Neil is amazing. I didn't know how much we needed Neil's help until he finished child proofing our home. He is a master craftsman and installed the gates cleanly and added extra pieces of wood to make sure the gate would be level and flush with the walls. In addition he know all the safety products on the market so he suggests the items that are the most functional and user friendly. If you are on the fence about hiring someone to baby proof your home just do it. Everything would have been sloppy if we tried to do it ourselves; we would have destroyed our walls. Also, Neil does all the work the same day as the estimate so he in and done. I am really thankful to Neil for doing this for us. This business is a dream for parents!! After driving ourselves crazy for a week chasing our toddler through 100 different death traps in our new house, we now have baby gates, window guards, cabinet latches, and more, and the whole thing took an impossibly quick 3 hours from start to finish. We started with a walk-through of the house, which I was expecting to be overblown and sales-pitchy, but it was the opposite. Jeffrey is friendly and kind, and he is a true professional. He is passionate about safety (ask him why he started the business), and he knows what he's doing. We walked through and had a casual chat about where our toddler usually goes and what he need to keep him from getting into, and Jeff kept a running log of the work. He was not pushy in the slightest -- we only got one cabinet latch, one outlet cover (theirs are far more innovative than the ones you typically buy, by the way) and two window guards, based on where our toddler would be and under what circumstances. He didn't push us to babyproof every inch of the house or anything close to it. Then we minded our own business for a couple hours until he finished installing it, he showed us how it worked, and we wrote a check. Done! I liked how flexible the process was to our needs. We needed an oven latch, so Jeff sort of built one; we have an outdoor area where our toddler needs to be protected from the stairs but it's too big for a gate, so they made an appointment to get a mesh fence out of the pool fence materials. If I was forced to give one area of room for improvement, I wish that they have a way to help babyproof cords and wires from TVs, etc. The prices were reasonable for top-notch materials and professional installation (I'd say if you are babyproofing a whole house, budget at least $1000). After our baby began to crawl, my husband and I belatedly started to research childproofing products online - but we were overwhelmed by the breadth of options, and weren't sure which were the safest or when we'd be able to squeeze in the time to install everything given our busy schedules. A work colleague referred me to Safe Beginnings, and it was absolutely worth it to have a professional come in who clearly cares about safety (and has kids himself), and does this every day as his job (so knows the best product for every concern and can install them in a flash). I'm recommending Neal to all of my friends who are thinking about getting pregnant! Here's a more detailed breakdown of my experience: 1. Easy scheduling: Neal gave me a prompt callback, clearly explained what to expect, and offered appointment times that meshed with our work schedules. 2. Low-key walk-through, and great customer service: Neal began the visit by touring our entire house and listening to our concerns. He then outlined potential solutions for each piece of furniture or area of the house, and we worked together on a final list of products, which he installed the same day. He wasn't aggressively pushy about baby proofing every last inch, and in fact was able to convince us that a few areas weren't the death traps that we had imagined them to be! Neal also didn't take advantage of us - we were ready to childproof all of the electrical outlets in the whole house, but he pointed out that when our house was renovated, the developer had apparently installed tamper proof outlets, which we weren't even aware of. I've worked with plenty of contractors that would have installed (unnecessary) outlet covers and charged us for it without blinking an eye... 3. Efficient installation: I can't stress enough what a relief it was to have Neal install everything, and I was amazed by how quickly he finished everything up! Even the simpler products would have taken awhile for an amateur to install, and we wouldn't have had a clue about some of the more complicated items (like installing a gate at the top of the stairs in a manner that was incredibly sturdy but didn't damage our wooden bannisters). 4. Reasonable pricing: Neal's prices seemed very fair, given the cost of goods plus his time. 5. Great results: Our toddler is now much more mobile and curious, and has thoroughly tested out most of Neal's work ;) Everything has stood up well, which has given us peace of mind. Neal was great to work with you. He was clear, on-time and responsive to e-mails. He did not try and sell us stuff we did not need. He even identified potential hazards we had not considered. He gave a quote and did the work in an efficient manner. When we had a slight problem with a couple of the electrical socket covers he came back and swapped them out, no questions asked. Neal was so awesome for all of our childproofing needs when we moved to a new house. It was a day-long process, as making sure stair gates are sturdy and attached to the wall/in the studs is so important (as opposed to normal tension gates that we were using for rooms in our last place.) Since the studs are often not straight across from each other, I was worried it would look pretty bad -- but Neal not only worked with us to make it functional and as attractive as possible for safe baby gates, but he also humored (with no judgment) my need for straight lines/alignment. Neal was personable, super safe with Covid precautions (mask, distance, took his shoes off, lunch break outside), and didn't push any of his recommendations. Absolutely delighted with Safe Beginnings Childproofing service. I have been searching for a service to come in and child proof our home as our son is ramping up to be on the move in the next few months. I called about three different services and either never heard back or got pushed off to mid summer. Neal got back to me right away, explained how he works, set up an appointment and confirmed a time for a visit on that same call. He arrived on time and we did a thorough walk through the house to see areas that needed help. He also showed me a few safety features that I already had but wasn't aware off! After assessing the work that needed to be done, he gave me his estimate and completed the entire job in a few hours. We have a winding metal stair case that leads to the master bedroom and he was able to install a gate in a tricky space - that was one of our major concerns. It's great to know that our condo was professionally reviewed and is now safe for our son. We also saved many hours of research and Home Depot visits in trying to figure out how to do everything ourselves. Jeff did an amazing job! We have a 17 month old boy and another TBD on October 20th so it was important to baby proof the house. Jeff went through our entire home and showed us potential hazards we weren't even aware of. The custom gate around the fire place and into our family room look amazing and our little guy doesn't mind it at all. We also changed out 85 outlet covers that look 100% better than the plugs you put in.
