Pretty, clean and quiet, it's the best way to describe it. Everything has to be paid from from parking to accessing the beach and parking is not cheap. Disgusting waters, literally looks the same as Orchard Beach. Then it charges you to park $10 for them to close not even two hours later. Then is t this supposed to be public? Why are they charging to come to this half a** beach? You can't even swim fat or anything of the sort. The also have showers inside the restrooms where you can change. Don't bring glass bottles or big coolers. Love this place. I come here a lot. The beach is always quiet and calm. I love coming here because of these reasons. It's close by and a great place to spend a sunny day. It is annoying that I can't get a resident pass even though I'm a 10 year resident of Westchester. The park is spacious and well maintained. They've really fixed it up. There are lots of flowers and running paths. The water is really nice to swim in as well. The beach is always clean and not too loud, especially for a beach. I'll be back. Just to be clear, I think the actual park is quite nice and deserves a higher rating. However, what the heck is it with Westchester parks/beaches with beach entrance fees, parking fees, fees, fees, fees. Do we not pay an enormous amount of taxes already? I seriously want to know what it covers, since everything seems to be out of pocket anyway. Now that I have vented a bit, a review about the park. The park is in a lovely location, right by the water. It's scenic and expansive with lots of green grass that is well maintained. My toddler had a great time just running around, there aren't many places like this that I know of. However, the fees to park as a resident (without a pass - passes are worth getting if you go often) are $7 a car on weekdays and more on weekends. There is no surrounding parking, mind you, so you HAVE to park there unless you live walking distance away. Then on top of that, to enter the beach there are even more fees per person. By the time a family of four parks and enters the beach, you're more than $35 in and that's for residents. Non-residents pay upwards of $15 per person. The beach is barricaded by tall metal fences on all sides and it's such an eyesore, feels like you're in a prison rather than a "public" park. The park could also use a little playground for kids. There is definitely room for a jungle gym and a set of swings too. Eh, a shame. read more

Took off early from work, but didn't want to travel far for a beach. Decided to give Rye Town Park a try. My receipt reads 4:26pm coming into parking lot and they still charged me full price of $15...they said it's their policy! It gets better... Now that I paid for parking we now have the pleasure to pay for the beach entry, now it's 4:32pm, $10 a person for non Rye resident. We are now $35 in and get to the beach. The beach was ok, average at best. It was a Tuesday, so not that crowded. We parked ourselves off to the side. Lady comes by asking if we want to sign a petition, I said unless it's to lower these prices I'm not interested. The water was super cold, mm, kinda stand still, little murky. I didn't go in all the way. Just above the knee. Many announcements. Lifeguards will come on the loudspeaker and make unnecessary announcements. Girl giggling and making same announcement, kinda like an airplane...don't really need the extra soundtrack, I'm trying to relax. Overall, it's easy to get to from Westchester and NYC. I wouldn't go out of my way to make this a destination, not great value if you're going in the afternoon. I probably won't come back, maybe if really jonesing and I can't get to a better beach. read more

This was hands down the most disgusting beach I have ever been to. I actually don't even know where to start with this review. I will start by saying--save yourself and don't come here. We came here one time during the week of 100 degrees in NY. It was pretty crowded and people were vying for spots close to the water. Naturally that would make total sense because it's always cooler there. After spending the day there--I think WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD ANYONE WANT TO BE NEAR THIS WATER? The amount of garbage that was floating in the water as the tide was coming in was absolutely appalling. Each person that went into this water had to legitimately step over the floating obstacles (garbage) to enter the water. I do not understand how this is sanitary/allowed/legal/or acceptable for the people in the nearby areas. At one point, 2 beach attendants came by with nets to clean up dead sea animals off the beach. HELLO! Isn't that a sign of disaster? One was a large dead fish floating on the shore line and the other was some type of crustacean that was buried in sand. This actually made us move our chairs farther away from the water. The irony behind this situation is that the lifeguards come on and make announcements about how to keep the beach clean. They use a megaphone and think the entire beach can hear them, well, clearly, they can't! The day we came a storm rolled in. They made an announcement that thunder was in the area so they cleared the ocean and should it get any closer, they would clear the beach. Within 10 seconds, you guessed it, they made an announcement to clear the beach. I actually consider this a blessing in disguise to have gotten us off the beach earlier than we planned. As everyone else says, it costs an arm and leg to sit on this beach that is covered in garbage. Just sit on the grassy park that you pass on the walk in that is away from the water, save your money, and assume life is good from up there! read more

Rye Town Park is one of my most favourite places in Rye. Well maintained park and beach. Great for picnicking, and pond with ducks for the kids. Interesting Spanish style buildings by the parking area; also, places to sit and enjoy the L.I. Sound and a great restaurant where you can enjoy the view whilst dining. I really enjoy coming here around sunrise, park my car in the park/beach parking lot, and take an early morning walk along the park beach pathway, onto the Playland boardwalk, and onto the end of the Playland pier. read more

Where do I begin with this stupid beach, well first of all I continually come here because it is the closest thing in my area if you really don't want to drive to Long Island or a normal beach. There are so many fees for parking and entrance and you're treated like you're in prison. There are so many checkpoints just to get onto the sand I just don't understand what the big deal is, it is just a plain old dirty New York beach. Also, not sure why there are even lifeguards if you're not allowed to swim out, use floats or let kids play in the water. Nothing about this place makes any sense. read more

An appreciation for nature is a must if you're just passing through or making this place your permanent home. Feel free to take an aimless walk, bike ride or just sit in meditation absorbing the quiet serenity. This place isnt perfect, but it sure reminds me of the important things: family, nature and consideration for the goodness in life. Sorry to drone on but you must understand the bit of gold to be found here. Not too far from NYC, but close enough to render itself an alcove from the ailments that are a normal part of city living. A great place for families and anyone who loves the outdoors. Dont be surprised to see wildlife roaming about-- they belong here more than anyone else. Having a car is a must, but the nice scenery and fresh air makes a long trip by foot a completely enjoyable experience. Although not the most diverse area, there are plenty of folks that dont fit the mold and are quite Fine with it. Of course, I love this little escape and not just for it's well known amusements. This is about the so-called Rye BEACH? I call it rye creek. It smells and the water looks nasty and is greasy. The sand is also smelly and appears contaminated with oily stuff. Yet, the town charges $10. for two hours for the very small contained access to what should be public Long Island Sound shore. On top of that, they complain and argue over the intercom all day... yelling don't do this and don't do that; we have only one life guard...; and don't play ball, etc., every 15 minutes. AWFUL!!! This is about RYE BEACH! TERRIBLE and expensive parking and entrance $35.00 for 2 hours for 2 seniors and 1 adult. A rich town rip off! read more

Price: Honestly, I'm here to complain about the prices. I'm a resident and I still think resident fee's are so useless. First of all, there's a fee to park and a fee for beach entrance that I am not a real fan of. I usually try to go to a beach where it's all included because when you have a large family, money adds up QUICK. If you're a non-resident, good luck lol. On top of that, I'm more ticked off about the new parking prices post-season. Someone explain to me why a resident, DURING POST SEASON WEATHER, has to pay around $5 for parking just for wanting to walk around the park. It use to be free to park during post season. The weather already starts to cool down, so all I'm doing is going for a walk with some scenery. I just think this is SOOOOO unnecessary. It's not like there are events or activities to do. There are only two restaurants there during the winter. Give me a break. Save yourself money and park down by play land during post season. It's free. Beach: Over all, I mean it's a New York Beach. New York is not know for beaches. But the water is pretty clean, has a few rocks, nothing crazy. The sand is fantastic. I know they clean the beach daily. It could get crowed on the weekends, however it's not really a big deal. There's no alcohol but that goes for a lot of beaches. Honestly, it's a great time at the beach. When I am there, I love to go tan and relax. It's a great environment. The boardwalk is right there, and play land is right next door so you can just walk over and do something fun if you're interested. It would be a great beach if they lowered the prices, resident or not resident. Park: Beautiful park. Clean. You could have a nice picnic and vibe out. There's a small duck pond so it's really cute. Location is great. Sometimes they have events, especially during the summer. During the summer they have fireworks on Fridays, and sometimes have music other nights. There's competitive volleyball on Mondays, but you have to sign up for that, but still fun to watch! Overall, just fantastic park. read more

The town park has restricted hours for dogs from 6-9am which are strictly enforced. Do contact the Town for more information. The beach is available during the off-season (Oct-Apr) to dogs. Happiest place on earth - better than Disneyland to see happy dogs and owners safely socializing. Owners are generally good about picking after their dogs, although dogs sometimes get far away from their owners so they may innocently miss an "accident". Do bear in mind that at low tide, the dogs could get around the fence on the west end, but generally they'll stay together with one another. Water is brackish - not as salty as regular ocean water I'm told because of the rivers emptying into the ocean nearby. Sand and surfaces were clean - they always get cleaned before and after the summer beach season when it is limited to humans. Wish our village had a dog park. During this unusual time with the pandemic, many more people have acquired or adopted dogs for company and comfort and not everyone has access to outdoor space at home. This is a valuable place that cultivates not only social well-being but mental well-being. I have never been here during the summer season, but there is no charge for parking during the off-season. Sounds like most of the complaints have to do with summer charges and litter from humans, not dogs. read more

This is a wonderful local gem. Seeing this beach is actually what made my family decide to move to Rye (as opposed to a different town in Westchester). With Rye Town Park, you can't forget that you're so close to Manhattan. In other words, if you compare it to destination beaches where people travel for vacation, then it's not a five star beach. However, if you live locally and want a really nice place to relax, jog, or swim in a family-friendly atmosphere, then this is your beach! Also, in the winter months, they open the beach next door (at Rye Playland) as a fenced in dog park. read more

The worst beach I ever been to. The staff is so rude, unfriendly and I almost sure they really don't want you to visit. The guard at the gate didn't let me bring in a water cooler cause she claimed it's not water so I had to ask my kids to drink it to convince her. The lifeguard wouldn't allow anyone to bring balls into the water, my friend was ordered not to carry his young daughter on his shoulders and so on... never coming back to this military camp ever again. read more

One of the most picturesque town parks with beach access I've ever been to. Spanish style buildings compliment the beach/park setting. If you're not into beaches there are acres of greens to walk & a lovely duck pond with fountains. Horrible beach..... full of garbage (plastic bags, bottles) floating in the water. We couldn't believe this is the beach in a wealthy town in Westchester. We even found a dog poop bag (with poop inside! I know what it looks like as a dog owner!!) and it was right next to my daughter collecting sea shells.....! Obviously workers and lifeguards are not cleaning the beach at all while they collect expensive fees for parking and beach access. We left in 15 min. We will never go there again.
