THIEVES work here. Sunday 3/24/24 at 2:45pm cashier named Maria charged me $143.00 for my half order of carne asada fries. I got my refund, but now I have to wait who knows how many business days to get my money. A simple $14.00 order turned into a $143 order. I was going to pay my phone bill today, but now I have to wait for the refund to hit my account. To top it off, she got mad because I accused her of stealing. Sabrosada will always have a special place in my heart. It has been and hopefully will always be my go-to place when I have no idea what to eat. I have tried many different items on the menu over the years and I have narrowed it down to 2 must-try: carne asada burrito and carne asada fries. The carne asada burrito comes packed carne asada, pico de gallo, and guac. They don't skimp out on the meat and there is no filler like rice or beans, making the burrito pretty worth it. The carne asada fries come with fries, cheese, pico de gallo, guac, sour cream and beans. I usually order the full large order and share it with 1-2 other people. The half order is also massive. I have tried many carne asada fries in the area and nothing can beat the carne asada fries here. The mix of flavors are perfect, meat is tender, and cheese is perfectly melted. They usually give you green and red sauce and I usually put the red sauce on my food for a tiny bit of a kick. The service here is bad to mediocre; can be friendly on some days and indifferent on other days. There is also a drive-thru, which can get busy during lunch/dinner hours but I'm usually in and out in 10-15 minutes. Overall, this is my go-to place when I am craving a burrito or carne asada fries. The 2 following incidents happened awhile back but they still annoy me until this day so I am writing a review. I am a pescetarian but sometimes I do crave for carne asada fries, so I have learned to ask for the meat on the side if I am sharing the fries with someone. During the first incident, I asked just for that but instead got the meat all over fries. I asked the workers to remake it and the lady who helped me gave me a hard time. When it was remade they left out the cheese so I asked for it. The same lady had the audacity to tell me they don't have cheese even though I saw cheese on the first order they messed up on. What kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't have cheese? I went back inside and asked for a manager and told the manager what happened and that I was being lied to. The manager gave me the cheese while the other lady just quietly stared me down. Strike one. On the second incident, I ordered the same thing with meat on the side through the drive thru. Once again my fries came with meat all over it and a side of beans. There was miscommunication and the lady who took my order thought I asked for a side of beans. That's fine, miscommunication can happen when they have an out-of-date drive-thru system. I was cautious that something like this would happen again so when it did, I purposely chose my words carefully and even started my sentence with, "I'm sorry to bother you, but I asked for meat on the side... could you remake this?" The lady was livid that I asked to have my food remade. After she tried to argue with me, she closed the window and I watched her raise her voice with the kitchen staff. She was so upset she had to step outside and some guy came out from the kitchen to give me the food. He watched me check it and the meat was on the side so I said thank you and left. Strike 2. BUTTTTTTTT it doesn't end there. I drove 5 minutes down the street to meet up with my friends to share the fries and I was absolutely disgusted when I realized the workers went as far as giving me COLD ASS STALE FRIES. I've had their fries a number of times so I know it isn't supposed to taste like that. If I wasn't with my friends at a new location I would have gone back to the restaurant and confront them. This is just unacceptable and if that is how these workers deal with customer issues they really shouldn't be working in the food business. I pledge to never, ever come back to this location and I hope the manager sees this review. No way am I giving them a chance for a third strike. Just horrible. read more

Great place for drive thru Mexican fast food. I am a big fan of their burritos and asada fries. The portions are large and the food is well seasoned. This spot has quick service and a nice staff. In this uncertain and stressful period of Stay At Home, due to the Covid19 virus, having access to tasty food made well and relatively quick makes life better for sure. Worth noting about the asada, it is super tender and diced up into little niblets so no hard chewy pieces of beef. Great topper over fries with guacamole, cheese, and salsa. Highly recommend trying the asada fries... and, definitely smother it with their red hot sauce, its smoky with a little heat. We asked to use the bathroom which needs a code and as soon as I opened the door there was a nasty smell and sight. There was poop on the toilet seat and used toilet paper all over the floor. Got dinner delivered from here by Postmates after having a disappointing dinner from a restaurant in the same plaza and driving by a big drive-thru line for Sabrosada! Every now and then I find myself craving Mexican food and this place's Carne Asada Fries definitely hit the spot and it was only $7 for a "half" order of fries which can definitely fill up one hungry person or be shared with two. I appreciate them using thin cut fries since they were crispy and perfectly cooked. We also got the rolled tacos which were alright and two potato tacos that weren't that good. My go to spot in OC for carne asada nachos! For the 1/2 order you get a lot and it's enough to share with 4 people I would say. My bf and I love coming here when we have the munchies for nachos. The meat is cooked good, and I love that it comes with gauc and sour cream. I usually don't like beans, but the beans were good here and I like that they didn't put too much on it. Came here to get nachos. The drive-thru line was pretty long so went inside to grab it. The carnitas nachos were large, definitely a huge portion. The meat was very tender and juicy and quite moist. Need nachos did not disappoint. I love the guacamole as well and I recommend trying out this place for quick, great tasting, Mexican food. The inside seating area is quite small with only a handful of tables, but it was clean. I did mark it down a star, as the person working behind the counter did not seem happy to be there. I walked into order and I was not greeted, nor did they smile. He took my order and handed me my receipt and that was the end of that. The salsa bar is not open right now due to covid, but they were pretty busy so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, of just being short-staffed potentially, for the lack of customer service. I use to go here a frequently when it was Alerto's but the chain has definitely gone down. I ordered the full carne asada fries. I asked for the fries to be extra crispy and the cashier just looked at me and started punching something on the register. Then I waited for about 5 minutes and my order came out. It caught me by surprise because it would normally take longer than 5 minutes to fry up French fries. Back then, the carne asada meat was always flavorful and juicy and the cheese was perfectly melted. Today, the fries were mushy. It tasted like it has been sitting out. The carne asada was bland and the cheese were room temperature. My "red sauce" was gelatin. I won't be coming back here. It's a shame. read more

Whether they're called Alerto's or Sabrosada, they have been consistent through the years with their food. I love their breakfast burritos, Al pastor, and their tacos. The carne asada fries is also a great option. It's nothing comparable to the spoiled San Diego options I've had but it's definitely up there. The customer service is always friendly, and even though there are similar types of places around, this place opens late so it's perfect for decently priced midnight munchies. The atmosphere is kinda not an inviting place to sit down to eat, and the area surrounding follows the same suit, but it's super great for drive through or a fast pickup. Sabro "BOOM BOOM" sada! My go-to spot for some quick Mexican food. My go-to is the 3 rolled tacos with Guacamole and Cheese, order of French fries and a side of Chile guerro (grilled jalapeños). Other items that are pretty good: Fish Burrito, Carne Asada Burrito and the Carne Asada Fries. If you're not a fan of Carne Asada, they offer any of the meats in place of the carne asada. By no means is this a healthy and quality driven establishment. I would call this your late night, cheat day Mexican take out joint! read more

It didn't taste like greasy nor was it under spiced. I ordered a California burrito here, but before I left I realized there are only a few tables to sit indoors but outside there is far more. The toppings were all conveniently by the counter. The place is small but they really know how to make great use of what they have. My friend ordered tacos, they were stuffed like mini burritos! Impressive especially for being open at all hours of the night. Way better then Taco Bell or Miguel Jr.'s w a open salsa bar. I loved the flower tortillas.
