Safari does good work and their staff is friendly, but their prices are ridiculously high. I have been using them for years and never compared price until recently and realized that paying almost $500 to snake a bathtub drain is crazy. There are too many other plumbers out there and I think anyone with budget limitations needs to let their computer do the walking. read more

It's a dirty stinking job doing plumbing. That said, the plumber was professional, on-time, and presentable. About 10 years ago, I discovered the bolts securing the base of the toilet, were completely rusted. This minor problem started an expensive complete basement renovation. The basement toilet and flange was replaced by professional plumbers. Recently the basement toilet started liquid leaking at the base (again!), and we were referred to Safari Plumbing. Daniel explained that the uneven basement floors found in older homes, required another thicker seal(!). (this was the original problem with the original toilet installation and repeated again 10 years ago!) I think it pays to have a professional doing the work, especially in an older home with its peculiarities! read more

Sweet plumber came to diagnose problem. When Intried to book follow up, horrible front office person yelled at me on the phone. Quoted $350 to change two parts on my bathtub faucet after I picked up the parts. Follow up pricing was a complete rip off. read more

Avoid calling this company as they will manage to turn a simple plumbing problem into a complicated issue so they can milk thousands of dollars. During the holiday season, Safari plumber turned a simple kitchen sink clogging into a nightmare issue, after selecting $869 packages to clear the kitchen sink, the Safari plumber with little experience managed to crack the pipe going down the kitchen floor causing a nightmare. He had no clue what to do, in the process of cutting a PVC pipe he managed to crack the pipe, I kicked him out of my residence but to my supersize he did take away the entire U-trap assembly under the sink, I had to pay another experienced plumber to replace the assembly and fix the problem. I did hear that Safari plumbing is known to turn a simple pluming problem into a complicated one to milk the desperate customer. read more

Excellent service from start to finish. We had a drain blockage in a basement pipe that was backing up into the sinks, bathtub, and toilet on the first floor of our 115-year-old home in centretown. Safari was great to deal with on the phone and in every other interaction. They came quickly, placed a protective carpet in our vestibule and wore blue booties in our place to keep it clean, gave us a quote in advance, solved the problem completely including showing us the inside of our 100-year-old pipe so we could see exactly where the blockage had been as well as the condition of the pipe, we're extremely pleasant to deal with, and left our place in very good order. My rating would be ------had a failed sewage pump. Plumber came on Monday afternoon, without a sewage pump. Told me he couldn't fix it until Thursday, then quoted be a huge price. Called his office, now he said he could do it......but had to get a sewage pump. Went got that then went downstairs, spent a few minutes, came up and said he couldn't do it, "because there was sewage in the tub and toilet". Same sewage that was there when he first looked at it, 20 minutes before!!!!! He tells me "I" have to find somebody to pump it out........."I have to find somebody!!!!!!!" He said he had a shop vac, but he didn't want to ruin it!!!! I said I would pay for the shop vac, just do it.......he wouldn't. He said if I found somebody to pump it out, he would come back that night, but he didn't want to be working until 9:00 or 10:00 at night!!!!!! So Safari Plumbing left me and my tenant with raw sewage in my basement......and I have never heard back from them other than an email asking me how happy I was with their service!!!!!!!!!! I think the position they left this 70 year old women and her tenant in is horrible. So I started calling around that night (now 4:00) to find somebody to pump out the sewage.......all seven companies I spoke to and explained the situation said, "pumping out the sewage is the plumbers job!!!!!?????" So I am SO stressed out, what am I going to do, so I get on line and find a company and explain the mess Safari Plumbing has left me in. Only expecting a reply the next day, but to my surprise in 10 minutes I get a reply, saying yes they could fix it, and yes they would be pumping the sewage out, and would tomorrow at 2:00 work for me!!!!! They came at two, USED A SHOP VAC cleaned out the sewage, put in a new pump IN ONE HOUR and charged me HALF the price.....HALF THE PRICE!!!! The plumber from Safari never called me back that night, or since, but he was sure to get his $55.00 service charge.......what service.......I would like to be reimbursed that service charge, I believe that is the ONLY SERVICE Safari can provide me. we had a clogged toilet at 4:30pm, called Safari and they answered the phone and told me that they would have a plumber to our house between 5:00 and 5:30pm....at 5:15 the doorbell rang, clean and presentable man came, assessed the situation....he had his little booties to go over his boots to keep our floors clean and in 10 min. had everything sorted out. he also took the time to adjust the floats on another toilet and give us some advice on a vent for our island sink. great, quick service. read more

WOW. I am so impressed with the professionalism and care exhibited by Safari. From the moment I spoke on the phone with the owner, who got me to do some assessments over the phone to see if it was something I could fix on my own or something that would need to be looked at to when the plumbers arrived at my home precisely on time and made sure to cover their shoes so my floor wouldn't get dirty. They were fast, friendly and discussed options with me and ensured I spent as little money as possible, while still solving the issue - there were no surprise fees and they left the space cleaner than when they started. I had no plumbing knowledge and Safari was the 1st plumber I used. Safari got my credit card number beforehand and charged me about $1200 for clearing a blocked toilet drain in a condo terrace home. My bad dealings with Safari and what I've learnt so far confirmed my view that Safari held me for ransom, charged me almost twice the price of other plumber for the same work and took advantage of my lack of knowledge of plumbing services/market. Safari plumber persuaded me to agree his work under his recommended Safari 1st option-snake through that he said would fix the blockage problem 99% of the time and would cost me about $300 including its $49 service fee and it's a good deal. But 20 minutes later, he asked me to go up to Safari 2nd option-toilet removal that cost me $1017 plus $49 service fee. I questioned Safari plumber that I relied/trusted his recommendation of the 1st option and had he told me in advance the 2nd option would cost me that much or recommended/quoted the 2nd option prior to the work, I definitely wouldn't have agreed to his doing any work regardless it's 1st or 2nd option and would have another plumber check the problem for a quote. As he didn't fix the problem, I asked if I disagreed with upgrading to Safari 2nd option, whether he'd only charge me $49 service fee. He firmly said if I disagreed, he'd leave and still charge me $300 1st option price even if he didn't fix the problem, which I felt he held me to ransom. Safari already got my credit card number beforehand to control its charges. Under such pressure and in desperation, I had to agree to and pay $1200 for Safari 2nd option to clear the toilet drain. 3 months later, the same toilet backed up again. Water went down to lower unit house. I informed neighbour and condo property manager that I just paid Safari $1200 to fix backup problems. Shocked by such a high price, the property manager recommended Canada Plumbing Inc for a 2nd opinion. I described to Canada Plumbing and sent them Safari's invoice that also described what Safar did. I understood then Safari would recommend its 1st option even if knowing it wouldn't fix the problem and then ask customers to and customers usually have to go up to its 2nd option as Safari still charges its 1st option work if customers don't accept its 2nd option. I knew then based on the problem description/onsite inspection, a slightly-experienced plumber would go straight with the work under Safari 2nd option and quote accordingly. I asked how much Canada Plumbing would charge for the same work done at the condo by Safari and they'd charge me $595 stated in writing. read more
