One for our home and one for our generator. A couple days later they filled the tank. They informed us that they would not be able to make connections to the house or generator until November 13 as they had a full schedule. Today November 13. They show up and hook the propane to the house but did not connect the generator. I called the office to find out what was happening as they knew that they ran 2 lines. The office informs me that they needed to get a couple parts and the soonest they could return was mid January. Needless to say. We will be getting a new propane company that is competent I don't recommend Dead River to anyone that has to deal with the Bristol NH office.

We are NYer's for now, but are going to be spending 1/2 of our time in the home we purchased last week in Wolfeboro. Today is Tuesday and we moved in Friday. This home has a very complex mixed system (radiant and baseboard) with 5 zones, old parts cobbled together by the builder, etc. It is a potential nightmare. First, I called the office and spoke with Jody and set up an account. She was awesome and helpful. I explained to her that I was concerned about the heating system and needed some help understanding it. She said "you need Troy, I spoke with him and he knows that system". Today, I meet Troy Glidden. He had called me a few times and he said he'd be able to stop by and walk me through things. So Troy just left, and what a top notch guy. He spent 30-45 minutes walking me through things, and I have a feeling that since the system is going to need some attention - that we are going to get to know each other well. He is a thoughtful, nice guy and he knows his stuff. He's going to be back to do a tune up and we will be addressing some issues with things here as we go. Troy is very impressive. Oh, and for today, no charge...he came out because I was a new customer and he knows the system. That doesn't happen in New York.

So after three weeks waiting I called and asked what was going on. I was told the material would be delivered be in 5-14-2026 and delivered the next day 5-15-2026. Well the date came and went and still no materials delivered. No phone call, no delivery. This company will just take your money and leave you hanging then blame their distributors. Their problem is now yours, and you get to pay for it ! I will never trust this company again !

The person,(I'm sorry I forget his name) was very helpful and worked with me trying different options by piecing pipe and flanges together to get to what I needed. Probably spent 1/2 hour with me trying to figure something out. We subsequently installed split heat pumps by another company, and was told it was totally fine. We just received a notice from Stafford that says "due to safety issues with the heating appliance, we regret to inform you that we will no longer deliver product to any tank". Like the other reviews, they say they "consider each of our 8,000 customers a friend and neighbor." Totally false. To cut us off right before Christmas after ZERO notice of issues in prior inspections is morally and probably legally irrepressible. Do not use them. How they have stayed in business this long I do not know. Stafford Oil, do not worry about being notified when repairs or replacement have been completed. You should be more worried about receiving a legal notice than a call.

I have had 2 service appoinments with them and on both occasions, I have had to contact them to verify if and when a technician would be coming to service my appliance. Stay away from this company there management and communication is a mess and thus customer service is horrible. On a positive note I thought there on site service and delivery team are great. Here is my story. I came over from Fred Fuller when Rymes took over, and at the beginning of each winter season, I sign up for the season and sign a contract. Before the season starts we top off. So I called to do so, and they said you cant do that because it was already in the contract time frame. I asked for them to be flexible and explained that my sign up was based off this top off. Owen there manager said dont count on it, but I will ask. The next day the truck shows up and we are left a bill which is about $140 less than contract, and I think, good job owen and pay it. A few weeks go by and I get an invoice for late fees. I call and talk with Owen, he says he will get back to me wait a week. I call him a week later and leave a message, tehn another message and then a week later he is on vacation, I call him a week later and leave a message and then another message. I then get another bill for more finance charges via email and send a response explaining my issue. We get another fill up and I pay the bill, excluding what I consider an over charge. We have a small issue with the furnace and they come out and fix it, I get email invoice and pay it again minus this overcharge and email customer service asking where we are at with this. I get an response saying they are working on it. A few weeks go by and we run out of oil(last week) I call customer service and they say, no oil unless you pay that balance, when I explain they say pay or no oil. When I say why would you not send me something about me being put on hold, I pretty much get sorry but no oil. I tell them I dont think you can shut heat off in the winter, but they reiterate no pay no oil. So I am forced to pay it, and then they say I have to pay an additional $85 for emergency delivery. Again I say I have a contract with you and it is your responsibility to keep furnished with oil. Again no pay no oil. I sent an email back to my email contact and am told Owen would call me today and never got a message.

1 star is too many stars -- Five years of frozen regulators, water in my then brand new tank, and…read moreno accountability I've been a customer of Rymes/Superior Propane since 2018, and I can say without hesitation: do not use this company if you have any other option. Since May 2021, I have dealt with six separate frozen regulator failures at my property -- a recurring problem that multiple Rymes/Superior employees and my independent licensed plumber all attributed to the same root cause: water in the lines/tank. 5/24/21 -- Regulator failure; entire house smelled of propane. 2/04/23 -- Frozen regulator, pipes froze. Cost me $1,100 out of pocket. 2/18/23 -- Froze again two weeks later. 11/29/23 -- Froze again after a delivery. Cost me $250 out of pocket. Was told to have handyman insulate the regulator because Rymes wouldn't fix the actual problem. 12/14/24 -- Froze again. 12/06/25 -- Froze again, with the tank at just 18% and no automatic delivery triggered -- a failure of their own delivery system. This spring, they drained the propane in my tank (poof, in the air) and it was confirmed that there was water in my underground tank. They finally replaced the tank this month. To add insult to injury, in the process caused $4,498 in damage to my driveway (their insurance did cover this, to their credit). Beyond these failures, customer service has been consistently abysmal. I once spent 2 hours and 16 minutes on hold just trying to reach a live person about an active freeze up. In addition, I am currently paying $0.92 more per gallon than their competitor charges. In total: over $33,623 spent with this company, $1,600 in additional costs directly caused by their negligence, five years of stress, and property damage. If you're considering Rymes/Superior Propane, look elsewhere!
