I had to be CPR certified for a new job and Mike and Cheryl were recommended to me. They are amazing and so nice! I took the Heartsaver CPR AED course. It was only $50. Very affordable! And they give you the workbook with it, and I got my card the same day. When I took the course, it was only me, which was great! I love one-on-one teaching and it made it a lot easier and more comfortable to learn. Cheryl was very kind and willing to answer all of my questions. She makes sure you understand everything before moving on and before you leave the course. They both have experience in health care, and Cheryl is a registered nurse and works at USC. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly. Cheryl and Mike were both very welcoming and kind and made me feel very comfortable. I learned a lot in the class compared to other classes I have taken elsewhere due to Cheryl's excellent instruction. She also kept me focused b/c she is informative and entertaining. Took class with my 72 yr old mom. It was a great class, like others said, comfortable, everything is explained thoroughly. I have taken a few CPR classes and by far this was my favorite. Cheryl was so understanding and sensitive to our needs, I was recently in a CPR situation and wanted my mom to take it ASAP. They were very accommodating. I'm not in healthcare, just wanted a refresh my cert was exp. and my mom, 1st time in 30 years or so. I called on a Friday January 13th to schedule my class for Monday January 16th at 9:30 am on the phone Cheryl was so kind and polite, the class I chose was The BLS (Basic Life support) class which about 5 to 6 hours I split it in 2 days I learned so much from Cheryl's class arriving on Monday morning her husband was so welcoming and I did not feel awkward at all being in the home it was clean,cozy and spacious spending those 2 days with her was a pleasure I learned so much and asked as many questions as I wanted and she was more than happy to answer I am looking forward to working with Cheryl and her husband again, if you are on the fence about taking this class don't!! I completely forgot that it was that time again to Renew my BLS card. My employer ended up suspending me for the day and I immediately had to find a place to renew ASAP. What a great class! I took a CPR class through the Red Cross a few years back and I learned more in the first ten minutes at Safety Skills than I did in my whole class time at the Red Cross. Cheryl is a wonderful teacher, she's very knowledgable, warm, funny, and patient. She really knows what she's doing because she's been a nurse for 30 years. It's very hands on, if you don't understand something she'll explain it until you get it. It's a very relaxed and laid back environment too. Cheryl signed me up for a one-on-one class the day before, and clearly explained the all-inclusive fee for the CPR/AED class: $50, which included the reference book. Her class started promptly at her very comfortable home location, and included great animations on DVD explaining the difference between a heart attack and fibrillation, and how chest compressions make the blood flow. She had sufficient adult, child, and infant mannequins for hands-on practice and closely supervised my technique, never rushing the class and checking for my understanding. Safety Skills was by far the best CPR training experience I have ever had. In previous classes with other instructors, I got the feeling that the teacher did not really care, and was just going through the motions. Not with Cheryl. She is animated, happy, and you can tell that she really loves her job. She makes sure everyone knows what they are doing, and will gladly answer any questions you have.
