I saw the reviews but had a good experience with their service. My toilet had some issues with water pressure and it just wasn't flushing properly, it felt weak. They came around within time frame and adjusted a few things with my pipes and the Water resevoir. My toilet flushes better than when I first arrived. Good stuff guys! read more

We hired JTP to install a backwater valve. Their ads and quotes stated that they will help customers with city rebates (they didn't, nor did they get permits). Attempts to resolve this with the company were ignored. Attempts to resolve through the BBB were also ignored. Not recommended, untrustworthy company. read more

So, I call them up to install an LNG tap for a generator. I'm told on the phone that the technician would come out and give me a quote ( which would cost $40), but if I agreed to have him do the work during that visit, the $40 would be waived. Jason comes over, and tells me he can't do the job during the visit, and requests the $40, which I pay him in cash. Jason tells me he's sending me a receipt for the $40 as we are speaking in person, and when I go check my email...no email/no receipt. Jason tells me he can't even give me a ballpark idea as to how much the simple job will cost. How is that possible if they have done this work in the past???? No idea??? When I tell him I need to take out the cash to pay for the job, he tells me it would be $600 to $700, which is what I expected. A few hours later, I get a quote by email, and a simple quote for the job with no breakdown for parts and labour. Oh, the quote was almost triple the price with a demand for almost $750 upfront before they would schedule the job or even attend. As they already had my $40 which was supposed to be for them to come, quote, and do the work if I agreed on the quote, why the need for almost $750 in advance? Heck, it was a simple job and they should have the parts on hand anyway, so no need to pre-buy any expensive parts. The red flags are going up fast, so I decide to finally check their reviews. on this site there are what appear to be 18 well thought out and detailed written reviews with a 2.1 star rating out of 5 stars, with 1 star being the absolute lowest anyone can give. On other sites which I've never heard of, they have a rating of 4.8 stars out of 5, with over 1900 reviews. So I smell a rat.... I'm dubious that they even had 1900 customers, and even if they did, only a very very small percentage ever leave reviews unless they are leaving a bad review. So I check the reviews, and there are several reviews on the same day, and several on the previous day, and several on the previous day, etc. You get the point? Oh, and most are 5 star reviews, with only a few words if that, and no real detail, just generic words. I then get an email from Sherrie as to what I thought of the service from Jason, and I raise all the points I have here. I ask for an explanation and get no response. The way I look at it, is they suckered me out of $40 (no real loss), but at least they didn't catfish me for the $1500+tax that they quoted with almost $750 to be paid upfront before they even showed. So Johntheplumber, if you care to send me back my $40 that you didn't earn, and are not entitled to, I can revise this review, so you look "better"? My husband called John the plumber to get a quote to replace our kitchen sink (we were supplying the sink). He quoted us $1350 which was outrageous so my husband paid the $80 fee they charge to give the quote (which is also outrageous) and we sent him on his way. The next day we had a different plumber replace the sink and he charged us $300 and it took him approximately 1.5 hours. I don't know how John the plumber is out here quoting $900 an hour for jobs like replacing a sink supplied by the customer. Total scam. read more

They are a big scam!! so here it goes we had a simple leak from our upstairs washroom to our living room ceiling. we called by checking their online Fake reviews. The staff was way more polite to trap the customer and fixed the appointment. They said, they will charge $80 +taxes fee and will waive it if we take the service . so we thought they will give us a quote and it was a lie!! These 2 people showed up and stood in our washroom for 5 mins and did nothing and when we were asking questions what could be the cause they were simply saying we would cut the ceiling if you pay us $199 and then we will diagnose the problem only!! for fixing the problem it could go more than thousand extra. m'y husband even pointed that the leak must be clearly not the tub and it seems like it's coming from somewhere else. They didn't even bother to look anywhere else They just wanted the money!! so we let them go and they took $90 CASH!!for doing absolutely nothing!! so with our gut feeling we called a plumber from kijji and the moment he entered the house he pointed at the problem which was coming from toilet and not the tub. and he fixed it in 15 min and charged $100 for labour and parts!! These guys really helped me out in a bad situation. Shower control broke off in my hand with the water running. I had to rurn off the house supply 2 days before a family Christmas event at our place. They responded quickly, called to confirm and showed up on time. My expensive designer fixture did not have an available replacement cartridge (confirmed at E&P and Boone). No choice but to rip out the wall for lack if available $30 part. Thomas presented options and replaced the original Italian fitting with a MOEN part. They are very expensive to hire and they use a pricing scheme that included an automatic $350 charge when you involve any copper pipe soldering. Which was not advised to me over the phone when I asked about their costs on soldering and replacing copper fittings. (This pricing scheme would have made me seek other options) The job took about 20 minutes and in the end; the replacement about 2ft of copper 1/2 inch pipe and soldering only 4x fitting cost me the $350 +tax. The employee was polite and skilled, but the cost seems high for the work that was quoted and completed. Also beware of the high cost of them just to show up to quote your project. Which pressured me to accept the quote. I would not recommend this company to a friend due to the high costs and pricing scheme. read more

We had good luck with the company previously - quick and professional. This time I was quoted $1200 for what I was told, a complex repair. It ended being dead simple and taking 1 1/2 hours to complete. When I asked what went into the pricing - I wasn't griping - they simply refused to answer. Horrible business, sent payment for services rendered via money order. They said they never received it! Put a stop at the bank. Issued a second money order sent it by registered and express mail! While second was in transit they cashed the first one that they told me was lost? Then about a week after I tracked the second money order they cashed the second one!!! Correspondence was and is non existent can't get anywhere with these crooks. So I'm finally going to talk to the BBB and see what they can do for me, hopefully get them downgraded to thieves. Expensive, poor service. Problem re-occurred within the time of the warranty. Called the company and got YELLED AT by the receptionist. Said drain work is not covered under the warranty - never mentioned or written on the invoice. Avoid company at all costs, would not recommend. Receptionist hung up instead of listening. I requested them to install my washer and asked for estimated price. They said they could not say in advance but when the plumber is on site, they would give us a quote before they do it. I specifically asked them prior to booking to help us move the washer upstairs from garage and move the old washer downstairs, because we have back issues. They said they would help us moving the washer as well. So I booked with them. They showed up an hour late on the day, told us they would not do any moving, we had to do it ourselves. If we denied the service, we would be charged for service fee. We agreed to let them just hook up the washer (we had to do move the washer ourselves because they refused to do what they promised us). I got the bill for more than $300 just to hook up the washer. I called back the business, they said they would look into it, not even an apology, I have not heard back from them since. Professional, quick, and properly fixed. Had a burst copper pipe in the basement leading up to the hose in the garage. Called, had an actual person pick up, set an appointment, and within 24 hours they sent out a plumber. Cameron did a great job replacing the pipe and hose fixture. I had to call John the Plumber this past Friday - and had a really great experience! Since we moved into our house, the downstairs toilet has always been borderline broken. Well I guess it finally gave up - and it decided to flood our entire bathroom...and seep onto the hardwood floor. :( I'm clueless when it comes to plumbing - so I call the John the Plumber guys. We had somebody at our house within the hour. I was expecting to have to buy a whole new toilet and fork out wads of cash, but was really happy when the guy said he only had to replace some part inside the tank. It ended up costing a fraction of what I was expecting. It was really nice to have somebody honest, that was there to help and not just trying to make a buck! I'll be using them next time we have plumbing issues - and will be recommending them to my friends and fam. read more

We called them for a blocked toilet. I was at work but my wife was here when they arrived. The plumber was nice enough but he was at our house for less than an hour, he didn't need to replace anything or use any parts and we received a bill for $361!! Saw positive reviews on other sites so had them come out to replace the connection of 2 taps and put a valve so I could turn off the water - was supposed to be there between 1-4 so I took time off work - they arrived at 4.05 so not off to a good start - then they said the cost to cut the 4 pipes and install the valves $600 - I had a bathroom renovation scheduled 3 days later so agreed to have them do the work even though the price was double what I feel it should have been, the guy who came started to solder and set off my smike detectors did not stop working so I had to climb up and turn them off, he did not protect the wall so there is a scorch mark that I had to paint over, - reached out to their office over the pricing who said they would look into it - did not hear from them again - DO NO USE THEM - I certainly will never call them again read more

They got in contact with me and the business resolved the issue ASAP. We sorted it all out, and I am extremely happy to have done so.

In the beginning, they came to our basement reno every day, on time. They required too much money up front however, and after having gotten most of their contract, they were impossible to reach. The worst part though? The plumber we contacted to finish our job had to redo a large part of what they had already done as it was such shoddy work AND he said that we'd paid double what we should have for our project. For example, the water lines were improperly installed, there was no venting, there was no check valve where it was required by code, he used wrong size pipes in one spot, in essence, he cut as many corners as he could to get in and get out and most importantly to him, to get his cash. We really feel that John the Plumber (who is not the person who will do your work, by the way) is a crook. Beware of all the positive reviews that you see on other sites, there's no way that they can be from legitimate customers. read more

They told me to replace a wax ring in toilet would take lots of work, chipping tiles, etc. making me believe (yeah, I am a lady, just like another one who was happy for these guys saving her bathroom. you don't know how much you have spent more than needed though) it justifies the hundreds of dollars of charge. Then, I got another email from Agathe saying that it could be $250. After that I emailed him saying that he was overpricing me to which he reply by calling me dumb. We had a really small leak from somewhere in a three story house, with the water ending up in the basement. Peter came out and found the leak very quickly, in an hour and a half. While this may sound like a long time, I have restored homes and this problem was very subtle. The problem was pressure dependent, and was a very small crack in a drain pipe embedded in the wall. All the work was so poorly done it all had to be redone, all he did was argue that the work was done to exact standards, but the second plumber had to redo all the work, nothing lined up, just rushed and poorly done work. Not to mention expensive. I highly recommend to use someone else. read more

We have used John a couple of times in the past and have recommended him to colleagues and family. I must say that initially, he does good work. The issue that arises is with his follow-up/warranty work.... he does not do it. He does not honour his warranties. We contacted him about fixing a toilet he had previously serviced within the year. He didn't show up for two appointments, and has avoided us by saying he'll call back and never does or refuses to take our calls. If you call him for follow-up, beware if he says.... "I'm in the middle of a job, I'll call you in 20 minutes, and if I don't it means that I've forgotten, so call me back". If he says that to you.... you'll never see him again! I'm really sorry to have to write this kind of review, but I feel others should know if a service person does not stand behind his work. Hopefully, this will save others from missing work waiting for him to show up appointments he has no intention to keep. read more

Worst experience. Called for an appointment and was confirmed for 2-4 pm. Ask for them to call me if any changes. No calls. Take time off work....no one shows up. Plumber calls after 4 and says he cannot make he wanted to leave early and had told his company that. Says can he come at 9:30am next day. Change my plans again and tell him I am only available until just before noon. Call company and they have no idea about this and says between 10-12. Re-explain issue and concerns. Next day - no one shows up at 9:30. No-one shows up at 10. Call company and they have different plumber call me. Says he will come look, but likely needs two people and he works alone on the weekend - says he will need to rebook. Three times I have to leave work for nothing. I cancelled and went with another company that keeps to its word. Noticed they subcontract out the work as I talked to a few different plumbers...one with a Montreal phone number. We hired "John The Plumber" since seemed he had good ratings. Only later realizing you don't get John nor is there possibly no one with this name. They are scammers. I believe like someone else stated on here that he is a crook, doesn't even use his last name so he changes names to fool/scam people.
