This was listed as a location for the CAP program to retire your car. My aunts 99' Saturn was running but was not passing smog and some other issues. She Applied for the program and qualified and upon recycling her car she would receive a check $1,500. We show up about 8:20am, as you pull in a guy will direct you. We parked Saturn car to the left of entrance and I parked to right as soon as you pass gates. We filled out some paperwork and turned in letter from CAP program. I waited in parking lot, meanwhile my aunt drove her car to its DESTINY! I waited about 20 minutes and followed an employee driving my aunt down the block to what looked like the exit for the big rigs and a few bungalows where she picked up her check! As we left about 9:30 am it was packed at least 9 cars mixed with a few big rigs. So getting here early is recommended... read more

Called this place to see if they were accepting CAP vehicle recycling under the BAR program - a staff picked up and said they were accepting. So I spent 40 mins driving here to drop off, and then was told they do not accept CAP vehicle after telling me otherwise. Absolutely unacceptable level of professionalism. read more

Where do I start? Part 1-Their appointment to pick-up my car was 7-9am. I called SA Recycling to leave them a message at 8:30am to tell them that if they don't show up by 10am, they would need to reschedule next day. The tow truck driver shows up a little after 9am. The first thing out of his mouth, "I called you, why didn't you pick up your phone." Part 2-The lady with him who was supposedly in charge of filling out the paperwork was clueless and I had to make sure she filled out everything correctly. Part 3-The tow truck driver gave me a business card that read SA Recycling at 2411 North Glassell Street in Orange, CA 92865 which was the address I used to do the Release of Liability online with the DMV. However, the address they wrote on the actual Release of Liability was 3200 E. Frontera Street in Anaheim, CA 92806. Part 4-The first thing you want to do after you see your pile of junk getting towed away and waving good-bye is to go onto dmv.ca.gov to Release the Liability because God Knows you can't rely on SA Recycling to Transfer the Title! read more

I recycle here very often, very very smooth process. Weigh in, drop, weigh out - grab your cash. Although, I had my truck fully loaded around the holidays, I needed to use it to transport some household equipment but also work 60hours a week. That's 0600 to 1630 every day mon thru sat. This place has no respect for people's time. I got there a few minutes before their posted opening time (7:00 AM) on a Saturday, thinking I could get this chore done and still have time to go to a charity walk. I waited until 7:20 in a growing line of cars and trucks, with some jerks parking right across the entrance and blocking it (I was parked across the street waiting for the magical roll-up door to open). Maybe seeing fistfights break out due to people cutting in line is their idea of entertainment, but in any case this is unacceptable business practice. If you can't open on time at least put up a sign saying so and why. read more

It's drive through so you get to just chill around while watching the workers sort through your recyclables. I felt like a Roman emperor at first, but couldn't help myself from lending a hand. I was expecting them to pay off less because of the actual labor that they are doing, but that wasn't true at all. We got more than the other place we used to go to (CVT Recycling). Once they finished one of the guys asked us if it was our first time since we were helping them go through our bags. We confessed on being noobs, and he told us that they take care of it all, and to not go back to CVT. Then he sat us down around a campfire that was conveniently placed, gave us s'mores, and told us the great tale of two Siamese twins that wanted to start a recycling venture together so they went ahead and did just that. After a year of opening the place they experienced exponential growth and had to open up a second recycling center. Which in turn forced them to become surgically removed from each other in order to properly manage both facilities. With his newly found freedom one of the brothers bought a race unicorn, but he only had one leg so his unicorn racing days were over before they even started. He then got greedy and...eh what's the use. I can't make a review about a recycling center interesting. But for someone who is digging through other people's crap for 8 hours a day, the man that helped us sure had a great attitude. We thanked him, bid farewell and went to claim our reward. Got like $25 to use towards drugs that will eventually help me come up with a better tale of two brothers divided by an insatiable love for aluminum, plastic, glass, and scrap metal. read more

This is a great place for recycling ferrous materials(anything made from steel). Staff is always friendly and helpful. I would not recommend coming here in your luxury SUV, as it can be very muddy, and there is always debris in the yard that you will have to drive over. Also if you have non-ferrous(copper, aluminum, stainless), this is not the place. Try the place next door or the SA Recycling in Santa Ana. read more

It was too heavy for me to load and take to their metal scrap yard. Diane referred me to a smaller dealer who picked up my machine. !!!MUST READ IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME!!! This morning I dropped off exactly 500 pounds of Aluminum at SA RECYCLING. The load was compromised of Aluminium siding ( 35 yr old and never painted except for factory coat. After 35 yrs in Tucson weather paint was actually transparent), unfinished billet aluminum, unfinished window frames, and 2 radiators with ends removed. There were at most 50 short hex head screws in the siding and was told that it was dirty aluminum which I assumed(well out of me not them)was $.30 a pound. I receive my ticket and notice that it said tin. I go to the window and was told it's $110/ton. I stated my claim and was told rudely dirty is dirty. I have no recourse at this time. I would have taken out the few screws if it was a matter of $125 dollars. I figured that the difference of $.40 for clean and the $.30 for dirty was $50 but the $27.50 I ultimately received was a $122.50 difference and I feel ripped off by there unethical business practices. I occasionally scrap metal in Chicago and have never felt swindled by anything other then the current market value. I understand that they must feel underminded considering China's demand and how contracts are contrived, but it is what it is and that's the business they are in and by no means should the polarity be on us, the unaware customer getting swindled. Also having read this review PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE understand that these reviews are needed for accountability. I feel the ratings for this place have been equally unbalanced in there favor due to ridiculous rave reviews for otter pops for kids. I'm guessing the mother dropping off crushed cans while running errands with her children has little to no conception of the manipulation accruing. Although it is a very nice gesture they are children and should be top priority and treated as such, but that respect and curtsy should be extended to all customers. Proceed with extreme caution. Hopefully knowing the possibilities is half of your battle and my experience wasn't SCRAPPED. read more

After waiting for almost 30 minutes in line with scrap copper from a home improvement project they wanted to see ID. I showed it. Then they wanted to hold my old faucets and misc bathroom and kitchen for 3 days. These guys are class a screw ups. I watched as other people weighed their stuff and left. Honestly, this place used to be great. The last two times I've been, I've gotten burned. Going price for #1 steel which is what i brought is going for 223/ton. They gave me 80/ton. After calling a few other facilities they told me average going is 200/ton. I asked the cashier and manager to fix this and they refused. We will not be visiting this facility going forward. Too much hassle for such little pay out. American Recycling in Grand Terrace will have my business as THEY were TRULY the top dogs. read more

Took my aluminium cans in plastic garbage bags and before I realized they loaded my bags onto a big city like garbage can and then minused an 80lbs for the garbage can they use. When I asked that they load and weight my cans inside the plastic bag they refused. This place is a rip off. read more

He was very personable and professional and made this whole car junking process painless and I actually enjoyed the process, haha. I have gone to the SA facility off Rose Avenue in Oxnard several times and each time I was hustled. The guy at the scales doesn't know tin from steel. Or at least he pretends not to. Today I had a refrigerator (tin), steel rods, bed frames, brake rotors etc. He told me the only "real" steel I had was the bed frames. I told him I would weigh, unload the tin, reweigh for the steel. His response was that he wanted me to save myself the trouble of two trips and he would give me an "extra" $10.00 per ton. I left! I am going back to the other S and A's this one sucks! I have been dealing with them for years and never had a problem. I do this for a living and know when I am being hustled. This doesn't seem like an S and A facility. read more
