I went out with my friends that night and my trial hair and make-up looked fabulous all night - ALL night - despite being at the yacht club with the crazy wind and spray. She was easy to correspond with from across the country and was extremely professional. I just got married this past weekend and had Susie and an assistant do our hair and makeup for myself, my bridesmaids, and the mothers. In so many words, she was amazing -- but let's start from the beginning. I went to Susie after a traumatic experience with another makeup artist that partially shaved off both my eyebrows. I walked away with a really good feeling. A couple weeks go by, and the mother requests that I get an up-do. Since I live in LA, I was able to arrange a time with Susie when she was training her team down here, and she did another hair trial with an up-do for me. Each time during the trials, she was patient, understanding, sympathetic (to my partial eyebrows), and very, very personable. She listens to what YOU need and want as a bride and is very willing to change and modify per your requests. It also helps that she keeps things light-hearted; she's very easy to talk to and is sharp and disarming. The day-of the wedding, her and her assistant were very punctual; setup took only a couple of minutes and they were off and running. Susie took care of everyone's hair, while her assistant took care of makeup; the both of them finished 1hr ahead of schedule. When it got down to doing my hair and makeup, Susie spent a good 2 hrs making sure I was completely happy with what she was doing - we actually veered away from what she'd done in the trials, which was to make it more dramatic; at that point, I put my trust in her completely and it totally paid off - guests were saying how beautifully she had done my hair and makeup (not just to suck up!). I wish it was possible to give more than 5 stars!! From the first email inquiry through to our wedding day, Susie was professional, sweet, fun, and a joy to work with! My husband and I got married at SF City Hall at the beginning of March. While we didn't do a traditional big ceremony and reception, we did do it up right, with the dress, flowers, photographer, etc. I knew that I wanted to look my best, and I 100% chose right with Susie. I was an extreme procrastinator when it came to my wedding. Weeks before my wedding, it finally hit me...I had to find someone to do our hair and makeup. I met with one of her makeup artists in Los Angeles for my wedding trial and she did a great job. It was a good deal for a $150 trial. She worked with me and we got my hair and makeup the way I envisioned it. I noticed She used a bunch of designer makeup but day of our wedding I noticed that all of the designer makeup I thought I would get at least since I'm the bride was gone.. Day of our wedding she brought 2 other girls with her since I had a group of 10 people doing mostly hair and makeup. We had a slight hiccup with one of my guests not showing and in the end we had to pay for her slot which I totally understand as It wasn't their fault my guest didn't take it seriously. All of my bridesmaids hair and makeup was gorgeous!! At the end I was gathering all of the cash from each person and each person tipped as much as they could for their wallet. The lead girl who I did my trial with came up to me and told me that this extra cash isn't enough of a tip for all 3 of them. This was the am of our wedding and I didn't know how to respond. Tips/gratuity is always OPTIONAL and each girl gave what they could. I had already paid a travel fee for them and I didn't like being put on the spot and responsible for others tips. I found her on yelp and after reading through reviews decided to give her a try. Although it was last minute she was able to accommodate me and was very easy to work with. Vee came for a trial and I was a bit disappointed because the way my hair and makeup turned out wasn't as I had hoped. (Part of this was that style translation - when I thought I wanted glamorous, I really wanted a more natural and brighter version of glam). But Vee was very receptive to adjusting things and had ideas for what we could do differently. by the time of the big day, she was on time, she had kept track of everything we had discussed, and both my hair and my makeup exceeded my expectations. First, I went through Susie to book one of her girls to do my engagement shoot hair/makeup in LA, and Susie was super responsive and booked me an appointment quickly on relatively short notice. It turned out amazing! I booked Susie herself to do my wedding in Napa - I did not have a good idea of what I wanted for my wedding hair and makeup, but I knew I didn't want something too traditionally bridal. Susie did an amazing job working with me to find the look that I wanted and that felt like me. Susie is was super patient, fun, nice, and has a ton of experience - during the bridal trial she took photos of each look on her fancy camera so I could get an immediate sense for how the hair/makeup would show up in photos. Super helpful!!! The day of the wedding, Susie showed up about 5 mins early and started setting up. She had a great sense for timing and kept everything on track. She did amazing hair/makeup on my bridesmaids, and both moms had never had makeup professionally done (and normally wear very light makeup) and both moms loved the makeup!!! My husband and I were married in San Francisco, CA on April 8th and Susie did my hair and makeup (as well as my mom's makeup). We fell in love with San Francisco and knew the city was the perfect backdrop for our nuptials BUT we didn't realize how anxious I would be planning all of the details back in Chicago and not having the opportunity to meet vendors face to face before the big day. Pre-Event Planning Correspondence: After diligent research, I reached out to Susie to inquire about hair/makeup and I am so happy I did. She immediately put me at ease with her professionalism, quick responses, and keen attention to every detail. Once we had the date reserved, she even sent a questionnaire to really understand the concept I had for the big day. My mom has never had her hair makeup done professionally and she LOVED IT! I'm not gonna lie, I did not give Susie a clear "vision" of what I wanted to look like. Mostly because I really had no specific idea; just a general picture in my mind. My inspirational pictures were a bit all over the place so Susie took the time to review what I liked about certain pictures or why I picked something before she started. My general concept was fresh makeup (not overdone) and a soft up-do that could hold up to wind but not look like a helmet. Susie took my "inspiration", the answers to her targeted questions, and created a masterpiece. Seriously, she is an artist! With little specifics, Susie managed to give me the exact hair and makeup I was picturing in my mind. A few times she asked if there was anything that I would like to change and I honestly could not come up with one little tweak; it was absolutely perfect. I knew that when I did my trial with her, I had to book her and keep her as my makeup artist for my wedding. Susie actually arrived early at 7:15 AM (scheduled was 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM). She was very relaxed and began right away. I am truly amazed by her technique as when she put makeup on my face, it felt very light and like I didn't even have any makeup on. With my wedding starting from 8:30 AM (makeup finished at 8:30 AM) and ending at 2 AM with a 1100 person wedding, my makeup lasted ALL day and looked flawless. This review is just for my makeup trial - I met Susie at her studio in Daly City and she totally understood what I asked for - I asked for a less structured updo and showed her my photos on my Pinterest board. As far as makeup, I wanted it natural but with the fake eyelashes to glam it up a bit. And Susie totally delivered. I LOVED the hair she did - it was curled and to the side and the makeup was great. Sweet, professional, and highly skilled! Susie gave me falsies that didn't poke me in the eyes or droop all night. She also listens well and adjusts to your comfort level without being pushy at all.
