Her studio is like a small gem in thag area. She has the energy that makes you want to never leave the class. She is so positive, peaceful and energizing and as a student that is the processing of healing which I really needed. My mother and I are going to be regular now. And i cannot wait for our session!!!!

As it is advertised entirely by word-of-mouth, it remains one of Jackson Heights' best kept secrets! With true yoga sensibility, she is quiet about her work. When you take this class, your body and mind are better prepared for the week to come. This class happens next door to "Mimi for Me Yoga", but is not a part of it. So, when you get to the top of the stairs, TURN RIGHT (not left). The cost is $15 for the 2-hour class, and Sandhya can be contacted at: sandhya.kaurwar@gmail.com. she likes to know how many people to expect. Beyond this mat yoga, Sandhya also teaches "chair yoga" for senior citizens, at many local retirement facilities, and travels throughout the area. But, this is her ONLY class in Jackson Heights. I recommend you check it out!

I have been coming to USA Devanand Yoga Center for over 5 years and became a member 3 years ago. As…read morea newbie, I immediately experienced a sense of tranquility when I went to the Sunday Love offerings; a wholesome goodness from the very welcoming and friendly members; and I was so impressed that not only did Latin vegan food exist, but it was, as J.J. Evans would have said: dy-no-mite! So, if you're not ready to become a member, you'll feel a warm welcome when you attend the jaw droppingly low-cost hatha yoga classes; the Love Offerings, which include meditations and talks; the fun dances, artistic events, and workshops; and the delicious Sunday lunches (entree, juice, and dessert). If you're looking for a more immersive and spiritual experience, I can attest that becoming a member (receiving my mantra) has made a significant and transformational difference in all aspects of my life. For those of you with practical concerns: my elderly relative (83) recently joined and told me that it has helped with her insomnia, too. (This place is for young and old; children meditate and there are hatha yoga classes for kids on Sundays, too.) So whether you're looking for a positive environment where you can exercise, have some good food, and/or join a discussion about spirituality (sessions are usually in Spanish with English translation in person or via headset) or you're looking for something deeper and more sustainable, I believe this might just be the place for you. Pass it on! ; )

The space itself offers a calming atmosphere, mindfully decorated with Buddha statues with pleasant aromas and complimentary tea. The studio itself is spacious and welcoming with a large bathroom, plenty of room to hang coats and store shoes and multiple workout rooms. I took a morning Sculpt and Tone class which was full but not overly packed. The pace of the class was well timed with spurts of work followed by enough breaks to recharge and start the next section of class. The class was a mix of lightweight training and Pilates movements that worked every part of my body. I walked out of class feeling accomplished and ready to take on the day. Classes here are pricey, but worth the investment in my opinion if you're planning to come here on a regular basis. After purchasing one drop in class I received a gift certificate for $30 which will cover another (not sure how long this promo will last) so it's like getting two classes for the price of one!

I prefer specific instructors.

The class was 75 minutes long, which as someone who only does yoga a few times a month, I thought the lengthy class might be agonizing. But to my pleasant surprise, it wasn't!! There was the right amount of switching between different areas of the body to focus on that I didn't get too fatigued or bored. I don't remember the instructors name, but I liked him and how he led us in our yoga practice. Also, he came over to help physically adjust me while doing one of the poses. I'm totally fine with this (I actually prefer it), but I do want to point out that he didn't ask permission ahead of time. Again, not at all an issue for me! But if you're someone who doesn't like being adjusted by yoga instructors, you might want to bring that up privately before class starts. I will definitely be back!!! Tip: the yoga studio is on the second floor. The door is actually located on 33rd street. Find it then press the button and they'll unlock the door for you.

Classes are offered frequently throughout the day, so no matter your schedule there's a class you can make. I especially enjoyed taking their basics class, offered at 3:30 pm on Sundays. It's an hour long class that focuses on the foundational yoga movements and poses. It's well suited for beginners but still a challenging class, and especially great if your body is sore and in need of a solid stretch. Mats are offered here free of charge which is also a plus, and they have ample blocks and yoga props for use as well. The studio is well-lit and calming, however, the space does get packed, so if you want a good spot I'd recommend coming here early to set up.
