To start, before choosing this school I had…read moreinitially done my own extensive research in Montessori education curriculum as well as individual schools in my area. The idea was to find a safe environment where lots of play happens but education is also a priority. With that being said I should also state my daughter who turned three the first day of school had never been in a daycare or school system. She has always been kept home and has limited experience with any out of home programs, so obviously I kept that in mind when choosing Montessori and made sure they were informed of this after choosing. At the start everything was fine, the "play date" they set up before your child's first day of school was a glorified check drop off at best. They ask some questions and let them play with a group of kids on the playground. The school is extremely small with only two class rooms that split ages from under three and over three. The over three class room ages probably ranging from 3-5 from what I could tell, each class having 4 teachers each. All in all my daughter seemed excited, we were excited everything seems great, moving on. The first week comes and goes with only a few hiccups to our knowledge other than some potty accidents. My daughter had just turned three and had been potty trained almost two months before we started something every teacher was made aware of. Here comes week two, we are are happy going to school, happy during pick up. There's absolutely no inclination to us that she is unhappy. At most the "observational feedback" the teachers would give us was positive with the occasional "we need to work on this but otherwise today was good". Great we can do that! By Thursday of week three, one of the four teachers I rarely saw or spoke to is now telling me my daughter is saying she's unhappy, that she doesn't like to sit for lessons and that they think she is not a good fit and "needs more movement". They asked if she acts sad to come to school, I said quite the opposite and I had almost three weeks worth of before school photos and videos of her singing, smiling and ready to go. I asked when she acted that way and it typically always revolved around being told to do or not do something..... interesting right? That a three year old would be unhappy with authority. By the way all these things we WANT to work on with her. After this meeting I took the "need for more movement" seriously and signed her up for after school dance classes and TOT basketball to help but by Friday of week four I'm getting a call at work that my child is not a fit for their school and we needed to find alternative care. While they state in the phone conversations and emails that they're doing what is best for the child I really don't see how you even had time to understand what that means for her. My child was expected in 15 school days to adapt to a brand new environment, brand new people and schedule seamlessly to a standard we were never even made aware of and really going against everything Montessori philosophy is built on. I specifically chose Montessori for the hands on and active approach knowing my child would enjoy and need movement, either this school has its own idea of Montessori or they're not equipped for the classroom age ranges and individual needs. I especially don't see how any child who is hyperactive or on the spectrum would thrive. The one positive and reason for the two stars was Ms Quanesha! Thank you for always being sweet with my girl, she was always happy to see you and we will miss you!

Ms. Jennifer was also amazing with my son as an infant; he felt loved and nurtured. She was kind and always willing to go above and beyond. This school isn't even the closest middle school to our house. We drive right past Rayburn to come to this dump. I've had little parent/teacher communication all year. The one time I did email the principal about an issue I never heard back from him, he just passed it on to someone else. Ive only called the school a handful of times but when I have it has taken a second phone call to get an answer from someone. I went into the front office to ask a question yesterday and the secretary treated me like I was wasting her time. I worked as a school secretary for 5 years and I never treated people like that. This is our first year and I never had these issues at our previous school. I am so glad we are moving to the high school next year.

Imagine 20 adults in a 8 feet x 8 feet area- how uncomfortable would that be if you were one of those adults. Kids are more active and move around a lot more so that kind of area is too small. The space comment doesn't just apply to this daycare but to any daycare in this price range, when run at its full government approved capacity. We need to be talking to our representatives. Additionally, in every daycare, the regular teachers are relieved by part-time workers. They may not be all that motivated and not very caring. They are the ones you meet, when you pick up your kid. So any questions about your kids day are only answered by a vague yes or a well rehearsed great. If you probe a little, you discover the shallowness of their answers. Sometimes they say that they will relay your concern to the main teacher and you never hear back. Parents are too busy and tired after work to follow up. This is generally how most daycares function. The director here is always pleasant to talk to and so are most of the teachers. The have large playgrounds that seem safe. Their food quality seems to be ok.

I spoke with Shane Savage regarding what the outdoor range renting process is and he was super friendly and patient with my questions and guided me through it. It is super simple. You reserve a date and time and hopefully it's open, he sends you a confirmation text and you simply show up. He met with me, gave me a wagon with a fold-up table, free paper target (per person), a staple gun, a bucket to collect your brass, and fold-up chairs. It was a smaller range, but perfect for us, There were both wooden target stands to hang your targets (free to use) and steel targets (for $5 extra or $1 extra for more paper targets). My sons and I were the only ones there so it was nice and private. We signed a waiver, setup our own station, put up targets, and had fun safely shooting your weapon(s). The range is about 50yds, but I specifically brought my kids here so they'd get used to a few of our home defense additions at a realistic distance. He does ask that you pick up and collect your trash and brass. I'd recommend bringing water to drink and a trash bag for your convenience. There is a restroom available. It's a field, so there's really enough parking for you. Shane sits in his truck for the duration of your stay and for any questions or requests that you may have later on. The range is $20 to rent for 2 hours per person, but if you come with more people, there's a discounted price. It was $45 for the 3 of us. I know Shane also teaches classes on safety and other courses, but we've never used those services, but according to the numerous 5 star Google reviews that I've read, it's safe to assume he's an amazing instructor.
