My daughter and I came here for a junior prom dress today. I bought my oldest daughter a senior prom dress here in 2018 that was stunning, so we hoped to get lucky here again. With only 2 weeks til prom, we were worried. She immediately found like 10 beautiful dresses to try on. She narrowed it down to 3 after much deliberation - they were all so beautiful! The staff was so helpful and friendly. They were attentive and gave honest feedback. They knew their merchandise well. There were 4 customers in the shop at one time while we were there and I watched them give good, attentive service to each of them. The dresses they have on the racks are sample dresses and range from size 2 to 14, though most are in the 2-8 range. So if you're not tiny you'll have trouble trying things on, but they can order any dress you like in your size and many of them are available in multiple colors. Heads up though that it can take 4-5 weeks to order a dress, so leave yourself plenty of time and order a few months in advance if you can. You never know if things will be held up these days in shipping. We finally managed to choose 1 and it's so gorgeous. They let us buy it off the rack since we didn't have time to order one (It was a sample). It's a size too big, but we'll be able to get it altered in time. The employees gave us the name of a good tailor they work with. It seems like the prices have gone up by about $100-$150 more than what I remember from 2018. The dress we chose was $520, which was about $120 more than I expected to spend, but the dress is absolutely beautiful on her and we didn't have to go looking all over CT. One and done! That's worth something. I read a lot of the other reviews on here and was surprised to see one star ratings and bad experiences with the staff. Our experience could not have been better. Some people complained that their daughters were unable to go try stuff on without their mothers there- I can see where that would be annoying, but these are very expensive dresses, and I'm sure they don't want groups of girls coming in and trying things on for fun. The more people try them on, the more worn out the dress gets, then they have to discount it to sell it. We looked at a few that had broken zippers or unraveling stitches (in the spaghetti string ties that lace up the back) from too many try-ons. So they don't want casual shoppers handling them and trying them on- it's more wear and tear. So please be considerate of the business and adjust your expectations. My daughter and I visited the shop looking for a prom dress. We expected more individualized service, instead we found teenage high school girls who were supposed to be helping clients throughout the process, more interested in their own social lives sending text messages and talking to each other about what their social plans were after work while actually lacing up dresses for clients! It created a very uncomfortable situation for both myself and my daughter. Instead of interacting with the customers, they were more interested in their own lives. It felt like we were interrupting them when we needed assistance. Their feedback about dresses that my daughter tried on felt ingenuine and sometimes pushy. Additionally, there were no mirrors in the dressing rooms, so you had to come out in order to see yourself in the mirror, even if you didn't think you were going to like a dress. read more

Went in today to shop for a Spring Fling dress for my daughter and didn't know we needed an appointment but despite that, staff was very accommodating. Especially Laura! She was so helpful, patient and kind and we walked out with a gorgeous dress! They have a very large upscale collection of dresses to choose from. Many fitting rooms. When you say yes to a dress, they announce it, ring a bell and the entire staff clap and cheer! I have to say, it was an amazing experience and THANK YOU! Stay away from these rude people. I have never, and will never purchase anything from this store. I walked through there this past weekend during the downtown Newtown Trick or Treat event with my 7 year old daughter. My sweet daughter touched her literal fingertip to one of the sequin gowns so gently in admiration and an employee came over and said, "If you've been eating candy and have dirty little fingers please don't touch the dresses". I gave her a filthy look and ushered my child out of there. My child did nothing wrong, and for the record, she had not eaten any candy that day, and had perfectly clean fingers. Buying a prom dress should be a good experience. This store marks up all dress 8% or more above MSRP. Additionally, they charge 3% if you purchase using a credit card. Their explanation was that everyone does this, however it is NOT true. Atianas, Dazzle, Occasions charge you only MSRP and no more. Don't waste your time at Sabrina Style. Go to Atianas, Dazzle or Occasions and you will have a much better experience. read more

GO ANYWHERE ELSE Absolutely horrible. I went to try on dresses the one they had as a sample was snug and could use some more room, the employee who was assisting me told me to simple order one (1) size up which I then did. When the dress initially came in I did not try it on and that was my fault as when I did put the dress on, I had to do a double check that this was my dress! Small in every way imaginable, smaller than the sample that was a size smaller than the dress I ordered. Immediately called them told me to come in to see wha they could do. Most condescending, rude, outright gaslighting me to believe the dress was a perfect fit. I am honesty overjoyed to give this salon 1 star. I came here 5 years ago. Yes, FIVE and I still can not get over the treatment we received. The other night as I was asked what places were good to look for prom dresses, I was reminded of how horrible my experience was here and made sure to tell my friend to NOT come here ever. I was so excited to look for prom dresses my senior year of high school. Upon arrival the workers here were rude. I fell in love with a dress and really wanted to try it on. I asked them if I could. The FIRST response I received was "can you afford that dress?" they LITERALLY wouldn't even let me try it on. One of my friends at the time also came here to try a dress on and the workers here literally told her she was too HEAVY for the dresses and that she could not try them on!!! Are you kidding me?! What a poor run shop. I also met someone who went in to try a dress on and had the same situation as I experienced and when she was harassed she told them she had a credit card and she could pay for the dresses. After trying some on she left and bought it elsewhere. Honestly never buy from here. I was so tempted to come back to let them know I bought my $250 prom dress elsewhere due to how terrible their customer service was, but at the time I didn't. I would never recommend that anyone goes here. Whether you want to drop $50 or $500 on a dress go elsewhere. This shop is the WORST. The man behind the counter was immediately rude and condescending to me when he realized I wasn't there with my mom, and informed of their policy where you need your mom to shop with you. I don't understand why me being an 18 year old can't shop and pay for my own prom dress. I was told I could only look around and come back with my mom or dad. I left and called the store a while later to ask about the policy, and the woman on the phone said the policy was put into place because of covid?? The store has no covid regulations in the store and I can't understand why they would implement a policy like this. My 18 year old daughter went to the store on her own to buy a prom dress and was met with condescending service and advised that she could only look around, not try on dresses without her mother there. My daughter advised them that both her parents work during their store hours and was told to return on a weekend. She also called to advise the owner that she was 18 and didn't understand the policy. The owner said the policy was covid related, but made no effort to change or flex the policy for my daughter. Three months ago i tried on a dress for my daughter's wedding and ordered it in a different color, to be shipped to my home in Philadelphia. Purchase price was $500. When it arrived I put it in my closet until 6 weeks ago when I brought it to get altered. To my dismay, the sparkles in the material were everywhere...on my skin, my face, and even on the floor of the tailor's, who suggested there was something wrong with the material that it would be shedding sparkles so profusely and would clearly be ALL OVER EVERYONE at the wedding. Needless to say I then immediately went to look elsewhere for a new dress for the big day, which luckily for me, will be ready 2 days before the wedding this week. When I attempted to bring the dress back to Sabrina's and asked for a refund or even a store credit, I was told by the owner that the dress was a final sale and that there was nothing wrong with the dress, "that's just the way the dress is." I find this an unacceptable response, as sparkles on a $500 dress should not just flake off. There is clearly something wrong in its manufacturing which the shop owner should have had integrity to address with the manufacturing company. Let me emphasize that the one I tried on initially in a different color did not have this problem. What ever happened to keeping the customer happy? The shop owner was completely unwilling to budge. I will be sure to pass the word for people to shop elsewhere is they're looking for a formal dress. read more

First of all Bonnie and I are not dear customers. I was the mom who came in to be with my daughter (not Bonnie who made the phone call, so let's get that straight) My daughter knew I was on my way and indicated that she told you that. She texted me in excitement about how she found "the dress" as I was on my way to the store. We spend a lot of time in Sandy Hook and have driven by your store many, many times. My daughter was so excited to have had the opportunity to go in the store. While I was not there to witness the events that you claim have transpired, only about 15% matches my daughters' story. She said that you were rude, did not help pin anything, would not allow pictures to be taken in the dresses because they were rushed so that the "dressing rooms could be used for paying customers" on top of being asked to leave the store: "you guys need to get going because we have a fashion show and need the space." There were only 2 other customers in the store at the time, perhaps your math is adding their parents/guardians. I would be interested in knowing the policy for girls who do not have parents/guardians or parents work off hours and cannot be there in person. Upon my arrival, I did ask if the girls were thrown out of the store and you indicated that it was policy to not allow girls to try on more than 2 dresses without a parent. Which I thought was reasonable. The girls then came in again, started looking at dresses again, you walked down the aisle as if you were coming to help us, looked at me and walked away. That is poor customer service. You had 3 girls in there who were ready to drop $500 each if not more. As I left, I indicated that I would never purchase anything from your store even if you paid me to buy something. To which there was yet another less than professional, horrible customer service reply by another woman and the gentleman at the counter: "we have plenty of paying customers..." As with all small business owners, the worse thing you can get for your business is bad press. If you had come over and asked if you could've helped us, we would've gladly continued to do business with you. In fact, one of the girls with us bought her almost $500 dress from you last year and you have now lost her business as well. I hope that your demeanor is not like it was on that day on a regular basis. It must be such a hard time of year for you with the stress of it all. However, since you have the monopoly in this area, you and your colleagues most likely get away with it. My daughter and I found the most beautiful (and expensive) dress at Dynamite Designs in Wallingford last night. They were professional, helpful, full of energy and excitement. These girls have another prom next year and we will be going back there. In fact, this shop is doing a prom fund raiser fashion show for our HS - which I didn't know until last night. I love driving past Sabrina style and seeing all the gorgeous dresses in the window. I was very excited to shop there for my daughter's prom but was very disappointed to see that the only sizes you can try on are for very thin girls. We didn't find any sizes above a 6. We were told that she could find a dress she likes and order it in a larger size but we would then need to pay for it. I was disappointed to see that they don't cater to women of all sizes. The only area of the store that has larger sizes is the bridesmaid's section and that's just not suitable for prom. I wish our experience was different. The dresses are beautiful, but the owner of this shop needs a lesson on customer service (and basic manners). I saw a beautiful dress online that I tried on in this shop. Online, it was almost $300 cheaper than what the owner had the price as in the store. However, I couldn't buy the dress online, as they only had sizes 0 and 2 online, but my size, 6 in the store. I showed the owner this and she immediately said "You're not a size 0!" She then went on and said the same thing to me about another dress. I am not insecure about my weight, but I know just how horrible a statement like that can make a teenage girl feel. My mother then spoke to her about this, and she immediately pretended to care and started saying I looked stunning and beautiful in that same dress. If it wasn't for the HORRIBLE customer service I would've actually purchased a dress! First of all they looked at my mother and I like we were trash because we weren't wearing fancy outfits (wearing workout clothes) and made a face. I went in and they asked what I was there for and I said Snowball (which is a fancy dance at my school like a mini prom) and I guess since they didn't know what that was they treated me like an outcast compared to the people who said they were there to dress for prom dresses. They were very rude and pushy and almost made it seem like doing their job was a huge favor for us. When I asked them for another dress to try on they made it seem like it was the end of the world. I bought my daughter's prom dress here a few years ago to the tune of $400+ dollars. When I went to pay with my Discover card, the owner asked if I could use another credit card because Discover charges her too much. Ummm, nope! Discover gives me rewards for every dollar that I spend, so that's what I used. Fast forward one year and my daughter and I went back to Sabrina's for her to look for another prom dress. She had a few hanging in the dressing room that she was using and along comes the owner who reaches in and grabs one of the dresses and tells my daughter "this won't fit you" and takes it away. The customer service is awful, told my daughter and her friend they had to leave the store after trying on 1 dress. They were told the dressing rooms are for paying customers! Seeing they were prom dress shopping they were paying customers! Can't buy if you can't try! After my daughter had tried on four dresses she was forced out of the dressing room and was told she was holding up the line, yet there were multiple dressing rooms opened. The customer service was horrible. I am a young adult attending with my sister and friend both of which were looking for dresses for their senior prom. We were treated rudely off the back because our mom could not make it, although I had the money to buy a dress if we were to find one my sister liked. We were shoved away into a "fitting room" without a mirror that is smaller then most closets while other girls that were there with their moms were given large dressing rooms and access to the 3 way mirror. We were constantly asked what school the girls were from and told to stop looking at dresses because of a 2 dress limit although other girls were trying on many more. Worst of all - while simply looking at a specific dress I thought my sister would like (she is a 00 or 0 dress size) I was told I was too large to fit into the dress and reminded that it was a size 0 and then questioned whether my sister (who was on the other side of the store) could fit into a size 0. Regardless of whether the dress was for myself I shouldn't have been told I was too large to look at an article of clothing and found it in poor taste and insulting. read more
