pack for $22. Even WinCo has 12 packs for $13 which is much cheaper. Bakery- I love the garlic bread.......BUT I usually have to remove about a pound of garlic spread before baking it. When you remove the loaf it's seriously CAKED with about a half inch thick of the spread. None the less, I dont come here much unless it's for an onion or something else small and cheap that I need for dinner. read more

Average Safeway, could use more local foods. They did a nice job remodeling recently, especially around the pharmacy and vegetable areas. We've been using the pharmacy here for meds for a sick pet. The staff is very friendly and sympathetic; they're also well-informed and will work with you to solve any issues. We did have a number of problems with one refill, which ended up taking five days to get. They provided us with an interim refill, but our cat went without his meds twice as a result. We're not sure who is to blame for the issues, our vet and their techs are very competent, but somehow communication took days to resolve. Could use a little improvement. read more

This Safeway is not ideal. I hardly get acknowledged when trying to ask a question. Also my son had a horrible experience in the bakery. My son asked for a cookie and got told rudely that she needed an adult, so my son came and got me so I went with him and he asked again and the older lady behind the counter rudely spoke to my son and said, "I told you you need an adult." At that point I acknowledge that he was with me and then she was polite as can be. Really two faced if you ask me. The best thing here is the chinese food. Bought some 8 dollar chicken with 8 pieces. The drum sticks were smaller than my thumb. The wings were so small a Robin could not even fly with them. And the kid stocking the wine was rude. Not impressed Safeway. Next time I will by the five dollar large roasted chicken at costco and cheaper wine. After further review of our chicken box I was picking out a thigh. Along came a small bird and plucked it from my hand. It flew to a tree and dropped the thigh. It Looked over at me and asked where did you get this pathetic thigh? Safeway. I reached back in the box and pulled out the one chicken breast but it was no bigger than a small juvenile humming birds breast. These employees are the worst, after having difficulty with self check out,the first person was helping and mid helping left, his replacement has no business talking to customers, after telling him this was causing my PTSD to kick in he left helping me to go over to another customer and laugh at me for struggling with this. After he had help scan my beer he left only to have to be called back over to check I'd and enter it. Finally paid and was turning my cart when I believe the manager grabbed my cart and asked me in an extremely nasty voice and look on her face if there was a problem. Wow! I told her to get her hands off my cart I was leaving and at first she wasn't letting go until I told her I was having a medical emergency and my PTSD was now off the charts. As I turned the corner the manager another employee w started to loudly laugh at me and my situation ( love to see you on a battlefield and see how you do!) The manager on duty at 730 pm on Monday September 30th should be FIRED! read more

It took me a while to find things and then as soon as it was announced that it was closing I then rushed to get things. Then a couple workers said I had to stop and leave. Pros: * Good selection of fruits and veggies, usually our preferred place to buy them. * Employees have always been friendly and helpful, we use self-checkout and they're always helpful and even apologetic when the register is being difficult. * The fresh baked goods smell--many times when I walk into other grocery stores it smells like wet cardboard. Cons: * The parking lot, as others have mentioned, can be scary. There's been times when I'll park behind McDonald's just to avoid the drama. They should consider a redesign if at all possible. * The Music played in the store. I feel bad for all the older people who shop there and have to be acquainted with Katy Perry's "Firework" and accept that this is what is now the standard by which music is gaged. Its also turned up So Loud. I went in with only one earbud in thinking that it would suffice, but, the music was so loud over the store speakers, it was mildly disorienting--lesson learned I guess! * The bathroom is horrible. The selection is limited, the prices are high, customer service is practically non-existent, the quality of the produce in particular is extremely low, and any commitment to sanitation is very questionable. My family and I come here often and lately the service has been terrible. My boyfriends sister and his child went in the other night to pick up some items and while checking out she placed the keys to the car on the checkout counter. Walking out to the car realizing she didn't have the keys went back inside and proceed to ask if anyone had seen any keys. Need I mind it's about 7:30 with a 2 year old who's bed time was way past dew. They asked the customer service workers and they said they'd seen no keys, so they dragged on for 30 minutes looking up and down. Finally going back one last time to see if anyone had found the keys, and boom the cashier had placed them in customer service right after they checked out. Then they proceeded to laugh and say "sorry" in the least apologetic way possible. All in all not happy. read more

Grew up buying groceries at this Safeway. These days it's difficult to find parking anymore, so you end up parking in the compact places in the corner or all the way near Rite-Aid. The prices here are slightly high, but now they offer many deals with their coupon app. Lately there has been many manager specials as well. I've been getting some sweet deals here this year. If I'm going to do bulk shopping, I'll go elsewhere, but this place is alright for certain deals when they're on. Since I've visited for years, I've seen a mixed group of workers. They have never surpassed my expectations of a grocery worker. So if you're looking for superior service go elsewhere. This place is good for convenience and a clean store. read more
