This has been my favorite grocery store for years, and I've always enjoyed shopping here…read more Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been completely different. The new staff have made the atmosphere feel unwelcoming. They have been rude, unfriendly, and at times openly hostile. During my last visit, the employee assisting at the self-checkout was dismissive and confrontational. I never asked to speak with a manager, the employee called one instead. The manager took about 12 minutes to arrive, casually stopping to chat with other customers along the way. When she finally came over, she didn't give me an opportunity to explain my concerns. Instead, she was dismissive while walking away. I pointed out that several self-checkout stations had no bags available, and she responded with what felt like sarcastic laughter, giving the impression that she simply didn't care about the condition of the store or the customer experience. Rather than addressing the issue, she shifted the conversation and suggested that my complaint was somehow related to misogyny because she was a woman. That had absolutely nothing to do with my concern. My complaint was about poor customer service, a lack of basic supplies at the checkout, and the dismissive attitude I encountered from both the employee and the manager. It's disappointing to see a store I once enjoyed decline so much. With so many grocery stores competing for customers, treating loyal shoppers this way is a sure way to drive them elsewhere. I sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve the customer experience.

A few months ago, I was there late at night and there was only one checker. The self-check out lanes were closed. About 12 people standing around waiting to pay. Several of them left and also left their carts of groceries. The checker was the older Asian man who only has one speed.....slow. He is friendly and only doing his job, but really? One checker? I called the customer service on my receipt and let them know, but they didn't sound all that interested in my concern. I later spoke to one of the checkers and he said that the manager doesn't care and it has nothing to do with the store's budget. I spoke to another store manager and he said for me to be patient....big changes are coming to that store. read more

We had been trying for a while to get one of the limited summer mini tote bags, but every time we came in, they were already sold out. One day we met Felicia, and after hearing about it, she kindly told my daughter she would try to save one for her. As a busy mom with a toddler, it took us several days before we could make it back to the store. What amazed me was that Felicia actually remembered us. She had even written Chlea's name on the bag she had set aside. The smile on my daughter's face when she finally received it was absolutely priceless. It wasn't just about the bag. The bag drops are cultural moments. It's someone is sacrificing their time for the elders. It's a reunion of friends and family. It's having conversations with strangers. It's a social event. I've witnessed it, experienced it, and embraced it. The two employees managed the mini tote bag distribution pretty well. An excited ajumma tried to grab the bags Black Friday style. The first employee went into linebacker mode and protected the bags but also themselves. The secondary employee politely and respectfully spoke with the customer in their native language. I'm guessing the conversation was about the process because the customer paused and listened to him attentively. I'm surprised there isn't a TJ's in Renton or Southcenter.
