Worst experience here. Arrived on time for my 10AM appointment and was told it would be @2 hours. Came back in 2 hours and they had yet to start and told me that it would be another 2+ hours from the time they started it. THEN the person replacing took a look at my paperwork and said that they were not sure the replacement would work with the glass that they had ordered and that they would need to order it from the dealer. So they sucked 2+ hours of my life just to look at it and say they would not be able to fix it. There was no notice that they were running 2 hours behind and their excuse was they had multiple 10 AM appointments. Isn't that the whole point of making an appointment? read more

Safelite Stamford installed windshield incorrectly and could not fix properly after 5 attempts. Even worse they sent me emails confirming successful recalibration when warning lights were obviously indicating otherwise. Finally the windshield lining came out in the car wash a month later. We have Geico insurance and Geico scheduled our appointment 10 days out. Meanwhile I am driving my kids around in an unsafe vehicle with a cracked windshield. I finally show up for my appointment and Safelite has no record of my appointment. I find the appointment confirmation email and show it to the receptionist. She looks in another system and says that my appointment was cancelled. I am in total disbelief. She said to check my spam folder and, lo and behold, there was a robo email stating without any explanation that my appointment had been cancelled. They never bothered to call me. I was so angry that I asked to speak with Scott the district manager. He called me and explained this Safelite is unable to get windshields for Mercedes in a predictable fashion. I asked why they robo-cancelled my appointment by email and never bothered calling me. He didn't have an explanation. By the way, if you ever need to call a local Safelite branch, GOOD LUCK. It's easier to get the CEO of Geico on the phone than it is to call a human at your local Safelite branch. Indeed I accomplished the former, but failed at the latter. I hate giving such a bad review, but I'm not sure why this business couldn't do a little better? This was my first time having a windshield repair in my vehicle of over 200,000 miles, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was certainly not it. My windshield got smashed due to a storm, and the following day I called my insurance immediately to set up repair. Having never done this before, I didn't know of any place, and they suggested Safelite in Stamford. Seemed fine to me. They said the first available date was the following week later, which was a drag, but being so I was going on two long trips shortly after that date, I immediately took it. The day before my date of windshield repair, I called to confirm the service, and was surprised to be told that I didn't have an actual "appointment", but an "all day drop off", meaning that it would take until possibly 5 PM that day to be repaired. That was not at all what I was expecting, but I really had no choice at that point. I made sure to have my vehicle there the night before, so it could be worked on immediately when they open to the shop the next morning. The following day I called to ask again about the appointment, and was told that they were going to work on my car "in between other appointments all day long". Why did those appointments have priority over mine? Didn't I also have an appointment? Everyone I spoke to who had ever had a windshield repair told me it's usually very quick, often under an hour, so this all really surprised me. Well, they finish the vehicle in the mid afternoon, and I went over to get it and start my first trip later than I had hoped. When I drove away I noticed how very dirty the front of my car was. This was very noticeable to me, because earlier that week I had freshly washed my car seats and put them on completely clean, as well I had wiped down my dashboard and all the surfaces in the front with Armor All wipes and got that really clean as well. But now driving off my vehicle, late to what I was hoping to get to, I see that there is grit, dust, and dirt all over the dashboard and in the door well of my car. I didn't have time to turn around, but I called them, under the advice of my sister, and to their credit they said that they would clean up the car when I returned from my trip. Well today I went to them to do that, feeling awkward about having to ask them in the first place. I said, "clean, you know, the door well and the dashboard etc." and the guy who took my keys waved me off saying he knew what to do. I was very surprised when they said they had finished, to return to my car and see that there was still grit all over the dashboard and in the door well! I went back and asked them to clean that again, which felt really awkward at this point, but quite frankly I'm not sure what the miscommunication was? Isn't this standard? The service person ended up cleaning the door well a bit, but never cleaned the dashboard. I gave up on trying to ask anymore. And then upon leaving notice that they also got my freshly cleaned car seats dirty! I couldn't believe it. It felt pointed at this point? I don't know why this establishment did this so badly. Is it because I'm a woman? I couldn't tell you. Asking politely for them to do their service didn't work. Clearly this is an establishment I will not be returning to again. read more

Call to make an appointment, was instructed to do it via the website (that should have been my first flare when no one wants to talk to you) Made the appointment for between 8am to 12pm, never heard a word. I called and was on hold for a 1/2 hour before I hung up. They didn't keep the appointment and never bothered to contact me. Replaced my windshield but cracked my driver mirror and scratched the hell out of my hood. What a joke.

The first time I used Safelite the installer came to me and broke the windshield cowl, I let it go and gorilla taped it together. The second time I went to them in Stamford as it was raining . Later that day as I'm on I-95, I notice both mouldings on the sides of the windshield flapping in the breeze, so I pull over and notice there are no fasteners on both mouldings. So I gorilla taped them down so I could get to work. So if you're looking for shoddy workmanship done fast you should go to Stamford Safelite, and maybe they will break parts they don't replace for you too. read more

Why can you NOT speak directly to the location?!?!? Everything routes through the main lines. Even the "direct" #'s! Ridiculously frustrating! And the people at the 800 or 866 #'s are cluless. They literally came back at me with, "here's your appt time and date.", No, what time is good for you, etc. I have NO idea how long this will take, what they need to do, etc. Horrible communication. My friend made appointment for me when she saw my windshield had a hole. She knew Safelite would contact my insurance to get pay, knowing it cover it. Within three days they came to my home and replaced the whole window. The repair person noticed another chip. The hole was about an inch but was impairing my view and eventually would spread and break. He was very professional, friendly and did an excellent job in making sure was done properly and correctly. I work in Stamford, CT and scheduled an appointment on Monday for Friday from 12 noon - 5. At around 2 pm, I started wondering if the technician would show up, and upon checking my appointment on the Safelite website, saw that it had been moved to Tuesday. No heads up, no checking with me to see if I was available at that time, no text alert. I called and was told that the shop manager had changed the appointment, and was put on hold while the shop was contacted. The agent was unable to do so and wanted me to take down the shop's number and call them until I got through. Seriously? My guess is that most people probably get a replacement windshield once... maybe twice in their lifetimes. This was my first, so I wasn't entirely aware of the process. Therefore, the only fault I have with Safelite is in the realm of communication. Perhaps just take a take a few minutes to speak to the customer to give them an overview of the process and the costs involved. I wasn't sure how it all worked, and before I knew it I was handing over my keys. It was my fault as well though, for not asking enough direct questions. This was an insurance job, and I happen to have full glass coverage. My original 10-year old windshield was severely micro-pitted. In general it looked okay, but at night (headlights) or when driving towards a rising or setting sun, the entire thing would go nearly white with sparkling dots. There were times when I had to stick my head out the window to see the road ahead! So I was doing a full replacement. Anyway, everything worked out just fine. The crew at Safelite in Stamford were very nice and super prompt. Within 5 to 10 minutes of arriving, my car was in the bay. There was some discussion among the techs regarding the molding around the windshield on my car, and I took that as a good thing... they were actively trying to avoid any potential mistakes. I was told that the job would take 90 minutes, which is exactly what I was expecting. I took the opportunity to go for a walk down Summer street to find some lunch. It all worked out perfectly. After almost exactly 1.5 hours, I returned and my car was wrapping up. The tech, Victor, introduced himself and walked me out to take a look at the finished job. He is a nice guy, and the glass looked pretty darn good. The glass is FUYAO in case you guys wanted to know. Personally I know nothing about glass manufacturers, but it definitely looks okay good to me. I haven't detected any aberrations or defects anywhere yet. (Unlike my Honda Odyssey, which came from the factory with some wavy glass that absolutely bugs me when I look in specific directions. Heck, maybe I should get that replaced as well.) Okay, I'm rambling now. All in all it was a fine experience that I would easily recommend to a friend. My insurance company gave me the option to choose any auto glass place, but I chose Safelite Stamford because of the generally great reviews. So far, I think it was a good choice. read more

Summary: Prompt service, great forms of communication, speedy process, impeccable work and most importantly, superb customer-service - from desk to field agents. I booked my appointment for the morning thinking they'd take their time given the 6-hour gap, but I received a text first thing at 8 am informing me they were on their way. I was also able to change my address location down the street (to my gym) where they arrived at the expected time. The technician was very pleasant, helpful and friendly. He assured me the job will be done within the hour. I came out of the gym an hour later and my windshield had been fixed, the wipers had been replaced, my car had been vacuumed and he even sprayed a breezy scent. Overall surprised at how fast the process was accomplished but more impressed with the quality, customer-care and commitment to the service . Safelite made an appointment to come out and fix my car window. They had me waiting all day never showed up. When I called got a message that they were closed approached our via text. They then proceeded to tell me that they didn't have the part needed that I would have to go buy it myself and then bring it to a rescheduled appointment. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Took three tries to get a window fixed. The first time the window they'd ordered arrived big scratches, so they installed it, and said they'd set up another appointment to swap it out for a new one. I waited at home for the second appointment and the technician never showed. When I called I found out that they'd gotten the wrong window in, but the technician never called to cancel, he just no-showed while I waited for him at home. The third time I brought the car to them to make sure the technician and window would both be there and it finally got done correctly. Would love to give this place a better rating. Went in to replace a windshield over a month ago. Replacement was put in fine except had a scratch on the inside. They said will replace through warranty. Which they did. However after putting the new windshield on my front camera started malfunctioning. They said maybe it is not sitting right. So got me a genuine glass now and same thing. Staff is nice but afraid they messed up my camera and now going to have to go to the dealership and pay out of pocket to get fixed. read more

I had a small chip in my windshield of my new car. I made an appointment, it was delayed because of back order on the windshield, not a problem. I come in, they are taking out my old windshield when they accidentally cut into my pinch weld under my windshield about 4 inches. They then have to get me a rental car while the fix the damage. This is so they can actually put on the new windshield. I get the car back 2 days later and I find after it rains, there is water leaking into my car on the passenger side floor, my 3 month old car. I call them to tell them about the leak. They tell me I will need to come in and they might have to take the whole windshield off my car again. They've accepted responsibility for the work they do, but I don't want anyone going in thinking they will get it right the first time. It was what I thought and now I'm spending way more time that I wanted getting this fixed. Not sure if it's a safelight in general thing or a Stamford Safelight thing. Just be aware. read more

Arrived 1/2 hr early for a recent windshield replacement on my Abarth, and was accommodated within 10 minutes. Replacement took just over an hour--less time than promised. Only "gripe": just like after a windshield replacement at the same shop about 2 years ago (a Mini Clubman that time), the lower plastic cover for the windshield no longer snaps securely into place in one spot--a fastener has gone missing. I'm absolutely disgusted by the branch in Stamford, CT. My grandfather is 83 years old and is cranky. ( like any older man) This company has put him through so much unneeded aggravation. First with the wrong glass, then not getting back to him for over a week, didn't clean up the old glass that was broken, and they also left tape on the top and side of the car. It took almost a month to get it done (kinda) right. The Ford emblem was also not on the replacement piece. You would think if they knew they wouldn't be able to put the emblem back on the new piece, they would order one with it already on it. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else. read more
