First time trying this restaurant & it did not disappoint! Nice inside with booths & local food products for sale. I ordered online & picking up was easy. The food was fairly priced & good size portions.

I placed an order online for delivery last month for a few menu items. I found this location on Yelp. Let's get to it! Picada Colombiana is a dish of fried ingredients like steak, chicken, arepa, potato, yuca, morcilla, chorizo, chicharron, carne de cerdo, and plantain. The word picada means "chopped" in Spanish. The picada is prepared in the mortar and must contain a basic triad: almond, bread and some liquid. Almonds are toasted and can be replaced by another nut like hazelnut, pinenut, walnut, or some combination of those. Bread is crushed in a mortar after being made dry and hard from going stale, being toasted, or being fried in oil. Otherwise, some sort of sweet biscuit or cookie may be used. The liquid used is usually the cooking juice but stock or hot water can be used as well. This dish had flavor and lots of it! This dish in particular was only served with pork. The pork and spice combination used here was peppery and earthy at the same time and a bit on the dry side. Plantnos Plantains contain more starch and less sugar than dessert bananas, so they are usually cooked or otherwise processed before being eaten. They are typically boiled or fried when eaten green, and when processed, they can be made into flour and turned into baked products such as cakes, bread and pancakes. These plantains had a bit of cinnamon for sweetness and were a bit limp but served their purposes as a desert that could even out the dryness of the picada. The food served here was above average but not the most spectacular Columbian dishes I've encountered. However, for those looking to get their feet wet with Colombian food, this may be your spot.

What a rip off...omg I feel disgusted at what we paid for this. Definitely NOT even close to their photos...nothing was edible. We ordered the Bendeja Paisa and the chicharron plate. It looked and tasted like day old food....arepeas crumbly, rotten avocado, oily beans and rice. I had to argue with DoorDash in order to get a full refund. Dang, never again...not even close to Columbia

Recomendado.

My son and I were planning to eat dinner together at another venue, but it was closed. I suggested Sabor De Sanchez, because we had been there once when it first opened and really liked it. We tried to go a couple of times after that, but it was full. We are both a little too shy to stand waiting for a table in a tiny crowded restaurant. Today, there were plenty of spaces for us at the six tables inside. We both ordered a Pony Malta to drink. It was really good. It was almost the same as a Goya Malta, but had a richer flavor. For food, we each ordered the Bandeja Paisa. It was a platter of non-ending goodies including, rice, beans, sausage, skirt steak, chicharrone, plantains, avocado, an egg, and a little bread circle. Everything tasted delicious, especially when we put some of the aji Colombian salsa on it. They gave us so much food that we each brought half of it home with us, something that almost never happens! Before leaving, we ordered some empenadas (2 chicken and 2 beef) just because we like them. I ate one of mine when we got home while it was still hot and crunch. Absolutely wonderful. Now, I need to say that today was my second try of Colombian food- both times being at Sabor De Sanchez. I can not comment on the authenticity, although a Columbian lady siting next to us told me it was the best and most authentic Colombian food in San Antonio. What do I know. I'm just someone who likes to eat different kinds of food. On my personal fatman scale this place is rated "excellent"!

Came here with my family a few times already since I wanted to make sure the quality of the the food was consistent. This is in my opinion, hands down the best "ajiaco" I've had in the area. The owners are super committed to this business and they're proud of the food they produce, they know how to make authentic Colombian food. It's a little place in a small plaza, but the food here is definitely big on flavour and huge in quality. If you're curious of the dishes, are in the area, and want to try something new, this is your place! But, if you're missing some of "your" childhood food, treats you only find in stores in a Colombian neighborhood store, this is definitely your place! Either way, you won't be disappointed. This is not the type of restaurant for a date, or a fancy treat... It's a place to sit, relax, and enjoy some "soul" food.

Very disappointed with the food today! We spent $69.00 for all this food. It was dry, under cook and overcooked. I think that they need to focus on the customer service since there aren't that many Colombians out here in San Antonio! I hope that they get their stuff together. But I guess we will try another place before going back here again.

    Sancocho Trifásico

Hands down the best Sancocho in the Texas Triangle Region. It is big !!! The soup is thick and full of flavor... it will remind you the abuelitas' soup. The best food for hangover .

I saw this restaurant across the street while stopped at a red light on the way home from my doctor…read moreappointment. It is the #2 location on Culebra Road. My son and I both like Colombian food based on visits to a competitor that we have gone to many times closer to our house. When I mentioned this place to him, he said we should try it out soon. Today was the day. The first thing I noticed was the size of the dining room. It was roomy with several tables that were appropriately spread out. The decor is attractive with eye catching art painted on the white walls. The tables all have a splash of color on them, as well. Altogether is creates a bright and cheery atmosphere. We were very comfortable. I also noticed that the one television on the far wall was showing Univision and the music being played was in Spanish. I really like the music of a restaurant to reflect the nationality of the cuisine. Our server was an extremely helpful young man. He helped us with the menu. Unlike what is stated in other reviews, the food is described in english. Unfortunately, there are some items that don't translate. Those are the ones I needed help with. We both ended up ordering the same thing. It was lengua in a delicious tomato sauce served with french fries, avocado slices, white rice, salad, and a fried plantain patty. The amount of food on the plates was absolutely outrageous, but we managed to get pretty danged close to clean plates. The flavors were really nice. There was a huge squeeze bottle of Salsa Colombiana (I think that's what he called it) and another with Salsa tartara, the Columbian version of tartar sauce. It was amazing. It was creamy and savory without that sweet pickle taste American folk put on seafood. For drinks, I had a jugo de pina. My son had one made with passion fruit. I heard them being made fresh in the kitchen. They blended the fresh fruit with some water or milk and ice. Mine was really refreshing. It was served in those giant iced tea glasses some places use. There was a lady and her son at another table. I listened as they ordered in Spanish. They asked almost the same questions as we did, so being fluent in Spanish must not mean you would understand the Colombia specific food vocabulary. As we were paying our bill, the lady was pointing to everything on her plate asking "What is this?" in Spanish. I found that a little humorous, as the explanations when ordering were pretty good. My son and I had not problems recognizing the foods on our plate based on what we had heard. On our way home, we passed by the Bandera location. My son pointed it out to me. I don't remember ever seeing it there, but my son says he knew about it. That made me wonder why we frequented the competitor on Tezel where we like the food, but felt uncomfortable being packed in so close in the tiny dining room. In the truck, my son was already telling me what he planned to eat next time. There will definitely be a next time. I need to try their arepas and empanadas, as well as some other jugos.
