At the seafood area, there's a middle age (Mexican?) man with a white beanie, about 5'9" and medium build body. He was very rude and yelled loudly at a customer, the one and only customer there at the time. It was unbelievable! Of course the customer left without wasting another minute there. I left soon after too. I am thankful that there are so many CLEAN and nice Asian markets in Seattle with good customer service and FRESH products. This Hong Kong Market in Kent definitely on the very bottom of all.

They do have a good selection of items but most of their brands are the premium ones. I did find the vegetables are ok priced as are most of the dry goods and snacks. Their margin is in frozen food. Some items are astronomically higher. Lamb Kebabs for e.g. are 22+ and the same brand item is $12 in anything not called Apna Bazaar. I wish they fairly price and not rip off their clientele. There are other competing Indian stores nearby (but with not as much inventory) that are hurting for business. 4 stars for selection and cleanliness, 1 star for price, 2 stars for unfriendly cashier, 4 star for accessibility and parking, 5 stars for a write-in requests board

Located on the northern Kent border in the industrial park area, this deceptively large grocery holds products from the Middle East, India, Pakistan, and a few others representing South Asia. The store is Halaal certified, and for those looking for that regional specific product from that region, it is most likely here. Going in, I was not prepared for excitement that I felt walking when I walked in to find the spices and curries I was looking for but could easily not find in a western North America based grocery store. Even the frozen food section was a treat: frozen Naan bread, frozen Saag Paneer to take for lunch, and brands of 25 pound bags of basmahti rice. Let's not forget the busy butchery section preparing several Halal cuts for the long line of customers, all awaiting their turn to put their personal request in. It's a great relationship that is forged. As someone who wants to eat as authentically as possible without the America-substituted analogs, I have found joy in this place that can make my dishes shine the way they were intended.
