Tibbetts Brooks Park is a nice park in Yonkers that features a few streams, walking trails and a great bathhouse; though, I did not swim on this occasion. My church held its annual family day cookout on a beautiful Saturday morning and afternoon. The park ingress and egress demand good bus drivers at a few tight corners within and just outside the park. Tibbetts has plenty of parking to accommodate a large number of visitors and the bathhouse is as much a draw as the rest of the park. The pool features a few sections with different tiers outside the pool for lounging and families gathering. It's not all concrete, rather many of the lounge areas are covered in AstroTurf, which makes for a more relaxed and comfortable surface upon which to lay towels and blankets. The restrooms are kept clean, but they have a rather heavy duty check-in for access to the bathhouse. They are controlled by park employees and park police. The pool access fee is $12pp for non-Yonkers residents, even if you think you have a different understanding for group access. Many of our church members were turned away, unless they paid the individual fee. The park employees regularly removed the trash in the vicinity of our family day outing and wherever other groups gathered. They are setup well to handle large groups at Tibbetts Brooks Park. 3.8 stars! read more

Love to walk the trails in this park very picturesque and I feel very safe while doing so. I also bring my pets for walks and they really enjoy the watching the ducks on the pond watching the squirrels and chipmunks play. Great selection of birds for bird watching. read more

When the temperature is 80 and above Tibbets park is the lake to be to keep cool. It's big with a varieties of sections. They have a kiddy section with a bucket on top of the playground , just like Great Wolf Lodge, they have a water basket ball section, lazy river. A lot of places to sit 0us a concession stand. They have a huge water slide. When the pool is open , parking is 10bucks for non members then another 10 to enter the pool. When the weather is bad , the parking is free because the pool isn't open. I was lucky , I went today with my child to play miniature golf , since the weather bad , the pool was closed so I didn't have to pay for parking but miniature golf is 10 bucks per person, no bad at all, they have 19 holes , their course is a bit bigger than Saxon miniature golf, they sell ice cream bars . We had fun there. Not too crowed as long you don't hit the ball in the 19th holes, you can play for a long time. After the 19th hole the ball doesn't return to you. The playground has 3 sections. , there's a fitness area, that's cool! No permit needed to play pickle ball / tennis. A grilling sections , this lake is awesome, can bike ride, roller blade, jogging. Can have a birthday party . They have water classes too. This park is hidden, only the locals would know about it. Would have to google parks near me. Just right off the saw mill pkway. Tibbetts is a beautiful park in Yonkers, North of Van Cortlandt Park. Early last Sunday morning, we hiked ten miles. T'was a beautiful morning! They have a gigantic pool in the summer with an amazing water slide. Plus the landscaping of the park has a lake with a gazebo, a waterfall and small bridge. We have seen a variety of birds: Grey Heron, Swans, and recently a gorgeous Double-crested Cormorant. The Park also has a miniature golf course. I'll leave a three because it's pretty and my kids still had fun. But I had more complaints than expected. SO MANY RULES! Like.... frustrating ones. You can't sit on the side...you can't jump off. You can't go into the free swim area which is only 4 feet deep if you aren't at least 5 feet. The volleyball area was closed off. All of the splash things were broke down. All of the fountains were turned off. You weren't allowed bringing your own ball into the basketball area but there was only two balls -yet - there's three nets, so what's the point? You can't sit at the Eating tables for more than 20 minutes but you can't take the food out of the eating area. I got unnecessarily frustrated more than one time. There is a wonderful park that offers a great area to walk, jog or bike while maintaining social distancing. The park has many wonderful paths to help you relax and unwind. While there is normally a parking fee to enter the park, since the pool is closed for the season, there is no charge to park. We loved walking around the Tibet's Brook Lake and walking around the gorgeous Tudor Revival Bathhouse and pools that are now empty of water. It's still a remarkable looking building and you can appreciate how popular it could be in a post pandemic environment. read more

Last Sunday for the 2023 season and the ambiance became loud, with everyone playing their own music on their personal speakers. LOUD with no respect for a once family environment that just became this loud place with loud music in every corner. Me, my wife and our 2 years old daughter definitely won't recommend it as we would in previous years. As a recommendation, stop allowing people to play their own music in the pool or stop charging people to get in. I can have this kind of bullshit anywhere else for free! read more

Great park, despite some flaws. I've been coming to this park since the early 80's - hell I spent 2 years of hell in that Discovery Day Camp that used to be in this park. This park, to me, has almost been like family to me......if a land mass could be considered that at all. The park itself is a nice walk - whether you want to walk in the woodsy area or the paths. There are areas to sit, picnic, bike ride, sunbathe, play sports, or just look at nature. It doesn't matter what season it is, I love just going for a walk in this park. It's very sizable and a good time if you're one of those who appreciates a good park. During the summer, they do charge for parking - even if you are a Yonkers/Westchester resident, though they offer a pass for residents at a cost. I haven't had a pass in a long, long time, so I'm not so sure about the newer rules/fees. I think you have to pay for the pool or other things, but I don't do the miniature golf or that pool to comment on that. Past the summer, you're pretty much free to come and go by car as you please. Speaking of the pool, it was upgraded since the craphole it was back in the day. Kids will love it. There are also some nice play ground areas for kids. There are picnic tables if you want to have an outing or barbecue. Not sure if there are fees for that, so if you intend to do that, you may want to check. With the good is always the bad. There are a lot of inconsiderate pigs that come to this park. It's always dismaying to me to see liter all over the place despite the many garbage cans. It's very irritating to see, but it's gonna happen. Even worse is seeing it in the water where the geese and ducks are. One of the waterfalls had a pool of garbage at the base - disgusting and inconsiderate people are indeed. The gazebo looks in utter disrepair. It used to be decent back in the 80's - but it looks like it hasn't been maintained since then. Would be nice if they upgraded it, but perhaps it's not in the budget. As a kid, I used to catch the little crawfish under the rocks near the brook - but I guess they moved on or maybe got sick of the pollution. it was always a fond memory to me to catch them and bring them home for my low budget "aquarium", but since they're gone my son won't experience the same memory. they have re-done Tibbets and its so much better. I never liked coming here because people kept the park nasty, always making a mess out of everything, but the new park has all it needs to be one of the best in Westchester. The new Water park the BBQ grills with seating for tons of people and now the tables cant be moved. They are fixing all the parking lots and the sun area is just so green. More security driving by and talking to people, the pool is divided now with a toboggan that comes down tot the main pool I will def recommend the park. read more

I really enjoyed this park. I am pretty impressed with the pool that it offers. It looks like a water park to me instead of a community pool. There is a lazy river with a place to play basketball and volleyball. There are 2 water slides which I thought was pretty cool. I highly recommend it. Great picnic spot. However, I am unsure of the cost for non-residents. That information is easily attainable on the westchester.gov website, I'm sure. Tibbetts is a great park to walk the dogs and ride bikes. They have tennis courts and, of course, the best lazy river pool in Westchester. They charger for parking now, even for residents, which kind of blows but the park is worth a full day of outdoor fun. The grass is beautiful and it's just a nice area in my neighborhood. The family and I have gone bike riding from our home to the park and all around it. Those were some long days but nice experiences. They have decent barbecue areas. The price for residents isn't so bad if you have a bunch of people and everyone chips in it works out great. read more

A great park to visit in the summer, gets kind of crowded though, most folks come with their children for the big pool area. There is also a huge lawn to chill out on and picnic. The bathrooms are clean and if you enjoy running or cycling the Old Putnam Railway trail and the Old Croton Aqueduct trail basically run through the park. My review is about the park as a whole as well as some tips and observations from experience for various categories such as drivers, pet owners, people who like to walk, or anyone curious about what the park offers. It's not just about what it's like in the summer season and the pool/water park. I've lived in the area and have been going to this park for more than 15 years. I like that the park has consistently been safe throughout the years with barely any incidents I've ever heard of as well as having police patrol and park rangers patrolling in the summer season. The park is also fairly clean and maintained as they have an all season staff maintaining the grounds. In the summer, it's popular for its once pool that has eventually been converted into a mini water park. The price you pay for what you get is not worth it in my opinion considering how small it is, crowded it gets, and mostly a kiddie water park. Great for kids and families in the summer but probably not the go to water park you may expect especially if you're a teen/young adult looking for a local place to cool down and have fun. The highlight of this park in my opinion is that it's great to walk or jog in. I walk my dog almost every morning as many people do. There usually is never any problems, but beware some owners let their dogs walk off leash despite the park signs reminding to keep all dogs on leashes at all times. No one minds if they are playing with their dog on a field of course. And sometimes there are dog owners who don't pick up after them or take their guard dogs for a walk so keep your beloved pets close to stay safe. They have some open field areas that are great for playing sports. They even have sports areas like the tennis courts while the soccer, lacrosse, football-like turf fields are for permitted access and mostly used by local kids sports leagues. Their is also a big body of water in the park. Not necessarily a lake, but a large pond that can be quite scenic some times but most of the time it's murky or infested with lake weeds if you stare at it long enough. There was once a boat house that allowed guests to go on small boats that they no longer provide or allow. The park isn't that big that it has many trails, but there are a few hidden ones that get lost in overgrowth in the warmer weather as even the park staff may not know about them. The South Country Trail as well as a rabbit trail leading to the Croton Aqueduct Trail can be found on opposite sides along the park if you were curious. As of rentable areas, there are many picnic areas you could rent in the warmer seasons. The venues are not bad although one of them is currently closed after a tree fell on the area. Another one was burned down after a lightning storm, but has since been renovated and open. However, it does seem unprofessional that they hid the broken trash by one of the footpath entrances if you're coming from the South County Trail. You could also rent an indoor area that's found in the main building in the middle of the park to get to the pool, but I haven't any experience with that feature. For drivers, parking is free outside of the summer season. During pool season there's a $10 parking fee. I believe it's still $5 if you're a resident season pass holder and you'd also need a residential ID to enter by car or if you wish to get into the water park. Parking has gotten better since it does get crowded every summer so the main field by the park entrance is used as a parking lot. But beware of potholes! There's always so many everywhere even after they get to filling them once in a while. And if you're curious about the fitness course near the kids playgrounds, I wish they've maintained them. A lot of people jog all season long and so it would have been great if they fixed or added new outdoor exercise courses as an option for fitness purposes. They've been been reduced to a couple of calisthenic description signs, a single pull up bar, a bench with a bar with a missing description of what it was intended for, and a dirty, mystery wooden structure that's losing stability. Honestly, it's a very decent park, but it could be much better. There has been some nice additions added to the park here and there, but for a park that you have to pay a $10 for parking in the summer season even if you're not visiting the pool I expect more. It would have so much more potential if they added more season long, open to all additions like again the once fitness course area that would be popular since you can find people walk/jog here all year long. read more

We walked here (somewhat on accident) from Van Cortlandt Park, and it was really nice! Lakes make everything better. We were here early spring so the waterpark that I see from the pictures weren't open yet, but it was still really relaxing to walk around. There are benches around the lake to sit, and there are BBQ pits for that as well. Pretty nice park, the only downside is there's not good public transit nearby. read more

I work with young adults with developmental disabilities and we couldn't have had a better experience with them. I basically grew up in this park, and nowadays I'm really excited to see all of the new renovations taking place. First and foremost, if you can find a way to get in without actually driving in, I would say do so. I hear the cost of entry is really high. Luckily for me, I am within a reasonable distance from this place, so I can walk or bike in without having to pay anything. This park is one of many things that makes me glad I don't live in the city. It's so relaxing coming here, and I feel like I can really take in the fresh air. Tibbets has a little bit of everything for everyone, whether you like to jog, bike, swim, or just take in some scenery. Prior to this past year, I hadn't been back at Tibbets since the late 90s, so when I finally did go back, I was impressed with all of the new developments such as the huge soccer fields and new water slides at the pool. I used to run track here as a kid, and the walking paths are exactly how I remember them. My favorite thing to do is ride my bike around the whole park, including the long running path next to the highway that, if you take it all the way south, will eventually lead you into the Bronx. I also love the duck pond near the tennis courts, where I always see these two huge, gorgeous swans wading by the picturesque waterfall. It really is a sight to see. If you can make your way out here on a nice spring or summer day, it really is worth it. read more

Great park. Coming from the Bronx, this park is for Westchester Residents only. Luckily, there is tons of parking on the street right outside the park and you can just walk right in. The "Westchester Residents" is only for cars. There are guards in the front checking before driving into the park, so unless you are a resident, park outside and walk in. Lots of trails there and the large lake is close to the exit/entrance to the park. Lots of cook outs and barbecues going on. A lot of people were bike riding and just relaxing. There was a kiddie park section with a fair amount of play sets, (4 total, for different ages/sizes). A small food stand there, though I doubt I would ever get anything from there except for emergencies. There is also mini golf there. Also, there seems to be a massive water park in the middle of the park, that was not open when we went. Maybe they open later on in the season?! Other reviewers have shown pictures of it. read more

If you don't have a Westchester Park pass( $75 for 3 years) parking is $10 without the park pass and $5 with a park pass and to get into the pool area $15 each person adult and kids of 5 years old and with a park pass $5 child and $8 adult, So the moral of the story is it best to get the park pass and you can use it to any other Westchester Parks. read more

Who knew this place existed so close to home? It's just like the resort pools at the Poconos so there's no need to drive that far anymore. I came here as a guest for a 6 year old's bday party. It's $5 for parking & $8 for pool entrance for a large pool with a lazy river & fountains, 2 slides and a very nice section for the kids. There's even tons of grass space inside the pool if you want to camp out. My friends were allowed to place a large "bouncy castle" on the picnic property & had about 10 picnic tables & tons of space for their guests. Some guests stayed at the picnic area & ate while others checked out the pool for a while. This place is ideal for kids and perfect for a nice Sunday picnic. There's also tons of security walking & driving around to make sure everything is in order. If your idea is to go swimming at their pool, it's not something you can actually do there. Their pool is basically a giant lazy river. I big round pool that pushes you along, so you can't really actually swim, and it's 2'-8" deep. There is a sectioned off part that has basketball hoops, also 2'-8" deep, but one young kid had a beach ball, and was told by the life guard he had to remove it. There is another sectioned off spot where it's 4' deep, but it was closed off. The price, as a resident of Westchester is $10 to park without parking pass. With parking pass it's $5, but parking pass is $90 for 3 years, I believe, which makes no sense to have a parking pass if you have to pay, anyway. We thought the parking fee was the fee to get into the pool. Nope. $15 per person without parking pass ($30 for two of us) and $8 per WITH parking pass. Hardly seems like you actually save anything with the parking pass. We were also told that we weren't allowed to ride on the floats provided a certain way. The food stand was terrible. Overpriced for terrible food. I ordered a grilled cheese which was basically toast with melted cheese. Not fried. No butter. Just a slice of cheese between two slices of white toast. Also got onion rings and they were basically the frozen kind and not what I would even consider a full order. The tuna wrap was also very soggy. Very wet, if you will. Like they didn't drain the water from the tuna before adding the mayo which basically made it look like milk was running out of the wrap. All in all, it was a terrible experience. Not fun. No actual swimming. The only part you may even have been able to swim was very small and closed off. Would never go there again. If you decide to, make sure you bring your own food. Oh, and if you do that, make sure your cooler is no bigger than 12x12. (I don't have pics because I kept it in one of their lockers that you ha e to pay for anytime you need to access it) read more

Yes, it gets crowded when the camps come But that's not the Problem..The problem is the RULES do not apply to everyone..The Lifeguards Pick & choose who they want to Reprimand.. The rule is NO out side clothes in pool area which is a great rule BUT when you tell a Little 6 Year old boy he cant go in the water because his Parents did not put a bathing suit on him..was a little Harsh Because at the same time A GROWN man was allowed to enter with Cut off Sweat pants !! ( yes i pointed it out to the LG ) Now another Rule is NO sitting on the wall ..well that didn't apply to everyone either..I've seen the Life Guards tell an Elderly person not to sit on the wall ( in pool area ) But Let 3 Grown Healthy women sit for the whole 20 Minutes during this One life guards shift !! I went today as I always do every summer and I know all the rules and regulations but today the lifeguard police were ridiculous. As I was packing I swear to you 5 lifeguards and a park ranger gawking at me as I was getting my kids and stuff together. They made me feel like I was doing something illegal. Everyone had 2 lifeguards watching them but not me I must of been special I had 5 and a park ranger. Even my kids felt uncomfortable as they stood there awkwardly. They need to be trained how to treat humans. They thought I'd be intimidated but I was not. They thought I probably did t speak English but boy were they wrong. I had 2 of my friends with me who didn't speak English and they said if I wasn't there they would of cried because of how they made them feel. I will continue to come and I will take my time I will talk back. Shame on you all. read more

This park is great, but can easily be much better. Starting with accepting credit cards in all places in the park, and they can allow parking for everyone (No big deal, you can find parking in the surrounding area). Lots of family and BBQ around the park, that for my opinion is sometime too noisy, but if you are into bringing the family, and have a BBQ in a beautiful location, this park is for you. If you are coming from the city, you may love it or hate it, depend on what you are looking for. It is relaxing, with water and green, and everyone is relaxed, if you come from the city and looking for that, you are going to love it. But as I said, you may find that your credit card isn't useful (Unless you go to the ATM). And if you have kids, they will have so much fun, that you will be able to relax when you will get home, they will be exhausted from all the space the park has to offer. read more

Keep in consideration this review is only about the pool part of this park. I live in Hastings on Hudson and I drove all the way over to Yonkers to have a good time... I did not. The park is ten dollars to get into and another 15 dollars per person to get into the pool. The pool contains a fun slide, lazy river, and about 2 lap lanes, combined about the size of my living room (which isn't large). Not to mention all the unnecessary rules, for example: No Shorts, No Coolers larger than a foot, etc. THERE IS NO REAL POOL just the lazy river and a slide (the lap lanes are part of he lazy river). If you're ok with all that go right ahead, but heed my warning. read more

Horrible attitudes of the park rangers my wife is 37 weeks pregnant n they didn't let me bring my vehicle into the section where we rented to get her and load up until a certain time. You couldn't get me out that lazy pool!! What a great time my friends, niece and I had here this past Thursday. It was the 2nd of 3 90 degree + days and we were invited by some Bronx/Northern Bronx friends to Tibbetts. Parking was close to the facility. I was nervous about all the summer campers waiting to enter but it didn't seem to get that crowded. 12 inch coolers are only allowed, which realistically can only hold a 6-pack and to whom it may concern, you are allowed to wear a CLEAN shirt in the pool if you choose. I may be wrong, but this place only accepts Westchester, White Plains, Yonkers and Northern Bx. residents too. My neice and I represent L.E.S. and got in by association. YESSSS!!!! What a way to beat the heat. There was flat turf where one could lay a blanket and chill. There was also a real grassed area where one could lay out and tan. There was a tucked smoking area and designated eating area as well. But that pool, DUDE!!!! INVITING!!!!! 2 feet and 8 inches of pool that takes up most of the facility. Adults, many children and free inner tubes adorn this pool. Walking, swimming, light splashing, smiles and fun as we all followed the current that we were all creating. A mushroom spewing water, buckets dumping water, sprinklers cascading water all the while walking round and round in the pool. There was a slide that I heard was fant-abulous and an area where many lads and lasses waited under for a multi-gallon bucket to gush water on them. Lunch time brought us to the concession stand where even though there was a long line and only 1 cashier, there was a plentiful selection of grub. We settled for the Philly Cheese steak wrap, a bacon cheeseburger and FF. It filled the void. I must warn, the ground can get REALLY HOT! Water shoes and/or slippers are a must. Simple oval goggles are permited only. Not those wide eye piece ones that are geared towards snorkeling. Parking is also a separate fee from the fee for entering the pool area. Also, Tibbetts is best when visited earlier in the day. Obviously to avoid potential crowds. But even though there was a crowd, everyone kept their distance and were well- behaved. Lifeguards were attentive and really young if I might add. I guess I've been watching too many re-runs of Baywatch. Overall, I was so happy to be here. Might I add too, I stood in that pool for 5 HOURS. That NEVER happens. So thank you, Tibbetts! If you can get here, go here.
