Virginia is a lifesaver! I realized on a Saturday that I had forgot to order a lei for my daughter's graduation on Weds. I found her company on Etsy and a phone number to call. She answered and told me to go on the website and place the order she would get it ready and ship it out overnight on Monday for Tuesday delivery. I knew that I wanted my husband's tux to be navy blue, so I picked colors that I loved for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to wear based on that. From there, it dictated the colors I wanted my flowers to be as well as the colors for my decorations. Planning a wedding requires a lot of imagination. You're picking flowers, chairs, decorations, linen... etc etc to all go together without ever seeing them together until the day of. Flowers are no different. I picked the colors and types of ribbons and lace for the bouquets, the boutonnieres, the corsages, the flower girls' baskets and halos. Lucky for me and thanks to Virginia, my flowers were absolutely gorgeous! They were better than anything I could have imagined. See my pictures posted. Virginia is very experienced and knows her flowers well. When I met with her the first time, she pointed out many factors I had to consider when picking out my flowers - whether they were seasonal, their cost, how fragile they are to temperature and light etc. I really appreciated this information since I'd never done this type of planning before. Virginia does have very strong opinions, so I needed some reminders from my husband that it was my wedding, and the final decisions were up to me. The one big hiccup I had working with Virginia was lack of organization. After our initial meeting, she sent me the proposal, which had missing and incorrect information. It wasn't until after many correspondences and over 2 months later before the proposal was close to correct. In fairness, I did change my mind about the number of vases I needed etc, but each time I emailed her my update, I would receive an "updated proposal" that appeared to be an even older version of the proposal. It turns out that she would update the wrong versions of the proposal. From these encounters, I was very concerned about how she would keep my details straight for the actual wedding day. During graduation and prom seasons, rest assure that they can also take care of your needs. S&V also has a tuxedo rental service. We rented tuxes there for the groom, groomsmen and my grandfather. They have more options than Men's Warehouse and better selection of styles. They prices are also very reasonable. We were very happy with how the tuxes/suits looked on everyone. The tailoring was perfect as well. When you go to the Men's Warehouse, they only tailor the length for the suits, which isn't necessarily the best fit for every body type. At S&V, they have the suits tailored completely, so all the guys had polished looks. This is especially important if you're looking for that fitted look. S&V also had many many more color swatches than Men's Warehouse, so if you have a specific color(s) for your wedding, it's better to have more color options. In the end, S&V delivered everything as promised for our wedding! The flowers were beautiful! My bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets were so lovely!! Virginia ordered the peonies from Alaska and I was really wowed by how they looked. We also ordered boutineers and corsages for our parents and grandparents. All the florals were just so lovely! S&V also provided chair covers, backdrop and isle runner for our ceremony. Everything looked great! They also made all 15 centerpieces and decorated our sweatheart table and all the draping for the ballroom for our reception. I was looking for a florist to do my wedding and Virginia was recommended to me by a friend. Her prices are much lower than other florists I met with. She has a large collection of photos from her previous work. You must make an appt with her because she's not always in the store.I was very pleased with our first meeting. She was helpful with selecting which flowers to use. She also wrote up a proposal and made up a package deal for what I needed. The price was a lot lower than a quote I received from another vendor. Virginia only asks for a small deposit to hold the date for you. My first gripe was when she flaked on one of our meetings. She was supposed to have a sample of the centerpiece ready for me, but she didn't show up at the store that day. Her worker called her and I got a bullshit answer about why she couldn't make it. I left feeling pissed off and disappointed. The second thing that bugged me was when she kept asking me what time I was going to pick up the flowers, what time she could set up, etc. I had clearly given her all the information already, and it was even typed up on paper by her. She kept trying to change the times on me, and it was freakin annoying. She does not like to apologize and puts words into my mouth, like "Oh, but you said...." The final mistake happened the day before my wedding. I ordered a Hello Kitty car decoration from her, but when my fiance picked it up, she had given him a Little Twin Star one. WTF? I was so pissed off and could not believe she messed up on something so simple. I had to call her and tell her she messed up. Instead of apologizing, she said, "You said you wanted Little Twin Star." My email clearly stated HK. Holy shit, I was pissed off. She made us a new one, but we had to drive all the way back down to her store. I had to bitch her out on our way down and told her how irritated and disappointed I was in her and how she is so assuming. Luckily things went well on our big day. The flowers looked pretty good. Here's why: Virginia is (1) patient; (2) has a keen eye; and (3) has the bride's best interest in mind. 1) Patient - Virginia did not complain and re-did our quote every time we decided to make changes to our decorations. We must have changed our package over a hand full of times (i.e. adding/ removing chair covers, and ridding of a candy bar). Not only that, my parents on their own accord went to Virginia to bicker about how to redecorate our wedding to their own personal taste. 2) Keen eye - Virginia has the "je ne sais quoi" for details and colors. She spent a decent amount of time helping me match my ribbons and flowers colors. She even coordinated my cake flowers with my cake cutting dress. Every petal was placed perfectly all over our venues. 3) Bride's best interest - Against Virginia's own interest, she gave us many money saving tips. What kind of wedding planner would do that?! She told us to use bubble guns in lieu of flowers for the flower girls, and even let us borrow (i.e. gratis) extra chair stashes for the ceremony. I would list more of her expertise here, but I do not want to give away all her trade secrets. ;) End of day, despite going back and forth, we basically ordered her entire package.
