What was supposed to take 8-10 weeks took a bit longer - due to COVID, our fabric was back-ordered. Eric sent us occasional updates while we waited. It arrived mid-October and we scheduled the install right before Veterans Day. The A Team comprised of Eric, Mike and Steve arrived, worked like a well-oiled machine, and in no time at all our new awning was up and running. They seemed to be professional or so we thought. Not quite a year later our awnings failed. It was very clear that they were not installed properly, we also had damage to the siding of our home. Although concerned we were shocked to be treated in such a disrespectful and rude manner. They actually refused to stand behind their work and tried to get additional funds from us. These awnings are expensive, were reported to be some of the best in the area. Our advice is to look elsewhere... they have the sale psychology down... how they stand behind their product and installation including the materials they use. Don't fall for it. Other installations near us have encountered the same experience. Poor installation practice and failures... only to be treated in a disrespectful manner with an outrageous estimate to fix the issue... And we thought they could be trusted and stood behind their work. They sadly do not... it is how they choose to do business. You will notice a 5 star review which is not accurate ... ours sadly is. He also demanded payment in full, prior to ordering. His wife called me two days prior to what he claimed was a factory price increase and instructed me to ZELLE funds to his account. I did so, but ZELLE would not do an immediate transfer (two days). The bank provided him with legitimate confirmation of payment codes for proof of payment. He refused to accept them. At the end of our telephone conversation, he began to swear at me profusely and wanted a 100% money wire to cover payment. In the end, his poor behavior showed his true colors as a shady business man.

First, they gave me a business card which had a different company name than what Thumbtack has listed, and it had a different phone number. Name of the guy on Thumbtack who was supposed to visit was Elmer. The guy who showed up was Edvin with a business card having a different company name and a different phone number and he had very limited language skills. So there was something fishy going on. Second, there was a large trailer attached to his truck that had a lawn mower, a blower, various tools for basic gardening and yard work. He didn't even have a proper measuring tool to measure a surface lot with. He only had a basic measuring tape that you'd use to measure a cupboard. There was every indication that these guys were a "mow and blow" crew and didn't know much else.

Rod Ladman's install was done in January 2017, it is now almost December 2017. Why I waited so long? Because I rarely write reviews. I read them a lot but I don't have time and frankly interest to write them, there's enough people out there willing to do that... I used to own and manage a successful small business chain for 28 years. I'm picky, very picky, and in this often fake world of promises (advertising $$...) the truly good people MUST be rewarded. That's why I'm writing this review. We had Rod design and install powered shades on 13 windows and doors of ours overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. Some of them were panoramic as big as 13 x 9 ft, some as short as 12 inch window transoms. He opted to do programmable remote controls, see-through 95% UV protective views, the whole 9 yards, something which in NO WAY I COULD DO MYSELF and I had thought of my handyman skills quite highly with 30+ years of doing a lot of installations myself. The outcome of what Rod did not just surprised me and my wife it but took our breath away. Again, we are picky... Rod Ladman's DESIGN: 10 out of 10 (he talked to us in depth to understand what we wanted). A thoughtful man, detailed. He brought up all the technicalities and real life consequences. Wow. PRODUCT QUALITY: the shades are 21st century. Stunning. And probably forever as far as durability. Extremely sturdy, UV resistant and well made. SUPPORT: I just had an issue with a battery of one of the 13 units, almost a year later. Rod's associate called me and said that they're coming to replace the entire motor/battery module. At no charge. I highly and unequivocally recommend Rod Ladman's Window Design to anyone who wants their windows or awnings to be awesome, elegant and 21 century, and I don't say it lightly.
