Excellent customer service. The Menudo is great some of the best I've ever had. The staff is very friendly.

Great service, good food. I was greeted with a prompt Good Morning as I walked in. I sat and ordered the Huevos Rancheros breakfast plate with carne guisada. The food came out within 5 minutes (I was the only in house diner). The carne guisada had a subtle tomato flavor and was tender although I felt it needed a little salt and pepper to bring out the tomato/meat flavor. The eggs and ranchera sauce were ok, nothing stood out. The beans tasted homemade but had little to no flavor. The tortillas were fluffy, hot, and fantastic! The potatoes were good but not "warmed" up completely. Side note: the coffee was somewhat tasty. Fresh and hot! This place looks like a newer opened business and is 2 doors down from another taco place, going to have to try that one next! I wanted this restaurant to taste as good as run down as the outside looked but was a little disappointed. read more

SCAM ALERT!!! Warning!!!! I went here with my family of four and had a really disappointing experience. We ordered two menudo's, one taco, and one El Paso plate, and our total came out to over $70, which already felt high for what we got. What's worse is that we noticed the waitress had added a tip on her own without telling us. When I brought it up, I was first told that gratuity is automatically added for tables of four or more. Then, after speaking with someone else, they said it was a "mistake." They were able to remove that charge. That's a big red flag. Getting two completely different explanations makes it hard to trust what's going on. It felt dishonest and unprofessional. Please double-check your receipt if you come here. They will charge you more than what you ordered. Be careful!! We're glad we caught it, but it definitely left a bad impression. read more

I ordered 4 different tacos for my party . The tacos were filled kind of small and the tortillas are homemade, but the flour tortillas felt old and tasted like they were reheated from a day ago . It cost $12.80 for 4 tacos . We took the tacos home and when we opened up the bag, one of the hot sauces was bubbled like it was about to explode. It was old so we ended up throwing that one away , be cautious if you use hot sauce. read more

Went for some local breakfast tacos with my mom one morning. Sabor de Mexico is a capable taqueria with a regular clientele. It has good deals on breakfast tacos and doesn't charge extra for things that are off the menu. They have a good selection of huevos rancheros, but I still wanted another taco after devouring the breakfast plate. Service was great. Our server was always checking up on us. She kept the drinks filled, and the tacos coming. Coffee is steaming hot. And they have some aguas frescas if you're in the mood for that. I would return. read more

I hate leaving reviews that are unflattering but then I would be lying if I did not. This was our first time there as the place we were looking for on Austin highway seems to have closed and replaced by a Las Palapas? Anyway service was friendly and the lady has a big personality so I'd give service a solid 5. Food not so much. We ordered a mini taco plate with asada - bland lime they had no salt in the restaurant. The usual limes, onions and cilantro on the side but sadly they were unable to save the flavor. The beans were also lacking any flavor. The rice wasn't too bad but I've hardly ever been to a Mexican joint where food was so bland. We also ordered these flautas( taquitos) based on someone raving how close they were to this place in El Paso (Chicos?). Well, I guess I can also scratch Chicos off my list if this was as good as theirs. 3 to an order sitting in a boat full of sauce with shredded cheese on top. Sadly, One and done for us! read more

07 Apr 2023 We were in the area to go Pet Supplies Plus and they are about a block down. The restaurant looks small from the outside. Inside however, it's pretty large. Tables up front with booths along the wall and down the middle. A solid Tex-mex restaurant. Our server was very enthusiastic. We arrived just after 11am, so breakfast plates would be another dollar. Not really a bad thing; they're pretty cheap to begin with. We went for lunch plates. The husband has the #1 and I had green enchiladas. The #1 looked like it was a milenesa of sorts with salad, rice and beans. Both were pretty tasty and came with flour tortillas. We've had better tortillas, but they were not bad. Their coffee is a bit weak. Disturbing - a sign is posted in our booth that says the server's salary is dependent on gratuities. Good grief. I'd be over the top enthusiastic, too! read more

I came here based on a post I saw from FB on the San Antonio Restaurant page. I should have known better but people were saying great things about the food. Particularly the chicos tacos. I've never had them so I was curious about them. They were soggy ground beef flautas. They had a lot of sauce and cheese. The taco might have been better with less sauce but they were soggy! The carne asada street tacos had no flavor nor did the beans. The rice was the only thing that had any seasoning on our table. The service was great. Had a Togo order for four tacos 2/4 were bean and cheese. It took them 30ish mins to give me 4 tacos. Then the tortilla didn't even taste cooked right, and the tacos weren't all that. Had been here a loooong time ago. I think menu was different then. The menu is simple and heavy on tacos and of all things Tortas so you know you are in a good place. However somehow I missed their grilled cheese. Apparently a new item $4.99 for the sandwich only. They have an entire grilled cheese menu. What a treat. I had the barbacoa. Fantastic. We passed by this restaurant on a quest to find a good breakfast and boy were we happy to find this gem. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and told we could choose our table. We were approached by a very bubbly woman named Nina who took our drink orders while we browsed the menu. There were so many things I wanted to try! We got the chips and salsa which were a steep $2.99 for the portion and what seemed to be store bought chips. The salsa was fantastic, however. I HAD to get the Chicos style tacos (IYKYK) which I believe they call chicho's. AMAZING! I will definitely go back for them! We both got the huevos rancheros which were very good. I got the bacon and my husband got the barbacoa, all very solid except the tortillas. They're not the worst I've ever had but they're definitely not the best. My husband tried a carne guisada taco and he thought it was very good. He's a carne guisada aficionado so I would trust his opinion! I only ordered a pancake because of the picture that was posted here on Yelp but it did not meet my expectations. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but it definitely did not look like the picture that was posted in the food album. Our waitress was very nice but our service was spotty. We had to ask several times for refills but Nina apologized and we understood that we were not her only table. This is definitely a mom and pop shop that I would try if you've never been there. Simply put, this place is awesome. Came over to give it a try with no expectations, on my way to an event and want to grab a quick bite. From the outside it is very unassuming and lost among the club, vape shop and other restaurant in the strip. Honestly I think they put all the effort and magic into the food. This place has a huge workingmans menu full of great options and serves both breakfast and lunch. The hot sauce is tasty and not super hot. In this situation its all about flavor. The tacos I ordered were pretty packed, especially the barbacola. The interior is nice, not overly decorated with kitch but enough to remind you its a restaurant and make you feel comfortable. The server was really nice, friendly and full of suggestions. My tacos came out super fast ( about 5 minutes) and i was checked on twice. A very nice little family run place for breakfast or lunch. The food is good, the prices are very fair and the service is friendly. Definately worth a visit if you are in the area at breakfast time. On weekends they have menudo on the menu and it is so very good. The menudo is seasoned nicely and prepared right so no oil slick nor is it gamey. They now offer barbacoa every day. A pound is $9.99. Comes with everything you need for assembling tasty tacos. Get a pound to go and munch at home or bring some friends and munch there. Both the flour and corn tortillas are fresh made in house. The barbacoa is spot on in flavor and not too greasy. The potatoes are cooked and seasoned well. Reminds me of home. The flour tortillas are homemade, fluffy, and not dense. The carne guisada is on the more dry side, but it has great flavor. The chorizo and potato is delicious. Not to many review but I was caught with the homemade tortillas so I ordered, I got bean n cheese, potato egg, chorizo potato all on flour. When I got there small place n very modestly decorated so b4 I pay I ordered 2 corn tortillas just to try them. So let's talk about tacos, they were small n not packed but they were tasty, the potato egg was good n the chorizo potato had good flavor wasn't greasy n the bean n cheese was good cuz the beans tasted homemade. Now the corn tortillas, hold the fone!!!! They were delicious, kinda thick but very good. I wud try their lunch in the future n I really love these lil hole in the wall places with great food!!! They had red n green salsa but I opted out since I had my own at home. We've had the enchiladas, quesadilla, mini tacos and other deliciousness I can't think of right this second. We've enjoyed every single thing we've ever gotten here. Their tortillas are homemade and so good! They're served with just about everything you order. They've got really good sweet tea. Their sodas are canned so no fountain drinks but that's not a big deal for me. I see the same cook in the kitchen every time we go too, so I imagine that's why it's consistently good!
