Amazing flavors! The customer service was the best we have ever received at a food truck! The prices are great as well!

First time visit to this small and excellent restaurant…read more Located at the corner of Fry Road and Mound Road it has a restaurant seating area of about 50 and a large bar area for 20 more. The menu is short but includes most of the classics. I had the Seafood Tacos and my wife had the Chicken Mole Enchilada. The tacos were surrounded by a flour tortilla (corn is also available) with fish that can be grilled or steamed. Packed with flavor from the onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and more I enjoyed every last bite. The plate included rice, beans, and sliced red onion. Delicious My wife loved her selection as well. The serving was big enough to take home what was not consumed allowing her an extra day to enjoy the mole. We also ordered a side of guacamole which was served as a huge rounded scoop on a plank. Don't get me started on the chips we used to eat every last bit of the guacamole. When we told our waiter, Jose, how much we liked the chips he gave us a bag to take home! I had some today and they were still crunchy with a hint of salt. Now to drinks: my wife had the house Pinot Grigio and I the house margarita which I ordered frozen with no salt. The margarita had a clear lime note but did not suffer from it. All in all we agreed that Carmelita's deserves a return visit next time Mexican food is our choice.

If the service was good, it would've been a 5 star. It started well but she lost interest in us. Took almost 20mins and we had to get up to reminder her that we still needed the check.

Shout out to the kitchen for accepting our table of 16 before they were closing. (We called…read morebeforehand to verify their hours, and they warmly welcomed us, FYI.) Fajitas and parrilladas, molcajetes, enchies, ceviches, caldos... they serve an array of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine. Staff is always friendly and energetic--it's def a neighborhood restaurant! And they have a drive thru. I believe they do tequila tastings/tequila dinners. I've only had a few margaritas there, and unfortch haven't really liked 'em (a lil too sweet, even the skinny marg). Though, my fam loves their margs.

Given all the shortcuts that so many restaurants take, this place deserves a "5" just for the fact that they do make everything themselves. And our meal was really excellent as well and a very fair price. We started with a Cheese quesadilla and our special request to have onions in there as well. It was good. For brunch we ordered the $12 Concha French Toast because Mr. Picky has a sweet tooth. That is Concha bread soaked in vanilla bean custard, topped with caramel, toasted coconut, cinnamon, whipped cream and berries. Mr. Picky didn't even need the side syrup. I like savory items and I so ordered the El Valle which was also $12. Two cheese enchiladas which I topped with sunny side up eggs, served with white rice and refried black beans. I added seasoned ground beef into the enchiladas and that was an extra $2. I requested white cheese enchiladas, don't know if that was standard or not. I am not a huge bean lover, but I have to tell you that the refried black beans on that plate were delicious. Very filling dish, tasted really good and it was a great value. Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday from 9am-3pm. I think this is the best breakfast/brunch I've had in the past two years. Generous amount of food and I couldn't finish it all. They have a bakery section and we walked over to look and see what we wanted to have for dessert. We couldn't decide between the interesting-looking carrot cake, the praline cheesecake or flan on top of chocolate cake. So we ordered and shared all three! LOL. Our favorites were the carrot cake and the praline cheesecake. I think this is the best breakfast/brunch we've had in the past two years. Generous amount of food and I couldn't finish it all. Five stars for making everything themselves, waiter Eduardo was very helpful, and we're definitely coming back soon!!!

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food--not Tex-Mex--this is the place. As San Diegans now living in Houston, we've been craving the flavors we grew up with, and this hit the spot. You can truly taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients in every dish. The pork in chile verde was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and the green salsa on the chilaquiles was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the menudo, and it did not disappoint it was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. One thing that really stood out was the owner, who stopped by several times to check on us, make sure we were enjoying every dish, and see if we needed anything. That level of hospitality made the experience even more memorable. The restaurant is clean, casual, and very family-friendly, making it a great spot for any occasion. We'll definitely be back, and we've already recommended it to our family and friends.

It's the closest place to me that serves pozole, and I'm glad I found it. The flavors are amazing, the broth is rich, and the ingredients always taste fresh. You can tell the owner or manager takes pride in the food they serve because the quality has been consistent every time. If you're craving a good bowl of pozole, I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

So I kept it light with half order of bean and cheese nachos. She got the chicken enchilada lunch special witch was actually very large. My nachos were pretty much what you'd expect and she liked hers for a couple of days due to the size. I have to say the prices were very reasonable for what they served us. Plus I'm happy to say the relationship survived another day!

Oh boy... I have to say it. This restaurant has not only some of the worst Mexican food I have ever…read morehad in or around the Houston area... the portions they provided were shocking. More specifically for my dish. When you sit down at a mexican restaurant and noticed that the salsa is awful, you know the food following will not be much better. The red salsa was almost sweet (not spicy at all) and the green salsa was more edible but no heat and cold. My dad asked for a spicier salsa and it was soooo salty. It also quite literally did not have any spice. I ordered the chicken breast alcapulco. When I say that I had a 4 pieces of rubbery small cubes of chicken breast on my plate, I quite literally mean that I had 4 pieces of rubbery cubed chicken breasts altogether on my plate. They styled it in a shishkabob fashion on my plate. (Cube chicken, slice of raw tomatoes, cold slice of avocado, zucchini and then repeat small chicken cube in that format). The sauce it was smothered in tasted like a canned enchilada sauce that was made by someone of European descen.. it was definitely not mexican. Chunks of zucchini threw me off so much and it was pretty hard. Didn't taste fully cooked. I just dont know how this place is still running. I also did have to remember that we were in the middle of cypress, tx and they may be accommodating to the usual crowd that comes in. My plate was also over $20 which was also hard to swallow. Both metaphorically and literally. The only reason why I gave this place a 2 stars is because of their tortillas and the cool vibe the restaurant does have. Our waitress was awesome too.
