It's definitely worth going here rather than a boarding school, because the value can't be beat. Pros: great people, location to university to take challenging classes, teachers that care about students, clubs, music & sports Cons: Not enough funding for academic endeavors. It's hard to succeed in academic extracurriculars without funding, but Consol performs well anyways. The talent and hard work ethic of the students is amazing. You won't be disappointed here.

They declined my straight-A, 99th percentile, who scores "college ready" because he is neurodivergent and has some needs that accompany that. Instead of being the kind of institution who sees the potential of a gifted individual, they can't get past the fact he has a hard time speaking and writing. This is autism. He is well worth the time and effort it takes to help him become the person he is destined to be. They want perfect kids that fit into perfect boxes and have no deviations whatsoever from that perfect box. Anyone can teach those kids. It is really easy to declare that you have good teachers and a good system when those are the only kids you teach. This is also the face of the Texas Voucher system. Children with disabilities receive priority. Private schools decline them because they just don't want to deal with that. They wasted my time, my money, my energy, and now I have to figure out how to tell my son we aren't interested in Allen Academy. This is already a child who is acutely aware that he is different in every way possible.

All of the staff members have been genuinely curious and open to our ideas and concerns. We are grateful that LCA has integrated our child's strengths into his learning path. This has greatly increased his enthusiasm for school! We were tired of paying private school prices for a public school experience. The Montessori schools are too far away, but that is the type of independent learning environment our child thrives in. Fortunately, LCA offers an environment that recognizes the individual, celebrates creativity and works collaboratively with families.

What an AMAZING school!…read more This was my first visit and we didn't even go to a football game! Our son is playing a golf tournament on the A&M course and we wanted to check out the campus. Our kids want to go to college here. Couldn't believe how HUGE this campus is! We saw many so bikes and scooters out and about. The campus was BEAUTIFUL and SO CLEAN. Excited to (eventually) go to a football game in one of the largest stadiums in N. America. My husband and I have been talking about how we love the values this school has. We would be proud to have our kiddos go here.

At the time it was the least expensive state university in Texas. I really had no idea how prestigious it was when I applied. I just knew I wanted to be involved with the ocean and study Marine Biology. As time went by, I discovered I'd jumped into the deep end. For example,I took both semesters of organic chemistry during the summer and had never been that challenged. Later to find out that's considered to be the most rigorous Organic Chemistry course in the United States. By the way, I just found out ,that professor recently retired after teaching there 47 years! Sometimes life hands you an opportunity that later proves us humans can stumble into situations good for us. As a young man having no idea what I was getting into,in the final analysis, this school had a tremendous influence on the way I learned, challenged myself, grew and prospered in life. The reason for this review today is,I just read where Texas A&M campus police are discontinuing, arrest on campus, of students possessing less than two ounces of marijuana. Fantastic...time marches on and...it's about time!!!!
