I love Colombian food, so when I went here I was so excited! Sadly I wasn't completely happy with my experience. The food was okay but the service was not the best. We had 2 waitresses and it got a little confusing who was taking our order etc but it got taken care of. I think one of them was having a bad day so her attitude came out a little harsh but by the end she was a little nicer. The place is small but very authentic and you can definitely see Colombia reflected here! I loved that. For the food I order a bandeja paisa and most of the food was warm to room temperature except the egg. The flavor was good but I would've liked it a little hotter. I also order the maracuyá liquidado (milkshake) and that was a 10/10 & a large size. For appetizer I got a empanada de pollo and let me tell you that was so good! And that one was freshly made so it was warm and yummy! So the appetizer and drink were great, just the meal it could've been a little warmer. Over all I would try it again and hopefully it would be warmer but for sure their milkshake and empanadas were yummy !!

This is truly a hidden gem. It is located next to a bank and Starbucks, you can easily miss it. The inside is colorful and cozy. The staff is friendly and warm. I am not from NY, but I think this is what a Bodega must be like. The service is quick, but don't be fooled. Your food is made fresh and comes out hot. My friend ordered one of the soups, and I ordered the Pastor Arepas and Chicken Arepas. We also had an empanada, and it was savory and flaky. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of my Arepas, but they were packed to the brim and so tasty. I am made. I had no idea this was so close to my neighborhood. They also have a small grocery section right in the store. For a moment, you are transported away from San Antonio for a delicious treat. The prices are very reasonable, so I will be stopping by again soon.

Ordered food to go. Super yum. Had the battered fried pork, chuleta valluna. Loved it. The arroz con pollo was good too. I asked for no ketchup on top. The pechuga asada was good too. Plátanos maduros and arepas were awesome! Customer service was great. Definitely coming back.

Sweet Plantain is very disappointed, not sure why looks like this

This was my second time. I order to go and the steak was dry and small. The sweet plantains look old and had a weird color. The chorizo was burned. The beef empanadas had more potatoes than beef and had too much Cumin, so tasted like cumin. The cheese empanadas were excellent. Service was good, I will go back again to give them another chance since the first time I was there, the food was great.

We ordered the chimichurri steak medium, and it arrived well done. The fries were soggy, and the soda was clearly watered down. When we brought these issues up, no replacement or solution was offered. Overall, the lack of food quality and customer service made this a disappointing experience.

I saw this restaurant across the street while stopped at a red light on the way home from my doctor…read moreappointment. It is the #2 location on Culebra Road. My son and I both like Colombian food based on visits to a competitor that we have gone to many times closer to our house. When I mentioned this place to him, he said we should try it out soon. Today was the day. The first thing I noticed was the size of the dining room. It was roomy with several tables that were appropriately spread out. The decor is attractive with eye catching art painted on the white walls. The tables all have a splash of color on them, as well. Altogether is creates a bright and cheery atmosphere. We were very comfortable. I also noticed that the one television on the far wall was showing Univision and the music being played was in Spanish. I really like the music of a restaurant to reflect the nationality of the cuisine. Our server was an extremely helpful young man. He helped us with the menu. Unlike what is stated in other reviews, the food is described in english. Unfortunately, there are some items that don't translate. Those are the ones I needed help with. We both ended up ordering the same thing. It was lengua in a delicious tomato sauce served with french fries, avocado slices, white rice, salad, and a fried plantain patty. The amount of food on the plates was absolutely outrageous, but we managed to get pretty danged close to clean plates. The flavors were really nice. There was a huge squeeze bottle of Salsa Colombiana (I think that's what he called it) and another with Salsa tartara, the Columbian version of tartar sauce. It was amazing. It was creamy and savory without that sweet pickle taste American folk put on seafood. For drinks, I had a jugo de pina. My son had one made with passion fruit. I heard them being made fresh in the kitchen. They blended the fresh fruit with some water or milk and ice. Mine was really refreshing. It was served in those giant iced tea glasses some places use. There was a lady and her son at another table. I listened as they ordered in Spanish. They asked almost the same questions as we did, so being fluent in Spanish must not mean you would understand the Colombia specific food vocabulary. As we were paying our bill, the lady was pointing to everything on her plate asking "What is this?" in Spanish. I found that a little humorous, as the explanations when ordering were pretty good. My son and I had not problems recognizing the foods on our plate based on what we had heard. On our way home, we passed by the Bandera location. My son pointed it out to me. I don't remember ever seeing it there, but my son says he knew about it. That made me wonder why we frequented the competitor on Tezel where we like the food, but felt uncomfortable being packed in so close in the tiny dining room. In the truck, my son was already telling me what he planned to eat next time. There will definitely be a next time. I need to try their arepas and empanadas, as well as some other jugos.
