*DO NOT STAY HERE! The owner is manipulating people to leave good reviews.* I choose to stay here because of good reviews but I was incredibly disappointed. I checked in to Rm 15 after a day of mountain biking exhausted at around 8pm and the temperature in the room was upwards of 85 degrees! The central AC was not working. I should have asked to change rooms then but I was tired and they had a floor AC and a window unit so I turned both of those on in good faith. Sadly, the floor unit sounded like it was struggling and though they helped some, I fell asleep exhausted, and when I woke a couple hours later the room was still not cool. Another issue is one of the blinds was missing the adjustment rod so it would not shut and that let in a lot of light from the street. A lot. The mini fridge was not on either when I got in the room. Not a huge deal but for a $200+ room it would be nice to have a cold fridge with a water in it or to put my water in to keep cool. The WiFi was also terrible. It didn't show up initially and then went in and out a few times while I was using it. On top of these issues the room is very outdated, the sheets were starchy, and the hallways smell musty. The "free breakfast" doesn't start until 8am (this was a weekday and I was up at 7am hungry!) and is surprisingly sub par for what you pay for a room. It is Motel 6 quality. I've had much better at chain motels. These are issues I would expect from a cheap hotel not a 3 star inn/resort (they charge a $20 resort fee - for what I don't know because there are no amenities). My biggest issue was if they are putting someone in a room they should make sure the temp working and comfortable! I really wanted to like this place and don't usually leave reviews like this but this was too much. I shared these concerns with the staff in the morning and posted this review later that day. Two days later the owner called me and offered to refund me and comp me a free night IF I take my review down. I said I couldn't do that but may be able to edit it. He said he would refund me if I gave them at least a 4 star review. I thought about it and contacted him back to let him know that I am declining and just want them to do what is right and fix the issues. The owner then texted me and said "because of your review, you have my staff in tears. You hurt everyone. Is that really the way we're supposed to treat one another especially after the hell we have been through with Covid and the recession and my staff barely getting by. You have to do what feel is correct but a one star that was pretty excessive." Yikes.

We will definitely be coming back. This place is a gem with its historical charm and prime location. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Pros: Very Cute Historic Friendly Service Clean Cute cottages (feels magical) Plenty of Parking Very accommodating. LOVE the bathtubs (big reason why I booked here). Dog & kid friendly place. Location Comfortable beds Cons: 1) WIFI is extremely bad. I couldn't even use it. If you want to work from home you won't be able to do it here. I go to a lot of small towns because my husband and I like the rustic getaways and this was by far the worst service we have ever had. Sometimes wifi is needed to look up stuff and places to go so this was frustrating. 2) I love the bathtubs but you don't get much hot water. Not enough to fill the tubs. The bathtub is one of the main reasons of what I come for because I don't have one at my home. Bathtubs are something I enjoy when I travel. Overall, we love this spot. It's so cute and charming. We will definitely be back to this place. I love having my own little cottage. We stayed in Cottage #37.

We stayed here for a nearby wedding. The pictures online don't exactly match how run down the rooms actually are. The property itself is cute and peaceful. The parking lot shares space with a 7/11 which is convenient and the lady at the front desk was sweet but those were the only positives. We had a cottage room. The chairs outside were not cleaned off and filled with puddles of water and leaves and the porch was dirty. The room smelled musty and a bit like cat pee. The carpet was stained and around the edges was lined with dust you can tell hasn't been vacuumed in a long time. The socket covers were falling off. The windows only had blinds, no curtains so we were up with the very bright sun at 6:15 every morning. The closet they provide is essentially a small short cabinet. The remote was melted and buttons were missing from the ac unit. Bed felt ok but not the most comfortable. The bathroom was decent however you would think with the massive tub they would keep it clean and in working order as a perk they provide. There were tub stains, and the jets have not been cleaned in I don't know how long. Our key cards also stopped working three times in two days and we kept them nowhere near our phones and had to keep walking to the front office to be let in. The rooms don't have phones so if you need anything you have to walk to the front desk and they provide only 2 body towels in the room so we had to go ask for more of those as well. The WiFi was another issue. It hardly worked and we kept getting booted off it. Which is tough when you're somewhere with less cell service. Overall We regret not spending a bit more to stay around the corner at the resort. This place would be much nicer if they put a little bit into fixing it up. It's very outdated and I doubt fully up to code. We wouldn't come back here again sadly.

What a hidden gem for happy hour in Lake Arrowhead. The bar/restaurant is located in a historic Inn with vintage decor. We didn't stay the night but the friendly lady at the front desk gave us a tour of a few vacant rooms. They were each a bit different in their layout, all with an original theme/decor that felt historic yet modern. The bar was fantastic, awesome food at great prices with super friendly staff. The chicken pot pie and wedge salad are not to be missed. I will always hit this place up for happy hour when in Lake Arrowhead!!

We just returned from spending 3 nights here. It was very charming and rustic. Everyone working there was very nice, helpful and accommodating. Karen at the front desk is gem!! Thanks for the great conversations and hanging out Karen! The king bed was comfortable. If you're expecting a huge room at the Four Seasons then this is not for you! It's small and could perhaps use another table/shelf for storing belongings in the living area and in the bathroom. The tub is a huge jetted spa tub which was awesome to soak in after freezing outside for a few hours but it is awkward getting in and out as the tiles around it are freezing cold so you don't want any part of you touching it and our room had a front window that was east facing so we got the bright light coming thru way too early so that window could definitely use dark blinds/curtains. It's in a great location and walking distance to the village which is great because wknds/holidays it's hard to find a parking spot there. So just have a nice walk to the village, do some shopping and have lunch!

I stayed at the Saddleback Inn this past weekend with my sister who was visiting from Washington and my best friends. We each rented a little cabin #34 and #37. We were so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the cabins were. When we arrived to check in we were welcomed by Karen at the front desk. She was so kind and greeted us with a wonderful smile. The room was perfect and the bed was so comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant in the main house and it was exceptional!! Also the continental breakfast was all we needed before heading home. Every one of the staff members were awesome. We will definitely be back. Thank you everyone at Saddleback for making our stay perfect Sincerely Paula and Steph

Ask the Community - Saddleback Inn

Is there a complimentary breakfast? I've read a couple of reviews online about this.

We stayed in September 2023 there was a complimentary continental breakfast available with fruit, bagels, pastries, coffee, juice, and a number of other selections.

Does the walk from here to the village seem safe? Or does it guide you through a desolate and somber area which you wouldn't want to take once the sun goes down?

Nope you're fine to walk. In fact there's many kids families and dogs walking

Pet friendly? Looking to bring my dogs along

Yes! We brought our dog no problems. I think that maybe not all of the rooms are designated as "pet friendly" so check when you make your reservation.

PRC is a cluster of themed cabins on beautiful grounds. There's a man-made creek that runs through the property that I'm guessing runs even during the summer months. The tranquil sound of water fills the area, as does the sweet sound of frogs at night. The grounds are beautiful and make for a lovely evening walk or morning cup of coffee by the koi pond. I will definitely be back to sample the different cabins. Oh, absolutely top notch customer service too from the second we stepped into the main lobby to check in.

They also have a really nice event / wedding venue on the property. We stayed in the Little House on the Pond cabin which shared a small man-made pond with 3 other cabins. (Side note: Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins isn't in Lake Arrowhead proper but about a 20 minute drive east on the 189 in the small township of Twin Peaks - which is a nice mountain town but it's a bit of a drive away from Lake Arrowhead) These cabins are really cute. They are rustic yet comfortable - the sofa & chairs are comfy but I wish the sofa was deeper. There are 2 full size beds in the 2 upstairs bedrooms and the beds are super comfy! The one we slept in had a down mattress pad which really upped the comfort. There was also a nice comforter. On the downside, I am tall and I barely fit lengthwise. My feet were on the bottom rail and my head was up against the headboard. Ample parking: our cabin had its own small driveway to park in. The party lights on the deck were really nice for sitting outside on the Adirondack chairs at night. It was also really nice to build a fire in the fireplace on a crisp night. We had a lantern with a dead battery and the maintenance guy came very fast to replace it. There are lots of dishes and cookware to make snacks & meals and they have lots of things you can check out from the office like smore sticks, french presses, orange juicer, veggie steamer, charcoal BBQ, chop sticks and much, much more. On the downside: One of the big reasons we got this cabin was to have a fireplace...and they charge you $10 for a bundle of wood, which is annoying considering how much we paid to stay here (including an $80 resort fee - that doesn't include a bundle of firewood!!?) Tip: We picked up a fire bundle at Grocery Outlet for $6 that was significantly bigger than the one they had sitting by our fireplace for sale. The other big reason we got this particular cabin (Little House on the Pond) was for the big claw tub and it was very disappointing! First of all, you want a claw tub so you can relax & soak in a deep tub, and this tub is not deep enough to stay submerged. When I filled it up and got in, the water drained out the overflow drain until the water that remained in the tub left me half out of the water. You really want to soak in these things and you better do it quick here! (Note: We mentioned this when we checked out and he said they would look into getting a water level extender to put over the drain or something) Also, their hot water heater isn't big enough to last till this tub is full enough to get in. It ran cold after a while and I had to stop filling and let the hot water build back up and do that a few times to have a reasonably warm full bath. The stairs in this cabin are a neck breaker (very steep), almost like a ladder. The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. This could potentially be dangerous going to the bathroom in the middle of the night (or for anyone who has a challenge walking). They should at least put in some nightlights on the stairs so you can see them when it is dark. On the admin side, you have to wash all your dishes and take out your own garbage or be charged a $60 fee. I have never (even at lower priced hotels) been told to wash my own dishes and take out my garbage. I kinda get it if you have a big family with 8 or 10 people - I'm sure they've had lots of people leave it a total mess, but for 2 of us it was a bit annoying to pay what we did and have to clean up everything. I mean part of being on vacation is to have people wait on you and not have to worry about these things - especially for what I paid to stay here. Another thing, when we checked in we asked for pool towels and she got us a few but told us in the future we needed to bring our own pool towels...Then what are we paying such a high resort fee for!!? After all is said and done I am giving Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins 4 stars. Again, this place is cute, nice and very comfortable but with all the dings mentioned above, I can't give it 5 stars.

Since our room wasn't ready yet, they gave us beach access cards while we waited, which we really appreciated. We ended up walking to the village for breakfast (about a 6 minute walk) and did the boat tour while waiting. Around 12 PM, we received both a text and a call that our room was ready. The room was clean and the lake view was absolutely beautiful. The kids loved the pool, and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. We also went down to the lake to catch the sunset, which was definitely a highlight even though the water was freezing. They had movie night and game room as well. The only downside was the TV in our room. It was pretty outdated, static at times, and we wished it had Netflix or streaming options where we could log into our own accounts. The hot tub could've also been cleaner. Overall, it was still such a relaxing getaway and a perfect Mother's Day trip for the family. We'll definitely be back again!

Upon arrival, Lia at the front desk was welcoming and courteous. She asked if we needed two room keys; although we mentioned that one would be enough, she still provided us with two. The room itself was decent. however, we encountered a few issues. The balcony door could not be locked which was concerning. While I was working on my laptop at the table, I began to feel intense itchiness on both of my legs. I tried using wet paper towels to relieve it but it was with so much discomfort so I eventually had to stop and walked away. At around 6 PM, my wife and I went to use the hot tub which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Unfortunately, the water temperature was warm, or maybe less than warm. So much so that most guests could not stay longer than 15 minutes. We did stay for a good 30minutes. Another guest even asked his wife to report it to the front desk. When she came back, she said that the issue had already been reported earlier but it appeared that no action had been taken. The chlorine level seemed extremely strong. The following day which is today, after doing laundry, my wife pointed out that the underwear I wore in the hot tub had changed color, from black to brown. compared to my underwear. Along with that, I've been experiencing ongoing itchiness, irritation and dryness on my legs and other parts of my body since using the hot tub.

Now, I don't go…read morethere for wedding festivities, therefore, can't review on that, but I do go to enjoy a couple of days of relaxation. Since I've now visited this place often, I can totally say that unfortunately nothing much has changed. The rooms are not updated the way they should be, get rid of the dirty carpet already I would say. The bathrooms need a lot more updating than placing a new shower head and think that will do the trick. Doesn't work that way. The sink still has a huge crack in it as far as 3yrs ago. Attention to details is not the owner's forte at all and it's now pretty obvious that it will remain so. Flowers outside the entrance should be real, again, 3yrs and they still have the fake flowers in their pots, fake flowers, even fake flowers need changing after a while especially when the sun is strong in the summertime, fake flowers will fade the colors away. Just buy some inexpensive REAL flowers already, it can't be that hard to water them and would make the entrance look much nicer. Still having those annoying barking dogs come right up to you, totally wrong to say the least. The whole place, the front desk especially does not look clean at all, and the fact that they serve breakfast which by the way I assume they have a permit to do so and charge you the same amount of money that other restaurants around the area do, is absolutely ridiculous to say the least. Who's even cooking it for you? Regardless, they shouldn't charge you so much. What's totally wrong as well, is when you stay here, the owner or whomever is helping at the time, they use the kitchen to make themselves breakfast, the smell of it goes right up to your room as early as 6am, and it wakes you up. I understand they need to eat but you have guests staying here and I am almost sure that no one wants to smell bacon and eggs as early as 6am, especially when it's not even a weekend when that is the ONLY time they offer breakfast. Totally uncalled for. The other bad experience this time, it was quite cold, so we went to our room sooner than we normally would have wanted to, but there is a TV so we just wanted to relax and watch a movie, the TV wasn't coming on, it took and no kidding here 2 hours before the TV started working, there was no signal for 2 hours, 10pm no one is at the front desk any longer so we couldn't get help and I wasn't going to bother even if I could have since the TV should work properly. We also wanted some tea before bedtime, I couldn't believe how dirty the coffee machine was, just disgusting to say the least, so we didn't get any tea as I was not in the mood to clean up for the owner who should take the time to look at everything around this very small area, and make sure everything is clean for her guests, it's not a huge area at all and everything is at a very minimum space, two steps from the front desk is where they finally by the way, after years, have a coffee machine, yet, it's too much to keep it clean and neat. Other places around the area, offer continental breakfast daily, some offer some sort of muffins, this place only offers coffee/tea unless you stay in the weekend when they rip you off charging you prices like a real restaurant, and after all it looks and feels of total lack of caring, and no attention to details at all. The owner got lucky to have this property and it's sad to see how very little enthusiasm she cares to put into it. You don't need much to show that you care and want to make the place look presentable, nice and clean. As far as I now can see having visited often, it's so obvious that the owner only cares to make money, raises the prices as most do I get it, but other than that can't care less about how the place is kept. Even the outside where you can sit and look at the beautiful views, totally dirty both on the floors and some of the chairs they have outside for you to sit on, just carelessness is all I can keep stating. I recall staying here in one summer, 2yrs ago to be exact, she had a temp helping while she was on vacation. It was a nightmare, and I am sure the owner knows nothing about it. Let's just say that the temp was mostly upstairs with her boyfriend then downstairs, the bell on the desk, well, it was used quite often if you ever needed anything at all. I'll leave it at that. There was much more and all unpleasant. But the owner needed the vacation. This place has a lot of potentials; it is an old house turned Hotel but it could be spectacular if the owner would really try to put more effort into and turn it into what it could be. Of course, if you are not happy, go elsewhere I'm sure is the attitude. The views are spectacular for sure; however, they are not the Lake Views, they are the city view's, therefore, if you want the Lake View since you are at Lake Arrowhead after all, that's not what you'll get, nevertheless, they are beautiful.

Sitting on the rim, weather can be tricky, but The Skyview also offers an indoor space if the weather turns. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and truly the perfect day!

This was our first trip to Lake Arrowhead and I'm so glad this is where we chose to stay! Peaceful elegance & luxury are words that come to mind as I think about our experience here. The staff is super friendly & helpful - I'm nodding specifically at Helecia who went the extra mile in helping me book this room, and Rona who is the General Manager and truly loves people (you can feel it as you talk to her). They both also have incredible pride in their beautiful hotel (as do all the other employees we interacted with - and that pride is definitely justified!) Both of these ladies contributed to our wonderful experience here - THANK YOU! We stayed in room 17 which had a fireplace, a bedroom and a loft. It was a bit of a walk up the hill but was secluded and we really loved it. There are so many activities they offer here (that we didn't have time to do) - tennis, pickleball, ping pong and so much more. We did however take a hike on the back of their property on the nice trails they have. Another highlight is the indoor jacuzzi with a fireplace, which made it super cozy on a cold night. We absolutely love this place and will definitely be back.

I would absolutely recommend staying here, cozy and quaint within walking distance to the village, our room was called Love Letter and had a gorgeous view of the lake, total of 9 rooms with ample parking gives you a feeling of staying at home rather than a hotel or Inn. Gail the manager, who has been there for only three months, was very nice and friendly and accepted us like family, they have their lobby filled with all sorts of snacks, coffee, tea, assorted fruits, fresh and delicious apples from the trees, chips, cereal and more, all open to the guests 24/7, she had even made homemade acorns with chocolate kiss on top, were delicious, all in all a great getaway, for sure a gem to be discovered.

The whole experience was great. Booking was super easy, pricing for the area was quite reasonable and then the actual space was super cute and fun. We stayed in the "Love Letter" room which had a fantastic view of the lake. The style was, as noted by previous reviewers, Victorian and beautifully done. We were greeted by Chris and given a tour of the spaces available to us which included a kitchenette stocked with snacks and goodies (midnight cereal, YES!), a wide selection of DVDs and board games. The room had a little fireplace, lounge room, large bathroom (no bathtub) and a super cozy bed. The ONLY thing that was less than perfect as that the blanket was a tiny stuffy smelling. We very much enjoyed this B&B. Be sure to check out the Belgian Waffle and the Village just across the way.

If you're looking here you're probably wondering if Yaamava played a tricked on you?…read more I'm here to tell you they did. This isn't one of those pleasant jokes, like a gift card that says $10 and really has a $100 loaded on it. You've been pranked. Epic T.V. Show, hidden cameras, scripted level prank. Now to be fair it's not a bad place to stay. The rooms are well furnished the iPads are helpful, the gym is well equipped, they have pictures of the restaurant in the lobby, but I haven't eaten there so I won't comment on that. But that's not to say I don't think I should be given a credit to eat there. With my previous few experiences here I think a free dinner or breakfast is the LEAST they could do to make up for how I was treated. Let's start with the "courtesy call" I made the reservation through the Yaamava VIP host, they took my card info and made the reservation. I made it for the next day and told them I would be around because I had a funeral to attend to. That I would be by to check in after the funeral. So they called me... DURING THEN FUNERAL, that's not what I call a courtesy, it was inhumane. But the manager on duty Ms. Summer put the blame on Yaamava, so we both lamented Yaamava's unprofessionalism. The coup de grâce which really irks me is the deposit policy. Check in isn't until 4pm. Standard, no problem with that. But if you don't check in by 6pm they charge your credit card the full amount of the room. UNACCEPTABLE!!! You have two hours to check in or they charge you an outrageous price? Two hours? Get this if they charge you this ridiculous unexpected rate and your card doesn't go through, they give away your room. What kind of threat is that? Where does it make sense and in whose mind is this policy okay in? The general manager Jason called the next day and acted like this policy was completely normal. You can tell when you're talking to someone who has been trained to gaslight, It's not a normal policy it's crazy. In summary I like staying at Bear Springs, it's not Yaamava not anywhere even close to the same level of luxury but it's still cool. But I hate the deposit policy. The charge stays on your card for weeks. It's like an interest free loan they take EVERY time. It really sucks as far as unnecessary payments go, because they charge you another deposit on top of that when you arrive. It's an utter failure as far as policies go. So just be aware even though you got comped a stay you'll most likely be ripped off the entire amount for a good portion of time. Plus a deposit. Whoever came up with this policy should be scalped a square inch on both temples. Two days later and neither of the charges or deposits or whatever they called these cash grabs have been returned. Have fun coming here, be prepared for their failure of a completely unnecessary and superfluous policy to jack you for a few hundred. But hearing them bad mouth their partner Yaamava is slightly amusing. Overall verdict, this place seems like a strong maybe. Think carefully before staying.

We had an extremely disturbing experience at this hotel…read more After staying two nights, we discovered a large bed bug in our room (photo attached). This was not a tiny insect that just arrived. It was a fully grown bed bug, which strongly suggests an established infestation. What made the situation worse was how it was handled. When we reported it to management, the owner/office manager immediately tried to accuse us of bringing them, stating things like "they don't get there by themselves" and referencing his age and personal history instead of addressing the actual issue. This was incredibly unprofessional and dismissive. For context, I am 8 months pregnant, and we were visiting my husband's hometown. The last thing anyone in that situation should have to deal with is arguing with a hotel about basic cleanliness and safety. Eventually we were given a refund, but only after an uncomfortable interaction where responsibility was deflected rather than taken seriously. Bed bugs are a serious issue that require immediate and professional treatment. Instead of blaming guests, the priority should be properly inspecting and cleaning rooms to ensure no one else goes through this. Travelers should be aware and check their rooms carefully.
