We got a table straight away even though it was quite busy when we arrived. We only had two menus between four people so it was a bit awkward. They have some awesome meals up on the specials board too, so check it out. You need to order at the counter. The staff lady was very helpful and was able to answer all the questions we had. This made it very easy for us to make up our minds on what we wanted to get. The food came out in good time. The wife got a chicken melt with a side of fries. I got the fish (flat head), chips and salad. The wife loved the chicken melt. It came with avocado and sliced tomato. Very filling, very fresh. Did not disappoint in the slightest. My fish and chips were terrific. The fries was cooked to exactly how I like it - hot fluffy potato on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. The battered flat head was amazing, crunchy batter and moist fresh fish inside. This was one of the few times I enjoyed my salad. Tartar was a little runny but tasted great. We had a cappuccino and chai latte. The drinks are big by Australian standards. My chai latte was silky smooth with a rich spicy taste. I'd happily come back here again as the cooks know what they are doing and are very proud of their work. Very chill, very cool. Five out of five!

Grilled Haloumi on sourdough smothered with pesto. Also had some avo, & blisters cherry tomatoes. It hit the spot!!! Just be warned that the Large coffee IS large. A bit like a mini bucket! Good, but big! Will make sure I pop back next time I'm looking for eats in the centre.

While there was no single origin coffee on offer, the mac I had was surprisingly good. Character notes other than chocolate and nuts are rare in blends from the larger roasters, but this one managed to avoid the over roasted taint, and still retain a nice blend of sweetness and acidity. Obviously I would prefer a black coffee option like a single origin coffee, but this cafe is finally a viable option in Wahroonga. Passion: 7/10 Crema: 7/10 Coffee: Gabriel

In all honesty I prefer the Butcher's Block - but this cafe does come at a close second. The coffee here is from Gabriel's. And sadly no single origin beans are on offer. The brew a nice cup either way. But I think the pull here is not the coffee, but rather the food. The food here is a good - I've only come for breakfast. They generally don't do any take away food, so this is more of a sit down place. The beacon, egg and avo toast is good, and the homemade oats are really good. Just a warning this place is small, and most of the times the tables are reserved. So either reserve before hand or be prepared to wait for a table. The staff here are friendly, and constantly apologize to you if you are waiting. So even though not as good as the Butcher's Block, it is still worth a visit.

This Korean-run café has interesting interior design choices, and also a back courtyard for outdoor seating. However, it does seem this back section is somewhat neglected as there were dead cockroaches lying around... Anyway, the green tea latte was pretty good and not typically sweet so that was a plus. Comes out in a relatively good sized mug with cute latte art. The salad sandwich was very tasty also. Yes, it is just a sandwich but it was a good mix of fresh ingredients that made a delicious combo. Was only after a light meal and this did the trick.

Thank you also, Bee's Knees for pricing your menu reasonably! Not being in a Westfield has definitely its advantages. Menu items are between $13 and $20+. Small coffee $3.50, large $4. And they're good! The menu is somewhat limited, but that's really ok - unless you've come for some smashed avocado on sourdough (one of those staples every hipster joint MUST have these days). Sitting in the lounge chairs or the court yard is inviting. What I don't really like is the vintage (or should I write "vintage") stuff. There's quite a bit of that around. In fact there are so many vintage items, you could be forgiven to think that you've stepped into a second hand shop. The mix of vintage fashion and café is pleasing to a degree but what bothers me a bit is that there are so many hipster cafés around doing this that this mix seems worn or at least overused. In addition, I doubt that all the items are in fact vintage, or just made to look like they are old or were recycled. A lot of cafés do this. It's pretentious and doesn't have the effect that actual recycling has. Don't get me wrong it's a good place for a sip and bite, but don't pay $74 for a "vintage" mirror.

This is a very friendly family-run cafe with seating outside and in. I had scrambled eggs with sourdough toast and grilled tomatoes. I've had the same dish at other places, but this is my favorite because the toast wasn't over toasted to a crispy critter. The eggs were fluffy and a grilled tomato for breakfast really hits the spot. Another time when I came here, I had a perfectly poached egg and a delicious scone with jam and cream. I love the way scones in Australia are more like a tender biscuit rather than the hard triangle that passes for a scone in the States. With the jam, the whipped cream is just a bonus. Also, poached eggs are common, a healthier way to eat an egg. It's a bit out of the way towards the end of the outdoor mall, but we'll worth seeking out.

While most of…read morethe other cafes seem to be reliant on the mass produced, generic coffee, these guys have always been one step ahead. Back in the days before Toby's Estate became more mainstream, these guys had it as their go-to bean. Now that Toby's is more focused on mass production, Thyme Square has switched to Jack and the Bean coffee (another great option). As you know, having a good supply of coffee beans is only the first step in the production of an awesome cup of coffee, but I am happy to say that this cafe does a very decent job banging out cup after cup of great coffee. It must be mentioned that this cafe is also focused on having a wide range of food options [breakfast/lunch/dinner] (which are a tad pricey but compared to other options in Hornsby, might be worth it). As it has been a while since I have eaten here I will leave it to others to tell you what they think. When I was eating here though the standard was quite high. Sure there are a couple of cafes that make a passable coffee, but I am more likely to drive 30min south to find something enjoyable. So you can imagine how happy I was a couple of months ago to find a cafe in Hornsby that is roasting their own beans. While the first couple of months has seen a refining of the blend of beans, now the mix is much more to my liking (not overly dark). Better still, one the occasion (like today) they are even starting to offer single origin coffees. Today I had a Brazilian single origin from the Dattera Estate which (after getting the espresso shot pulled over a small dash of hot water) opened up brilliantly. While straight up the espresso had a tinge of something dark in the after taste, with the water it was smooth and a little floral. Very enjoyable. So while I will still travel far and wide for a great cup of coffee, it is great to know that I have at least on cafe I can count on closer to home. N.B.
