Pros: great people, location to university to take challenging classes, teachers that care about students, clubs, music & sports Cons: Not enough funding for academic endeavors. It's hard to succeed in academic extracurriculars without funding, but Consol performs well anyways. The talent and hard work ethic of the students is amazing. You won't be disappointed here.

They don't give you the "college readiness" they boast about, and many end up not knowing anything in college. Many are found being overlooked and disrespected by the school at every turn, ruining their confidence. The teachers give out free A's, and you have to put in absolutely no effort for a good grade, and it ends up being extremely hard when college comes around, because you've learned no material and no work ethic. In addition, Allen makes some horrible staff choices, and even when called out by all students and many parents, they refuse to do anything about it and blame it on the students. They put on a perfect act, but once you go to the school, it shuts off, and they only care about money. Allen Academy ruined high school for me and I wouldn't recommend it for any middle/high school students.

Some may claim the administration is too lax, but I would like to direct their attention to A&M Consolidated. The administration does just enough to keep everyone safe, and learning. However. The glorification of football in this school is WAAAAY too overshot. While the administration pays attention to everyone else, the gentlemen who wear tights and chase a ball up and down a field are cut loose. They do whatever they want, whenever they want to do it with the only restriction being whether or not coach can see them. The school puts more money into the athletics program than anything else and while that's all good and well for the people in athletics, the regular students (Which is probably what category you or your child fall into) suffer for it. It is largely left up to individual clubs made by students to have extracurriculars. And good GOD don't pay any attention to the school newspaper as last I checked it is liberal third wave feminist propaganda (Can we change that please?) and shouldn't be taken seriously. SO. All of the staff members have been genuinely curious and open to our ideas and concerns. We are grateful that LCA has integrated our child's strengths into his learning path. This has greatly increased his enthusiasm for school! We were tired of paying private school prices for a public school experience. The Montessori schools are too far away, but that is the type of independent learning environment our child thrives in. Fortunately, LCA offers an environment that recognizes the individual, celebrates creativity and works collaboratively with families.

What an AMAZING school!…read more This was my first visit and we didn't even go to a football game! Our son is playing a golf tournament on the A&M course and we wanted to check out the campus. Our kids want to go to college here. Couldn't believe how HUGE this campus is! We saw many so bikes and scooters out and about. The campus was BEAUTIFUL and SO CLEAN. Excited to (eventually) go to a football game in one of the largest stadiums in N. America. My husband and I have been talking about how we love the values this school has. At the time it was the least expensive state university in Texas. I really had no idea how prestigious it was when I applied. I just knew I wanted to be involved with the ocean and study Marine Biology. As time went by, I discovered I'd jumped into the deep end. For example,I took both semesters of organic chemistry during the summer and had never been that challenged. Later to find out that's considered to be the most rigorous Organic Chemistry course in the United States. By the way, I just found out ,that professor recently retired after teaching there 47 years! Sometimes life hands you an opportunity that later proves us humans can stumble into situations good for us. As a young man having no idea what I was getting into,in the final analysis, this school had a tremendous influence on the way I learned, challenged myself, grew and prospered in life. The reason for this review today is,I just read where Texas A&M campus police are discontinuing, arrest on campus, of students possessing less than two ounces of marijuana. Fantastic...time marches on and...it's about time!!!!
