We paid him for the parts he would need. He ordered the parts for my uncle's 1994 vehicle right there in front of him. He texted me to keep me aware of the status of the parts delivery. When the parts arrived, Joe came out the same day and fixed my uncle's vehicle right there in his driveway. Baja Motors had destroyed the car's parts (while doing a TUNE UP!), then couldn't fix it. Joe got the car running in less than 90 minutes from start to finish. He also installed all new parts and reran wires that they had cut off (?) near the distributor. If you have a car that is stalled on the roadway somewhere or that you can't get into a shop because it won't start, CALL JOE at 775-600-7746! He is also the nicest guy you will meet. I rarely write up reviews online but feel it's necessary here....My adult son was on a travel job…read morein Elko for a few weeks and needed repairs on his truck before he drove several states home, including replacement of a wheel bearing and CV axle. Clack was recommended, seemed reputable, and was listed as a preferred AAA vendor. Alhough my son was pretty sure he knew what was wrong, Clack ran diagnostics - which I understand. My son told them he'd get his paycheck at the end of the week and would have me call to front the cost of repairs. John told me cost estimates over the phone. I asked him to send me a written estimate and gave him my email address. I also paid for the diagnostic ($95). A few days later, I hadn't received the written estimate. When I called John, he insisted he had sent it. I double-checked and confirmed they definitely had not sent it. So he finally sent the estimate by email ($1,640). I also advised him that when the repairs are done we might put some or all of the charge on my son's card if he was paid by then. I was quite astonished when John then insisted they needed full payment up front for the entire work - before they did any repairs at all! When I asked him why, he basically said they've had problems in the past when a vehicle owner didn't pay after work was done, with the vehicle ending up sitting there for months. I said I wasn't comfortable paying for work that wasn't even started yet. John curtly replied, "you obviously don't know the industry." I told him I've had car repairs done for several decades and never, EVER had been asked to pay for repairs - let alone the entire cost of repair - before any work was done. But still, I offered to pay up front for the parts to start the work, or a deposit. But he insisted no work would be done without full payment up front. Needless to say, not a good sign. So I spent time out of my busy day researching other shops in Elko, since my son needed to come home. Fortunately, I came across His & Hers Automotive, right near Clack. The gal was very nice but said they couldn't get to the repairs until the next week. I asked her about other shops and she told me they sometimes send their overflow work - as well as their own personal cars - to Caveman Tires & Wheels for uncomplicated repairs like what we had here. Then I called Caveman and spoke with Jose. He said they can probably do the repairs the very next day. He seemed very accommodating and I had a good feeling about it. Then he gave me an estimate that was only slightly more than half of the cost that Clack demanded up front. My son was skeptical at first, saying he heard Clack was the place to go in town. But it turned out Caveman did the work for the quoted price, and my son got to leave Elko that next day, driving 20 hours home. So, I can't speak to the quality of work by Clack - let's assume it's fine. But why would a customer pay a lot more than necessary, plus risk paying entirely up front before knowing the repair work was done properly? Oh, and despite asking several times, I never got a copy of the diagnostic/inspection report! (If they end up sending it, I'll update my review.) Finally, I saw one other review for Clack from several years ago, from a woman whose story seemed a bit extreme but, interestingly, some key points rang true - as John also told her she'd have to "pay the full bill in advance" and apparently Clack "did not trust me to pay the bill." Seems like a pattern here that's continued for years?!

Owner/Mechanic tried to fight me over asking questions of the work done to my car…read moreI took my car in for for an oil leak and a tire replacement. They charged me just shy of $2000!. For an oil housing unit that sits right on top of the engine and replacing one tire that I brought along with the car. Car had no dash lights and or wierd noises at drop off. At pick up it had brake sensor codes on the dash and there was a suction noise and tick coming from the top of the engine where they had replaced the oil housing. I asked them how they checked the oil level as my car doesn't have an oil stick option and they were not able to answer my question instead the owner/mechanic said I better leave because he could be a lot more disrespectful and I responded that's alright we both can be a lot more disrespectful but I'm here as a customer to find out about the work done to my car he then stated I should leave or I was going to be missing teeth I laughed and he then challenged me to go outside and fight! We stepped outside and turns out he had no true intentions to back up what he was saying. Completely unprofessional and would not recommend this shop ever! I wish I could post the video on here as I recorded the whole interaction with this horrible company.

We had the Jeep towed from the Thomas Canyon Campground to the Grease Monkey in Elko, NV. They were the only shop (we contacted three other shops in the Elko, NV area) that could assist that day and they are open on Saturdays. The mechanic immediately diagnosed the codes, ordered the parts, recommended a wonderful restaurant, told my son if he returned at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning he would be given priority service when the part arrived. The part arrived early Saturday morning, the mechanic got it installed, ran an add'l diagnostic test, manager took the Jeep out on the highway to make sure all was running correctly and the costs was under what we would have paid in Kansas City, Missouri. My son was on his was by noon Saturday. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!!!

We left a note explaining that oil was leaking from the car and it was emitting smoke, emphasizing the urgency of the issue. When we arrived at the dealership the next morning, DANIEL at the service greeted us and seemed to mockingly inform us that none of their technicians were available to inspect the car. He also mentioned that the engine might be beyond repair due to the extensive oil leakage and casually offered to buy the car for a mere $4,500, almost jokingly. (Btw the car is dodge ram srt 10 with the viper engine) :))))))) Undeterred, we searched for a mechanic online and discovered Grease Monkey, which had received excellent reviews in Elko. Despite Daniel's discouragement, we decided to give Grease Monkey a chance. Fortunately, Brady from Grease Monkey went out of his way to come to the Dodge dealership to assess our vehicle. Following his inspection, we had our car towed to Grease Monkey, and we had an excellent experience with them. In stark contrast to our disappointing encounter at ELKO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, Grease Monkey delivered exceptional service. They prioritize quality service over profit, making them a highly recommended choice for car repairs. Finally, I really wanna mention this to Daniel, I hope one day you learn that you are not supposed to mock a costumer especially when they are need of your help by offering to buy their car for cheap because it broke down.
