Been a long time customer at formerly Alertos and now sabrosada we still call it Alertos. Have tried many things over the years super nachos, super fries, asada burritos, tacos, carnitas and chicken tacos, chilaquiles, asada combos, breakfast burritos, etc. Portions are fairly large. They have the best nachos. The asada meat is good for the most part but there was a time several years ago that it wasn't we stopped coming for sometime because of that. Their salsa is pretty good hated that they got real cheap with it for some years. Prices have really skyrocketed items used to a third of what they cost now. Late Thursday night decided to get sabrosada and pull up on the drive thru, my go to burrito is normally the pollo asada burrito $15 with tax. Quick 10 min drive home to eat it. When I ate the pollo asada burrito, it was basically slightly warm, Flavor of pollo asada tasted bland, with a lot of super cold guacamole. I felt the guacamole was too cold, so it quickly cooled down the pollo asada meat. Unfortunately the burrito failed badly to hit the late night craving. The street tacos were ok and packed on a lot of meat per taco. We didn't like the tortillas, they felt old and not good quality. Maybe they overcooked it. The deep fried hard shell taco was good. The al pastor quesadilla was huge! But very greasy, and the cheese wasn't the best choice. It didn't feel authentic. The fried chili pepper and onions were just greasy and not seasoned. I was craving Birria tacos late in the evening, and after some searching, we found this spot because my husband was in the mood for flautas. We usually get our flautas in Garden Grove, but they close at 9 pm, so we were happy to discover this place. Although they didn't have Birria tacos, I went with quesadillas and flautas instead. My favorite Mexican fast food establishment. This location has to be the best too. The food, service, and atmosphere here is always consistent. The parking lot it's a little bit dark and hard to navigate since there some construction going on but so worth it. I typically dine in and the tables are clean spacious and spread apart. I always get a California burrito, fried chiles, side of chips, and half carne asada fries with extra crispy fries. I don't know how they do it but they make the food so fast and it's always so fresh and piping hot when I eat it. I have discovered this magical place a little too late but today is still just as good as ten years before! That said, I am a very huge fan of the establishment and have almost ordered exclusive Carne Asada Fries Half with no beans for the past decade+. Service is as quick as can be for a mix of in-dining and drive-through. The prices back then were a steal for the portions although over the years especially with the pandemic, portion size has noticeably decreased and the price is nearly twice as much. I used to recall that same order above being $7 with it now being $14 or so before tax. Understandable as inflation over the years and pandemic did not help but still as sad to me. This place used to be one of my favorite spots when it was Alertos Mexican Food. Even after it changed to Sabrosada, I continued coming here and even brought some co-workers along to share a bit of my childhood memories. The food was still good, and I appreciated that some of the flavors I remembered were still there. A couple of weeks ago, while I was in the neighborhood, I decided to stop by again to pick up lunch for myself and a couple co-workers. I ordered three burritos, a nacho, and three drinks. While waiting, I politely asked for containers for the salsa and small plastic bags for the pickled carrots and jalapeños. The young girl at the counter handed me five small 2-ounce containers, which I filled with red and green salsa. I also filled about half of a sandwich bag with the pickled carrots and jalapeños. At that moment, one of the older ladies at the counter gave me a dirty look and began scolding the young girl in Spanish, questioning why she gave me the bag. The girl replied that I had ordered three burritos and nachos. I understood most of the conversation, as I'm Vietnamese but took four years of Spanish in school. The experience made me feel very uncomfortable and disrespected. I spent over $70 on my order, and while I don't mind paying that for good food, no customer deserves to feel unwelcome. I've been coming to this location since my high school days when it was still Alertos, and now in my 40s, I'm truly disappointed to have lost a place tied to so many memories. I got a takeout order of Fish Fries instead of Carne Asada, because I was feeling adventurous. When ordering I asked for a couple of limes but unfortunately when I got home there were none . The fries were decent and the pico and the guacamole brought out vibrant flavors that pairs well with the fries. They also gave me salsa verde which made the fries have a little bit more of a kick. Unfortunately the fish itself was pretty dry and thinner than I remembered. It was hard to chew the ends because it was mainly just batter! I come here for the carne asada fries. They're on point every single time. I recommend you get the full size order. I have never ordered the half-sized one before nor do I see a point in ordering unless you really hate wasting food and you cannot eat it all. Don't assume half sized means that the price is anywhere near half sized lol. The upgrade from half to full-sized is only a dollar something extra so unless you really want to save a dollar and some change and you really cannot eat a whole order, just go with full sized. I've only tried a few other things here. The rolled tacos are pretty good and crunchy. I like the crispy beef and chicken tacos simply because I like crispy tacos. I've ordered the chilaquiles before as well. If you are expecting authentic chilaquiles then don't order it lol. But otherwise if you just want something different then what you usually eat, it's still a fair attempt at chilaquiles even though it's a "fast food" version. The service has always been pretty good. Throughout the years, the person talking at the drive-thru seems to usually be a female and they've always been courteous and friendly. Also don't mix this location up with another one that is on the same street but further south. I think I've been there once and the food experience there iirc was pretty awful and I never went there again. This is the one that you want to go to, in my humble opinion. There is one annoying thing I discovered not too long ago about this place though. They don't offer delivery of any kind. No Doordash, no Uber eats, nada. So a couple weeks ago, I had a craving so I actually had to take a Lyft here just to order what I wanted and then Lyft back home. I ordered $60 of food for two and paid $25 for the ride. 85 F@©*ing dollars. The most expensive taco shop meal ever lol. There is plenty of free parking. It doesn't seem to have a whole lot of seating unless you want to sit outside. I always eat/crave Mexican late at night so it's never a place I'd even consider dining in at, especially if there are any punk @$$ kids hanging around there LOL so I can't say that much about the ambiance. As for pricing, it seems a bit expensive. I don't go out to eat everyday like I used to anymore, so I'm not sure if this place is more expensive than any other place actually. It just seems like everything is too expensive these days. I've never felt that way in my life before until after COVID =\ When are people going to realize that an increase in minimum wage doesn't help anyone?
