Orr hot springs is not that, but it doesn't claim to be. The good: - It really does have unique historic, rustic, nature, hippy charm. -The tubs are pretty cool and not something I've seen in a lot of other hot spring resorts. Nice to have some alone time. - It is unique, and that's why I gave it four stars rather than two. -The communal kitchen and lobby are great and I love the seeing all the great food people are cooking! -They have wagons you can put your stuff in to carry from the car to the campgrounds. This is much nicer than carrying by hand. Great addition. The bad: -The sauna's need to be significantly improved. They're super small, and if someone opens the door it can take minutes to-reheat. It was cold after two people came in. -There are rules/signs everywhere! It felt like every five feet there was another sign saying what to do. It feels like the whole system relys on each person doing things exactly right when it could just "work". For example, there's a gate that goes to the campgrounds right next to a tent site. They tell people to close it silently. If the gate was better designed or there was no gate, the guests wouldn't have to worry about closing it silently. Now multiple that sign/placard by 50x. There's a lot of signs and rules. If you go to a place like Harbin, you don't have to worry about rules everywhere, the design of the facility "just works" -It didn't feel as clean as other resorts I've been to. -To place a reservation over the phone, you have to call, and they call you back. I don't know why think guests want this experience instead of picking up the phone. This is hard especially if you're in a place like Mendocino going in and out of reception and you have no idea when they'll call you back to just to place a reservation. Overall: Not a fancy hotel, a unique experience and worth a visit if you happen to be in area.

She was the first therapist who told me that my left trap was tighter than my right and to sleep more on my right side, and paid so much attention to all the places I needed extra care instead of just doing the regular fare. I felt like I was in such good hands, and she gave me a hug right after Truly a transcendental experience, and I'm so sad I don't live closer so I'd be able to go every month. We stayed in one of the soaking rooms and it was wonderful. We were provided with towels and salts to use specifically for the soaking tub. The tub was conveniently located in the main room with a view of the large screen TV which also could be pulled out from the wall and angled towards the tub and bed. We were a little confused about how the tv worked since it seemed that other guests were signed in to the streaming platforms, but that was likely user error. Perhaps a little note about logging in to streaming services next to the TV might be useful for others in the future. We were also able to access live channels. The room was clean, and had a microwave and mini fridge for our leftovers after eating out or for small grocery items from CalMart. The location is great and a short walk to downtown Calistoga. We were provided with robes at check in which were useful for the hot tubs and pools. There are two mineral water hot tubs of different temperatures and one large mineral pool for swimming. There are showers and changing rooms available in the pool area as well. They provided bicycles and helmets that we could take to ride during the desk hours. We would definitely stay here again.

There is one adult pool, nextdoor. I would have loved to give this spa 5 stars, but the steam room was under construction and there isn't an entry from the spa to the pool area. The pools are in the center of the hotel property. Also disappointed that the spa robes don't have pockets.
