Owner is a poor business man. Be ware! Was very demanding regarding payment for awning in full and then leaving it unattended at a loading dock for me to pick up by myself. He also demanded payment in full, prior to ordering. His wife called me two days prior to what he claimed was a factory price increase and instructed me to ZELLE funds to his account. I did so, but ZELLE would not do an immediate transfer (two days). The bank provided him with legitimate confirmation of payment codes for proof of payment. He refused to accept them. At the end of our telephone conversation, he began to swear at me profusely and wanted a 100% money wire to cover payment. Please go to (website) and choose fabric and replacement fabric and complete the form and we will be happy to provide you a price if this awning is something we can service. We cannot service all brands." I then requested a person to person call back. TEXT REPLY: "Hello, I'm sorry but this time of year we get hundreds of fabric requests and this is the only way we can handle this service on awnings we did not install. Our customers come first before others that bought elsewhere. Mr. Awnings replaced the fabric on my retractable awning (20'x10') a few weeks ago and it was great. I recommend them. I was hesitant at first because of (1) a few reviews I saw and (2) fabric replacement is paid up front - but then I called 3 of their references and they absolutely loved them. Everyone emphasized and appreciated that they're a small, local family business. This was true because I had great text and email conversations with Paula who was very helpful. I did my own measurements and picked fabric from an online catalog that they sent me. I trusted them and paid up front so that they could order the fabric. I received a phone call about a day later confirming and fine tuning the details. They estimated 4 weeks turnaround to get the fabric but considering the craziness happening right now set the expectation that it could be longer - but sure enough 4 weeks later I got a text and they installed 2 days later. My motor-driven awning worked flawlessly but its fabric was faded and mildewed, so I paid Mr Awnings to install new fabric. Three months later Mr Awnings' technicians did so. I was out of town that day, but the next day when I tried to extend the awning, it would not move. After several tries, it extended, but then it would not retract. After several tries it retracted but it moved abnormally slowly; and then it would not extend again. Apparently the motor's protective thermostat had been cutting off power. Inspecting the awning, I saw that the fabric was cockeyed; it was not rolling straight, smoothly, straight and flat onto the aluminum roller. The fabric was severely wrinkled and its wrinkles overlapped and formed creases. The numerous overlaps bulked-up the roll so much that it jammed the awning's mechanism. I e-mailed Mr Awnings' manager Paula Salem and proprietor(?) Jay Salem. I included several photographs of the overlapping wrinkles, etc. Mr Salem said -- FALSELY and with no evidentiary basis -- that the problem was due to me having incorrectly measured the length of the awning; and he totally denied that Mr Awnings had any responsibility for the problem. My photos showed that the length of the awning was immaterial. The fabric was not straight/smooth/flat on the roller even when the awning was extended so just two turns/wraps remained on the roller. The fabric was crooked and not aligned with the awning's mechanism. Before Mr Awnings' fabric replacement I had taken a similar set of photos that showed the old fabric perfectly straight/smooth/flat on the roller at all times. I sent these photos to Mr Awnings but they were disregarded. I asked Ms Salem and then Mr Salem to send a technician and/or to come himself with a tape-measure to observe, diagnose, and to correct the problem. Neither has replied. My awning worked flawlessly before Mr Awnings' careless and incompetent installers screwed it up. Now my awning is unusable. I am seeking compensation in MA Small Claims Court; but I'm writing this review hoping to save others from harm such as I have suffered. I just had an awning installed today - it is beautiful! Mr Awning made the process so easy. Jay came to my house, helped me think through the size and placement, and Paula did the scheduling. I had to have anchors placed to attach the awning, and Jay worked with my contractor to make sure it was that he needed. Incredible service! Revising my review to four stars. I ended up writing directly to Sunesta to ensure that what Mr. Awnings was telling me regarding the missing pieces was accurate; they got back to me next day with a personal and very nice phone call to say that it was, to apologize, and to give me (and Mr. Awnings) a tracking number for the brackets we were missing. As of today, the unit is fully installed, weather shield and all. I recognize that a lot of this issue was due to COVID delays. Everyone I spoke to was very kind and apologetic for the delay. Can't give it a full 5 stars because I did wait a very long time for an install, but the people I worked with throughout the process were very good, and I am happy with the finished product. read more

Both my husband and I work full time so the only time we are available for doing an estimate is on weekends and we really appreciate that sunspaces can accommodate our inflexible schedule. Sunspaces rep showed up this morning within the agreed time frame and provided estimates with different options. I looked long and hard for Awning companies and placed a few calls. Mr. Awnings was by far the most responsive- they scheduled quickly, arrived on time, answered all my questions right away. I should add that their proposal was about 33% cheaper than the competition, with the same somfy motor system and fabric. The awning came in much earlier than anticipated. The installation team was awesome. It's exactly what we wanted. It's a strong, quality awning. We have had it for a month, we couldn't be happier with our investment. This company should be ashamed at how it practices business. I called and scheduled an appointment for an awning estimate and was able to get an appointment in the next couple days. We were given a thirty minute time window for arrival. Once the 30 minutes passed, we received a phone call that they would be 30 minutes late at most. Annoying, but I'm reasonable and understand companies are busy. 40 minutes later, I called the office asking where they were. I was told they couldn't find my house although it is on main street and easily located (no one has ever had a problem finding it). The driver was supposed to call for directions, however, I received a call from the office again 5 minutes later that because they couldn't locate my home, they had already proceeded to their next appointment, skipping us. After sitting around for almost an hour and a half, they didn't even show up. They took time away from my family and I would recommend using somebody else. Our situation required a custom installation to accommodate our building design. Jay came up with a solution requiring the fabrication of a 13 foot rigid aluminum beam, special mounting plates, and building soffit modifications. The installation team visited in advance to confirm that Jay's design would work. After the Sunesta awning and aluminum beam were fabricated, the installation team returned to complete the job. The installation plus operating instructions took less than 3 hours and everything works perfectly. I found Sunspaces to be a pleasure to deal with. The Sunesta awning arrived last week and was installed today. Sunspaces kept us updated on the manufacturing progress and scheduled and completed the installation within 4 days after the awning arrived. The installers arrived on time and completed the install in less than 3 hours. They demonstrated how to operate the motor and lights. They also demonstrated the automatic retraction system if there is too much wind. We are very happy with the excellent customer service throughout the process. We worked with this company we were not very happy. While sauntering through BJ's one day we came across this company acting as an agent for sunsetter awnings and had them come out to do an estimate. Be prepared to buy immediately as you are told we can't give you this "great price" unless you buy this very minute. Of course we were told that you have three days to cancel but good luck getting a hold of Jay. When Jay came out he assured us he knew everything about the sunsetter shade,but if he did he forgot to tell us things, like the sun is going to sneak under your shade for a good portion of the day. You will probably only see 4 to 6 hours of good shaded sun. This is probably the only real issue he could not solve as you really can't control mother nature but we should have been informed previous to spending $4000. Now for things you need to know as a consumer. When they come to do the installation leave them a trash barrel they are going to leave you all of their trash they don't take it away as they should being a company. Also When they do the installation they will leave big holes in your vinyl siding and if you call them to come back and fix them they don't, they don't even call you back. We have emailed the owner Jay numerous times (5/23/18) asking him to solve a list of problems. He has not returned one phone call or email since we emailed (5/23/18) him the list of problems including the fact that the pole they give you for a power outage instance only works if you stand 6 feet tall because you can't reach the connection. We would need to stand on a chair in order to close our shade. There are many sunsetter agents out there,do yourself a favor and pick someone else . read more
