Sadaharu Aoki is a Japanese pastry chef who infuses Japanese flavors into traditional French sweets. I was soooooo excited to find his outpost inside the Galeries Lafayette Gourmet floor. I came here twice. The first time I got 6 macarons: 2 yuzu, 1 genmaicha, 1 matcha, 1 hojicha, and 1 wasabi. The matcha was my favorite, smooth and delicious. The wasabi was weird. As you can see from my photos, I took tons of pictures of the case, with chocolates, cookies, desserts, and other treats all with Japanese influence. The second time I came back, I got a green tea eclair and a yuzu tarte. They were both incredible. I highly recommend the green tea eclair. There are other flavors of items i did not try, like black sesame. This is a great stop for Japanese flavor lovers and sweet lovers alike. Also, everything is so beautiful!

When I first tasted Aoki Sadaharu pastries, while visiting Tokyo a few months back, I thought they were good, but I was far less impressed with them than with some of the other pastries I tried during my trip (such as from Pierre Hermé). Now that I've given them another try, I have been converted to a fan. Very tasty, and some of the most beautiful pastries anywhere. You'll never find that the staff has manhandled your pastries while randomly plopping them together in a box here (yes, that does happen even in Paris at some other places). The chef and staff are fanatically attentive to detail - and that's a very good thing in a pastry shop!

I've been dying to try this place for a year now! I was so excited to have finally come here, that I didn't even have enough time to go shopping. There macarons are 4 stars. I think Laduree has a better consistency and texture for the outer shell. However, Sadaharu Aoki has more flavors that I enjoy (e.g. matcha, genmatcha, earl grey, yuzu, black sesame). The yuzu macaron was my favorite. I also ordered the Matcha cake, Yuzu tart, and Matcha & Azuki pudding. The matcha cake did not have a lot of matcha flavor, but I think there was a layer of chocolate and hazelnut. Although I was disappointed by the lack of matcha flavor, this cake was actually really delicious. Imagine Ferrero chocolate in a cake form, but multiply that by 10. The Yuzu tart was AMAZING. It was VERY sour, but the flavor and texture were both really yummy. The matcha pudding is also highly recommended. The matcha taste is very strong and the pudding had a good consistency. I was lucky and bought the last one! Overall, highly recommended if you enjoy Japanese/French desserts. It is a bit pricey, but it's probably a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Mille fille and some matcha treat

We went here twice during our stay in Paris because the desserts are that good. Who can resist a Japanese spin on French pastries? Match and butter are meant to be together. I do not remember the names of the treats I chose but you cannot go wrong with any of their buche noels. I had a layered matcha one that was incredibly light and flavorful. The Mille fille was also excellent with a Japenese spin and a bit of crunch. The desserts are expensive but so artfully done. Well worth it.

Found this place while walking around in Galeries Lafayette food hall. French pastries with Japanese inspired flavors! I'm a fan of Matcha so I ordered the Matcha Azuki cake with a macaroon on top. Each layer gave you a different texture and it was so flavorful. One would never satisfy my sweet tooth so I got another one with raspberry flavor which I really enjoyed it as well. I'll definitely go back next time for their macaroons. They have earl gray and sesame flavor so I must try.

So many options, so hard to decide! I came here after seeing a picture of a matcha eclair and ordered that with one of their most ordered matcha cake. The matcha eclair was exactly what I wanted but the cake was expensively disappointing. It was extremely sweet and I did not taste any matcha.

Very tasty desserts!! It is owned by Japanese pastry chef. The dessert looked and tasted just like its other store in shinjuku but the packaging wasn't. Ice packs were not offered as its quite warm outside. The dessert wasn't separated by card board paper but luckily did not squash when we bring back to hotel) However still rated 5 stars :)

Matcha puff and sesame noir eclair. Must get the eclair!!!

Located in the Galleries Lafayette is one of places to get macarons. My first time experiencing Sadaharu Aoki's amazing treats was in Tokyo. I fell in love with their macaron flavors because they cater to the Asian palate. This place does not disappoint. There are items here that they do not have in Tokyo. Their sesame noir macaron was still amazing. Tried two new items, the matcha puff and the sesame noir eclair. Both were delicious but if I had to pick one the eclair blew me away. The matcha puff had this delicious matcha cream but it was a little too sweet. Great matcha flavor to the cream. The eclair was nothing I have had before. The sesame flavor is pronounced but if you love black sesame you have to try this pastry. Maybe next time I came try a few more items. Definitely worth dropping by to try some of the pastries.

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

It really tastes like melted chocolate with a bit of milk mixed in to make it more drinkable. We went at a bit of an off time, late morning and it wasn't overly busy. We saw our server once and I couldn't recall who he was when it came time to get the bill. I asked a hostess walking by for our check and she told me to ask our server while walking away. We were able to flag another server down eventually but the whole process just took too long. The tables for four have chairs that don't quite tuck in causing for a bit awkward seating. If you like really thick hot chocolate, give it a try but otherwise ok to miss this one. Plenty of good hot chocolate throughout the city.

I had a mimosa also which was 20 euros (too much). There is a long wait for a table at Carette as it's become very popular thanks to Tik Tok and IG. We stood in light for about 30 minutes. The staff does a great job of keeping things moving as quickly as possible, but they can only do so much as people are relaxed while enjoying their hot chocolate and treats. We noticed several tables around us getting strawberries and cream which looked amanzing but the price of this was not listed anywhere in the menu so we opted to not be sticker shocked any further (a-hem 20 euros for one glass of mimosa). Ultimately, Carette offers delicious hot chocolate and it's great to say that you went there, but I can't imagine having hot chocolate in 90 degree farenheit weather outside, after standing in line for 30 minutes, but do you boo! When in Paris...

Upon entering the bakery, I was greeted by the aroma of butter and the sight of neat rows of fresh pastries. I really wanted to try one of everything, but I was determined to try the pain au chocolat, a personal favorite. Le Grenier a Pain's pain au chocolat was much larger and heartier than others I've tried yet retained its buttery-flakiness without feeling too heavy. I really enjoyed the pillowy texture of the pain au chocolat, which included a generous amount of chocolate folded inside. Paired with a cafe au lait, I was in heaven. The bakery is small yet inviting, and there was no seating indoors or outdoors. While I was hoping to enjoy my pastry on-the-go, it started pouring outside, so I was forced to huddle underneath the awning while I consumed my pain au chocolat. While I'd definitley come back for another pain au chocolat, I would also want to sample their savory pastries on my next visit.
