Hi, I started at Budo through the groupon. A 1 hour Muay…read moreThai session was the gnarliest workout ever for me. I then got the 6-weeks unlimited trial, where you can try Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kyokushin karate. If you want to shape up, this is the best deal. You can go everyday and get a round for your money ! Instructors are super friendly and passioned, they can teach you basics for a great work out or make you do some sparring if you look for some challenge. The atmosphere is super friendly, people are great there. Just take the groupon and see for yourself !

It is extremely sweaty and hot in the gym if you don't mind. I went for Monday class, there is not really any structure on the fundamental teaching (although the class description says it is adult fundamental Muay Thai class). The fitness class is good, it is a circuit and plus the heat, you will sweat like a bucket, excellent warm up for the Muay Thai class. I have done Muay Thai before so I know the fundamentals but it might be confusing for someone who has never done it before. The students and the instructors are super nice and friendly. Overall it is very bang for the buck you paid for the groupon. I would go again just because I like the challenges.

I was a student at Master Gee's a number of years ago, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to…read morerecommend this school to anyone thinking about putting themselves or their children through martial arts training. Master Gee's is run by Master and Mrs Gee, a husband-and-wife team that do most of the teaching at the school. They are truly inspirational people -a compliment which I don't give out lightly. They care very much about their students, and anyone would be lucky to have them as a mentor. Even though it's been several years since I was a student here and I no longer live in the neighbourhood, I still think very highly of them and I mention this school to people thinking of studying the martial arts. Master Gee's has an excellent program for kids, and not only do they teach martial arts/self-defense, but they teach core values such as respect, self-discipline and thoughtfulness. This doesn't end with the kids program, though. I started as a white belt in my early 20's, and their adults program teaches the same core values. During this period in my life I was lacking self-confidence, and Master and Mrs Gee helped to instill this in me, along with physical fitness in a fun environment. For adults who fear they are "too old" to start, Master Gee's welcomes students of all ages. It's a very encouraging environment, and I recall people in my classes who were starting out well into their 40's, 50's and 60's. Being a blend of different martial arts styles, their training is very effective; a couple times each year they would have a guest ninjitsu grand-master come in from out of town to do seminars. I don't know if they still do this, but I'd encourage anyone to attend the seminars if they get the chance. I can't say enough good things about this school. If you're even thinking about putting yourself or someone else through martial arts training, I would encourage you to consider Master Gee's first.

Incredibly predatory business model. I went in high school grade 8 and remember being forced to…read morepurchase sparring gear in order to continue my training, which I signed a 2 year contract for. When I refused to and wanted to quit I had to pay a 2000$ severance fee. Fast forward to grade 11, I was overweight so I went back and did the free trial just for cardio purposes. I told myself I wouldn't sign a contract again, so when I was presented with the usual contract I told them I would think about it. When my trial almost expired Master Gee came over and told me I needed to purchase gear again. I remember vividly to this day, that when I told him I wasn't going to continue, he had the nastiest grin on his face when he said "well you signed a contract didn't you?". I told him I didn't yet, his face turned blue and immediately stopped talking to me. There are numerous other issues such as hygiene and the lack of good instructors. Two very good instructors while I was there were let go in favor of his son and other inexperienced instructors taking over. Definitely looks elsewhere for recreational activities for your children. Do NOT sign any contracts and do business with this nasty man.
