Friday around 5:30pm - 6:00pm went here for their sandwiches, which is mostly delicious but not for this Safeway. I didn't experience the same experience i had from other Safeway deli, this one had the worse deli sandwich maker they have. I order a roast beef sandwich and the lady stated smelling the meat and heat up the sandwich so long that I ended up with a burn bread. read more

Safeway always my choice to shop at, so of course I stop here. What happen to Antioch Safeway? What happen to Antioch? It's a bit GHETTO than it was 5 years ago. Anyways back to Safeway the bakery doesn't seem fresh, of course if the bakery not fresh then you can't trust the deli. I found what I needed but a few shelves were empty. However for a last minute shopping in a last resort city this will do. read more

Came here last Sunday, my friend and I were just running in to grab a sandwich. It took Marcos almost a half an hour to make two sandwiches. We are not normally ones to complain but he was moving so slowly it was insulting. Both of us have worked in customer and food service, we know that sometimes it takes a while but this was just laziness. read more

This store STINKS like old used water from a mop. I hightailed it out of there. Shoppers and employees acted like they were nose blind to the smell. read more

Wow want an amazing experience I had with Flor the manager of the Bakery Department! I went in at 6pm the night before my daughters graduation party needing a 2 tiered cake. I know last minute right but I had been so busy with everything else I forgot to order the cake smh. Anyways when I walked in I saw a 10in round cake with purple rhinestones and a white flower which I loved but it did not have a second tier. Angle helped me and immediately told me sure we can have a cake made by tomorrow at 3. I was elated because I was certain this was going to be an impossible task. Next I told her I would like it two tiered she said that was fine but her manager Flor was off and she is the one that does the pricing for two tiered cakes. I instantly got sad but then she said I could text her. I was like really ok this was unusual because I didn't think she would want to be bothered after work and to her personal number. I tried anyway and got a response from Flor immediately. I sent her a picture of the cake in the case and she said she didn't have anymore purple rhinestones. I asked her if I could have that one and if she could put a bottom tier on it she said of course. Then she asked how would I like the bottom decorated? I sent her another picture of a cake with scrolling and she said I don't think that will look right in her professional opinion but I could come in the next morning and she would do it in front of me so I could decide. When I came in the next morning they had gold rhinestones which was perfect since my daughters party was purple, gold, and royal blue. There was a white rose on top I asked her if she could airbrush it blue she said of course. Lastly when I came in to pick up the cake we had a little mishap with the cupcakes for her party I picked up some already decorated cupcakes that had unicorns and paw patrol rings in them but they were blue and purple. Flor asked me why did I have them I said they were the only purple and blue cupcakes out and I would take off the rings. She said no I will make you some fresh and decorate them for you so that your cupcakes will be perfect! I could not believe it! She had went above and beyond on everything! read more

Safeway - Grocery Near Me - Antioch, California

This place is nice is wasn't aware how cheap the food is nice to have a place close to me

Safeway is Safeway, I must say that the night crew here is pretty friendly tho.

I just stoped to get a breakfast sandwich here this morning. And Elaine helped me. She was very sweet and engaging. Normally it is not a pleasant experience at the safeway deli. But this time she made me want to return. Thank you for starting my morning off right. Plus the sandwich is delicious :) read more

I booked an order on Saturday in the AM for my mother's birthday on Monday which is today to be picked up at 3. I spoke with a lady on the phone who said they couldn't write happy birthday on the strawberry bar cake and tres leches cake because it already has stuff on top so I asked for a mini white cake to go with it that says happy birthday. When I go in to pick up my order they told me several different excuses the first one was that the new employee should of put it in a separate order and that nothing was put to the side for me. Then they went on to say that it didn't come in their shipment. Then I asked to speak with the manager and she calls him instead of telling him to come to her department to tell me that theirs nothing they can do. I told her several times I wanted her to call her manager over to the bakery and she gave me more excuses which is she can't leave because she's the only one in the bakery and that he's all the up front that I need to call him. Finally she gets the manager and the manager tells me it was overlooked that theirs no reason to keep going back and forth because it's not going solve anything. I'm mad and furious that they didn't notify me earlier not an hour before I'm suppose to meet up with my mother and now I have no cakes besides a small one. Then finally the manger says they have a tres leches cake after I asked several times if they had any and they kept saying no. I don't recommend going to this bakery I placed it two days ahead and they still didn't have my moms favorite cakes now I'm going to show up empty handed. read more

The store is organized, clean and spacious. I ended up speaking with an employee who knew exactly where I could find the product I was looking for and seemed eager to help. I felt appreciated as a customer and will continue to do my business here. read more

if i could give negative stars i really would ! i went to the little food place to get my boyfriend some lunch and he didn't know what he wanted. whatever ladies that were at the food place were RUDE AS FUCK rushing me and trying to get me out the way so i kindly stepped back because i wasn't ready. the hot food looked nasty as hell anyway, dry ass chicken, old ass food period so i wasn't going to pay $8 for that. so then i go to the sandwiches then the same lady comes and so does another one. i ask for a wheat sandwich and the person pulls out 2 WHEAT BREAD SLICES ?! i called my man and was like they're giving you 2 slices i could make you a sandwich at home FOR FREE. i guess that pissed that lady off i don't gaf eitjer way then she starts rushing me and being even more rude like BITCH IF YOU DONT HOLD YOUR HORSES. not only was the black-haired lady being rude there was a brunette lady doing an order in front of me and she was giving hella attitude ! talking about " are you ready i only have 5 minutes" excuse me ?! i work in food services too but have a little customer service, i know what it feels like to almost being on a break and having indecisive customers but help DONT BE RUDE. i will NEVER come here for food because those bitches were rude as hell ! read more

Facility-wise this is a four-star Safeway, but it gets an extra star for its chill employees.

I normally fsvor safeway sandwiches over any other locations but the service here is terrible. It went from bad to worse within the last two weeks. I went in today at 5:00 to get a sandwich there was no line at all and still didn't get helped out until 5:17. That is absolutely ridiculous! They are always short handed and the employees who prepare the sandwiches always work very slow and a majority of the time make the sandwiches incorrectly. They have absolutely no customer service skills what so ever. While preparing my sandwich today the woman helping me answered the phone with the gloves she was preparing my sandwich with and continued to prepare my sandwich without changing her gloves. Disgusting! I do not recommend anyone who does enjoy safeway sandwiches to visit this location. read more

Worst deli ever. Alexus and Andrew are awful. They heated up the ingredients one at a time. Egg. Then potato. Then sausage. Then the burrito itself. 20 minutes!! read more

The employees there are rude and have no consideration. An employee stands there watching you walk out the exit that they closed at 9:30 pm. They know the entrance/exit side of that building is closed but fail to even mention that to customers as they are walking out that way with arms full of groceries, instead these employees just turn and looks at you and smiles as if we are dumb! No customers are not, as a customer walking in gettin your groceries and want to hurry out the store and yes we fail to look at signs of times certain entrance/exit closes! But as an employee that careless of their customer would do some dumb shit by just looking at customers walking out the certain side of the building! No kind of consideration to remind customers it's closed! This Safeway is horrible by the day! I'm surprised it's still open! Employees look mad everyday and not happy to be working there! I think I'll stay away from Safeway for sure and spend my money on other shops!!!! read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I moved to Antioch that there was a Safeway buy my home. Right around the corner. I've always preferred Safeway to Lucky's and am a faithful Safeway shopper. Not only that , but this is a wonderfully staffed store. The service is great! I moved from Castro Valley , CA and I like this one much better. Kudo's to the Manager for his hiring skills. And great customer service to everyone there . They are always smiling and helpful. It is a nice place to run into after a long day at work - they last thing I need is to see frowning unfriendly faces and they just can't be found in this store. I really appreciate that so thank you's and much love go out to my local Antioch Safeway! read more

After I PAID for my groceries, I was walking out of Safeway when I heard someone yelling at me "Hey! Stop right there!" And when I turned around there was a white security guard that was literally RUNNING to stop me! He therefore demanded to see my receipt and said that he had to check if I had paid for my groceries because I might have been stealing! I told him whatever and handed him my receipt. When he was done, I was on my way to walk out of the door, as I turned around, a white lady had walked right out past the security guard without getting her receipt checked. As a hispanic teenager, I was very offended and the manager just made up some bullshit excuse about "new policy". But that "new policy" only lasted about the only day I went in there! That's racist and very unprofessional. Will not be shopping there anytime soon! read more

Can someone please hire new management! The store is constantly filthy, under stocked and poorly maintained.

I usually buy crabs for my boyfriend every season. Obviously, everyone else is buying them too! So I call ahead of time and Ivan, the Seafood Manager usually answers the phone. He always puts a few aside for me, and even offers to clean them for me! I can't make it to Safeway until after he is off his shift, so he makes sure that they are saved for me. I think that this is above and beyond his job description, and very nice of him. There is also another gentlemen that works with him, that I can't recall his name, but he knows my name when I walk in to get my crab, he is very nice and helpful as well. I know how nice it is and how far it goes with your employer when you get a yelp review, I wanted to let Safeway know that I am taking my time to write this, because I feel that these two gentlemen make Safeway a nice place to shop, and make you feel like your business is wanted! I think that people should do on to others as you would want done to you. I feel like these two gentlemen are a perfect example of that statement! Thank you both! Sarah read more

Since Safeway is listed in the Bakery/Florist section I will base my rating on the experiences I've had with their bakery. I've always like Safeway cakes because they are yummy... BUT this Safeway's bakery is not so good. Although the taste of the cake was okay, not great, but not bad either... The look of the cake was HORRIBLE! The last one I ordered was for my little girl's b-day... Since it was a "rockin" party I elected to have a cake with a guitar on it. I showed them the picture of the Hannah Montana cake that THEY had as one of their designs and told them that I just want the guitar from there... Minus the Hannah Montana stuff. Should be easy right??? Well, obviously it wasn't. The cake came out like a 4th grader colored it in art class!!!! You could barely quess that it was supposed to be a guitar. For $50 I expected to get the cake I wanted... Especially when it was a design they advertised!!!! The guy that was there (who from what I was told was not the cake designer) asked me, "well what do you want me to do?" Being that I was on the way to the party, I didn't really have an option but to take the ugly cake. He said they would give me 10% off but because of my club member status, I automatically received 10% off so that discount was void!!!! I've also been there shopping a couple times when people were complaining about their cakes! read more

I ordered a cake on Wednesday that was for my daughter's birthday today. At 10 a.m., they began searching for my order. Ten minutes later, she brought a cake from the freezer which was damaged. She tried to hide the damage and then I noticed it was decorated wrong. I said this is not the cake I ordered and it is damaged. By now, the manager came up and went to the back to talk to 2 women. He came back and apologized, refunded my money, and asked me to take this cake. I brought it home, put it on a glass platter, and put it in a dark area of the room for the surprise later on. I happened to go in that room for something and noticed all the decorative frosting on the sides fell off the cake!!! It looks a hot mess! I will NEVER patronize this Safeway again and will NEVER order a cake from Safeway again! I have bought cakes for special occasions from Safeway over 20 years. I'm done!!! read more

How can a store be totally out of eggs? I go here from time to time as I prefer Raley's. This store always most times is out of an item for what I need from my list and I end up having to go to another store read more

This store is a complete mess! I rather drive an extra 15 minutes to go to a different supermarket! There pharmacy is the worst pharmacy I have every been to. To top it off the didn't even apologize for the errors the acted like it was my fault! read more

This is for the pharmacy where I was a customer for five years. I am disabled after several failed spinal surgeries and have permanent nerve damage and pain. I had received my pain medications there with no problems until the head pharmacist Mike decided he wanted my medical records my neurologist had just filled out a 10 page medical review report with all my surgeries, DX codes, MRI findings, etc. my doctor was out of the country helping with the poor in Guatuluma and I had a copy of the report signed by my doctor and faxed it to the pharmacy. They denied me because it wasn't sent from the physicians office which was closed as he was out of the country. They I guess assumed the report was fake even though they know my doctors signature. Why would I risk possible criminal charges to fake a report. So I never would use them again. I had a friend who was a former 30 year employee of Safeway and was dying of Cancer his daughter brought in his prescriptions for his pain meds and they refused to give them to her because they were from a GYN but has they had any knowledge of this very special doctor they would know he volunteers as a Hospice doctor. He visited my friends father everyday until he passed away. He called the pharmacist and gave him a piece of his mind. How dare them go against a physician! Go to CVS if you want good service! read more

Came here for a quick shopping and the security guard there, Hispanic looking about mid 30s or early 40s was very perverted. He whistled at me and my other 2 friends when we walked past him down an aisle and then he winked at me as well. First of all, Safeway itself is okay. The bakery, however, is horrible! I ordered a cupcake cake that should have read "Happy Birthday Christian," but instead said "Happy Birthday Christina." The frosting and everything else had been done sloppy. My little sister who bakes could have done a much better job than the cake I received. Not to say that the bakers here are terrible people, but should just take it up a notch with the quality of their cakes! I'm super disappointed! I asked for lime green frosting and I got yellow! YELLOW! Though near on the color wheel, I would have never guessed that a hired baker would get their colors wrong! I paid about $35.00 for a crappy cake. Never again will I order a cake from their bakery! The quality and designs are not as well as I expected. If you choose to order a cake here (which I highly recommend you don't), make sure to check it before you take it home, a mistake I just made. read more

They have the most stupid Corporate rules I have ever heard. I finally decided to signed up for a Safeway card three weeks ago. Have completed the app and turned it in right there to one of their employees. I dropped by to the store yesterday and they have the soda on special sale - buy two get two free but if u have signed up for the Just For You coupons you get one pack extra. Since I have an iPhone, getting this app is no problem. But once I entered all my card info and hit submit it said that they don't recognize my card. How can it be if I already turned in my application three weeks ago? So after the purchase we went to customer service to find out. The girl that was helping us was nice in the beginning. We have explained to her what the situation was about and she said "well show me where on the phone u have this app" and we did and tried to log in but it still say my card is not recognizable. She then said if you havent use ur card three or more times after u signed up the corporate won't recognize it. But she is able to give me the buy two get two free soda but just not the one pack extra from the Just For You coupon. To confuse us more she said we can give it to u but u have to come back later. Umm first of all I don't live that close to ur store, secondly it's because ur corporate has setup this stupid rules so people can't get their discount. I mean why do i need to use three or more times before they can recognize me? My husband and I were very frustrated on this because they are not making things easier for their customers. At the end of the conversation the girl that was helping us that I said was nice earlier? Well I don't know where she learn her customer service from but she failed it totally because she started to get frustrated with us. The tone of her voice was not nice at all. At the end not only they lost the sale but they lost us as a customer too. In fact they don't even deserve any star from me at all! read more

If I could, I would give negative stars. Many years ago I used to shop at this store, but now only go in very occasionally if I am in the area. This store has turned in to a pathetic excuse for a grocery store. So many examples, but the one that really gets me is this one. If you purchase hot food from the deli, you are forced to pay for it at the deli register...even if you have a cart full of groceries. This is not a Safeway policy but a local one set by the manager per two of the employees I asked. Apparently they allege to have problems with people taking the food, so instead of tackling the problem, they choose to not trust any of their customers. How disrespectful and rude. Who would want to spend their hard earned money in a store that does not trust you. Further, who would want to give their money to Safeway, a company that allows their managers to set up arbitrary rules that insult the customers and the communities they do business in. This store charges the same prices as other Safeways, but offers sub par insulting service. I have seen management walking the floor, they looked sloppy, unfriendly, and down right confrontational. Safeway, put some effort into this store and act like you actually give a crap about your customers, and maybe you would see a difference...but the reality is Safeway is probably letting this store run itself into the ground until it is forced to close. read more

Do NOT order a cake from THIS bakery! I came in to order an anniversary cake for my parents. I wanted the look of a wedding cake. The girl that helped take my order was great!! Showed me all these different wedding cake designs I could choose from. And said I could do two tiers and a side cake since they can't make a 3 tier because that is considered a wedding cake- which they can't do. I was so excited when I left! It was going to be beautiful! Two and half weeks later I come in to pick up my cake on the way to the big anniversary party. It was HORRIBLE!!! Everything about it was wrong! There was no designs of the side, the ribbon and roses were two different colors, there were pink dots ALL over! ( it was suppose to be red roses I have no idea where or why they thought pink dots went with red roses) and the small side cake was crooked!!! I tell the boy the cake is wrong- he offered me $5 off!? What!? The line of people behind me ask what's wrong with it and I say I have to go and set up for this party what can I do now? But everyone there said NO get the manager! That's not right! They need to comp that! So we asked for the manager. She was so RUDE! Told us they don't make specialty cakes and I can't bring in a picture and have them make it. I told her that's not what happened your employee gave me a book and said what do you like? I chose. She wrote it down. This is not it! This "MANAGER" fought and argued with us for quite some time! Said she would take off the pink dots and it would be perfect. How? With dents left where the pink was? And that's not the only issue with the cake. She said she would give us half off. At this point the way she was talking to us like we are idiots and accusing us of lying about what someone there told us we were not going to let this go....we asked to speak to her manager. She turned this into a waiting game- knowing we needed to leave. When she came back from "looking for her manager" he was too busy dealing with an "emergency" to come talk to us. So we continued with her. I told her again the girl pulled out a book to show me cakes. So she goes into the drawer and pulled out pages from an old book and says this is what we have. I am wrong! SO I LOOK through the pile she pulled out and FIND the book I was showed!!! But of course I am STILL WRONG because they do not make those! That is NOT my problem!!!!!! Your employee told me I could order this! So finally she says you paid $48 I will give you $44 back. FINE! Let's go! And I will call a manager Monday and deal with this. BUT she "accidentally " gives me back $24! For this she can apologize not the fact that she talked to me like I was an idiot and was sooo rude to me and accusing me of lying like I was trying to get out of paying for a cake! NEVER EVER AGAIN will I be going to this bakery! read more

Soooooo SICK of this store in Hilo, Hawaii!!! Last week I bought a loaf of their bread ( Safeway Brand). The next day when I opened it and took out a slice there were MAGGETS on the bread, my hand and in the loaf. A couple of flies flew out when I opened it. On several occassions the bread was moldy before I could eat a third of the loaf. They told me I could NOT return it if it's been opened...SERIOUSLY!!! Yeasterday I bought the $5 fried chicken in the cooler section. It had been refried SOOOOOO many times the meat was completely Dried out and NOT edible. Dog would not even eat it. Again they said I could NOT return it. Even with my Reciept. I went on the Website to file a complaint and there is no link to do so and when you search for it the option does NOT exist. I guess since it's an Island they think they can do whatever the @(*$ they want...AND they do. The cheese cooler has been out for 4 months!!!! No gourmet cheeses. Seriously!?!!! 4 Months!!! An why do they have 15 or so checkouts and 3 are only open. It took me almost 45 minutes to check out. What happened to Customer Service!!! read more
