I would recommend Baker Builders to friends, as it is unusual to find contractors who do what they say they will do on time and an budget. I was particularly impressed with their ability to finish our project on time. They even finished ahead of schedule. When has that ever happened on a project? This was the first for me. All of their subcontractors were professional and efficient. It has been over 6 months since they completed the work, and we have had zero problems. At the beginning of the project I was hesitant to spend the money on a contractor, but I am so glad I did. Travis did an excellent job of managing the project. There is no way a random homeowner like me would be able to queue up subcontractors and keep a project running so smoothly. From start to finish, the entire project was done in about 6 weeks. Had I attempted to do this on my own, it would have been more like 18 months. The also handled all of the permits and inspections smoothly. Old West Construction just wrapped up our basement and we couldn't be happier with it. Right from…read morethe start, we had a good feeling about working with Armando as they took the time to really think about our basement, and listen to what we wanted from the space, and to then draw up multiple options for us to look at. They put together an estimate and then contract that were both clear and gave us a good understanding of what we were looking at from a cost standpoint, including the places where its common to upgrade and where that could impact the price along the way. We had to wait a few weeks for the job to start since they were already working on another job, but Armando was always very communicative about how that project was going and the expected start date. After we got started everything was very smooth and we were kept in the loop all along the way. They had a port-a-potty on site and went in and out through the basement window so we only saw them when there were questions, or when there were large items they needed to bring in down the stairs like the drywall, granite, etc. We've worked with some companies where the "sales" person you see at the beginning is never seen or heard from again, but Armando was there, on-site and on the phone with us the whole time. There were a few things that were sub-contracted, but it was clear that Armando was the one running the job, and worked with us directly throughout the entire project. Along the way, a number of choices came up and Old West Construction was very helpful in providing us with options, including additions to the original scope of work (we ended up using them to replace our 20 year old furnace and AC as a part of the project, decided to add extra soundproofing, etc). They were never pushy but still willing to make recommendations when we wanted one, which was very helpful. It's easy to be happy with the company you picked when everything is going great, but the real sign of a great company is how they are when things go sideways. We ended up changing direction on a fireplace addition after getting pretty close to picking one out, and Armando and team had no problem reacting to our change of heart. Later in the project, we noticed that a stain color was wrong, and they immediately confirmed that it was the wrong color, and sanded, and re-stained everything the next day, no further questions or discussion needed. The quality of the basement is fantastic throughout, from a custom sump-pump knock out, to a custom wood wrap covering a steel beam, to the bedrooms and bathroom and everything else. Every detail is perfect. Aside from the house itself, this was our single biggest purchase / projects ever, and we could not be any happier that we chose to go with Old West Construction. If you're considering finishing or remodeling your basement, do yourself a favor, and go with Armando and Old West Construction, you'll be glad you did.

Jeff and his son framed in an HVAC duct run and patched several cutouts in the ceiling and walls; they dry walled and textured the areas. We opted to do our own finish painting to save a few dollars. I contacted Jeff through Angies List, he came out the next week to give us an estimate. We agreed on his contract and he was able to fit our job in within 3 weeks. The project was completed on time and on budget, it looks great and blends right in with the surrounding areas. We are very happy with the time and quality of the work and are so pleased to have our house back together again. We would not hesitate to call Jeff again.
