Anthony was very friendly and punctual. The team that he works with were also friendly and on-time. Anthony has an excellent eye for design, and was very helpful with suggestions for spacing and placement. He was also sure to take care of all the details, including removing existing speakers and lights that would no longer fit and properly patching up holes. They did exceptional work, and we are so happy with the finished product. We look forward to working with him again for our lighting.

There are 3 receptacles with switch and plugs and a fan to be installed. For all of those to be operational we needed to run a dedicated electrical line to the panel. This portion of the work connected the lines from the gazebo - went underground for a short span then in through the stucco - under the house and up through the wall to reach the panel in the garage. We worried how well that would go, if it would look okay... it went perfect! The exterior boxes are neat and clean looking and the connection in the garage is practically invisible. He told me instead of calling him out for another half day to investigate the lights, I should try a few things first and went through some hypotheses (based on the investigations he already did). With the information he gave me I was able to debug and fix the issue myself saving me money. I'd highly recommend BMH for anyone looking for electrical work.

Meeting Matthew Shields was one of the highlights of my estate sale journey. Matthew is not only an…read moreincredibly knowledgeable expert in antique lighting and restoration, but also a true artist and craftsman. His specialty and personal passion is 18th-century antiques, while my taste leans more toward vintage Hollywood Regency and French-inspired décor. Even though this chandelier wasn't the style he would typically choose for himself, he restored it with extraordinary care, attention to detail, and respect for its history. When it was finished, he stepped back and said, "It came out beautiful," and he was absolutely right. He transformed my vintage Schonbek chandelier into a breathtaking centerpiece. Every crystal was thoughtfully placed, the brass finish is stunning, and his knowledge of Strass crystals, antique lighting, and restoration is exceptional. He shared his expertise generously and made the entire experience enjoyable. Beyond his talent, Matthew is simply a wonderful person--kind, honest, patient, and passionate about preserving beautiful pieces. It's rare to meet someone with this level of craftsmanship and integrity. I am so grateful our paths crossed. If you're looking for someone who treats every antique with the respect it deserves and delivers museum-quality work, I recommend Matthew Shields without hesitation.

The original pull…read morechain was string type and finally after years of pulling on and off, it started showing the wear and tear and began to fray. The fraying started a while ago and I was procrastinating about replacement, but now it was to a point that it was going to snap at any time, and it was time to replace. I was debating on replacing the lamp rather than spend the money to repair and I decided to repair it. I dropped it off on a Saturday afternoon and woman said it would be ready by Monday. I wasn't expecting it to be replaced so quickly. The cost of the replacement socket--the pull chain couldn't be replaced on its own--was $9.50, reasonable. The labor though was $28, and the total cost was almost $40. While I could have just purchased a new bed lamp for less than that, considering the alternative was having an otherwise good lamp go to landfill. I thought it was worth it price and now my lamp will last many more years. If you have lamp repairs, I would definitely bring it to Carlos Lighting for repair and support this local Mom and Pop business.
