Marblehead Antiques is so much bigger than it looks and encompasses two giant rooms which are separated by an entryway. I love to seek out antique shops and sometimes they are a big hit-or-miss. This one is a giant HIT! The owner is very interesting and has a story for almost everything. The items are a mix of high-end and low-end with treasures from around the world. This is the type of place where you should really plan to stay a while, carefully sift through all the items and find some special items. If I were local to this area, I could easily purchase so many home decor items in the nautical theme, or good-bones-furniture in need of a little tender loving care. I was told I was in customers' way in an empty store, I was questioned as to what I was looking at, and I was generally discouraged from continuing my shopping. I believe that, given the cost of antiques from the 19th century, looking twice or three times at an item before choosing to buy it is normal. I also believe that I am unlikely to buy anything like that from this particular shop. It is not a good environment from which to bring home meaningful, memorable additions to my living space.
