Great time playing mini golf with my Grandson

Great time playing mini golf with my Grandson, Where else can you have this much fun for 18 bucks!

The playground

If I lived nearby, I'd probably come here often. Please note: it's for Westchester residents only during the season, ending In September. As a Queens resident it was nice to be able to visit. They have a well sized playground area with picnic tables and mini golf for $9 a person, weather permitting. There are two- three mile loop trails and a working pay phone. You could hear cars from the white trail I took so I subtract a star. They have a pool which was closed for the season. Otherwise, the bathrooms are very clean and it's good for a quick hike or to bring the kiddies if you're in the neighborhood. And they have a clothing donation drop box.

This is me because of my exiting experience

Perfect park I as able to mew and do my sigma walk while watching skibiti toleit I was also able to practice rowing with my all star team

I love this park. I go here a lot - it's convenient to get to and close to the highway, which I think is good. The trails are pretty secluded and good for anyone who wants to get out into the woods. They're not too technical but it's a fun place to escape to and get away to during the day.

I love Westchester Living! Hubby and I always renew our park passes so that not only we but our friends and family can enjoy the summer. We love coming to this pool. While there are more concrete areas than green spots as compared to some of the other pools, the sheer size of this pool is what makes our summer outings great. The pool is huge; I think it's much bigger than the pool at FDR. No matter how many cars are in the parking lot(s), the pool doesn't even really feel that packed. Granted, there are definitely areas of the pool that may be crowded, like the shallow end, the lap lanes and the kiddie section but for the most part, if you're able to venture inward from the edges, you'll truly enjoy yourself. It's quite large and the downside is that it's almost always cold but not as cold as the, now closed, Sprain Ridge Pool. On very hot days with no overcast, the chill of the pool is refreshing but it was definitely take a couple of moments to get used to the cold. Still love it. On weekends, it's best to either go early so you can claim a good spot for yourself before people start packing in, or you can go for twilight swim after 4/430 pm when most children are leaving with their families and the pool really empties out. I want to say that the pool boasts olympic-sized lanes because they feel like it (my chest hurts *cough*). We'll try to get a few in throughout our water fun days. How well we fare is determined by how many pool trips we were able to squeeze out during the summer months. We usually bring our own cooler with drinks, sandwiches and snacks. They have signs that warn they will not allow coolers bigger than 12". They will place your cooler in a 12" X 12" wooden box that they have just to "confirm". Funny thing about that...we have two coolers that are close in size and the only difference is one has wheels. We've never had an issue with the wheeled cooler in earlier years but sometimes these kids that they have at the ticket window are sticklers. We had one problem this past summer when a girl at the front entrance said our cooler was too big. I asked to see a manager because we did the box test and while the top of my cooler fit (because it's 12 X 12), the bottom did not because of the 1/4 inch that the wheels came out. Long story short, manager came out and let us in with our cooler. I took a pic of hubby carting the thing inside of the entrance so we don't ever have to go through that. Again, we've only had an issue like that this one time so, I'll call it a fluke. Regardless, the pool is great for leisure, the kiddies or your personal improvement of the breaststroke. It's worth it but, again, I urge that you go hella early on weekend days for a good poolside spot AND to ensure that you get a spot in the parking lot inside the park because when they fill up, they turn you away until "X" number of spots become available. They have handicap parking if you have your placard. Even if you get turned away, they have extra spacious parking in an executive parking lot not too far away. The offer a shuttle service by way of two vans that take guest to and from the external lot but you can also walk it because it's about a fifteen minute walk and sometimes the lot will have the only line for the shuttle van back to the pool. Despite some minor inconveniences, this pool is great. We've always enjoyed ourselves for these staycation. They have decent locker rooms with showers and spaces to change. The showers used to have warm water but now it seems they've gotten colder but not that ice freeze like most outdoor pools. Saxon will always be a family summer destination.

We wanted a nice decent-sized park to go hiking in, and we decided to give Saxon Woods a try. Like a number of parks in this part of the US, they have a season/off season fee structure. May through September, it is $5 to park for park pass (Westchester residents only) members, and $10 for out of towners. This is not really too bad for the size of the park. Saxon Woods is about 700 acres, and has a main northern and southern section. The time we visited, we spent our time in the southern section. There are a number of hiking trails, including the Leatherstocking Trail, which is a larger, 12-mile network of trails that goes around Westchester County. Blazing is relatively decent, and the general condition of the trails is pretty good, with a nice level of challenge. They're also open for cross-country skiing in the winter. There's also a pretty enormous picnic pavilion and other picnic areas. In addition to hiking, there is also a pool, a playground, some sports fields, and full-size and miniature golf courses. I'm mainly here for the hiking, and I'll definitely be back!

Nice park that allows large group picnics and dogs on leashes. Bathrooms were amazingly open and clean. Various terrain on trails. Decent place to walk, run, ride a mountain bike, and stroll with doggie. They charge $5 for parking during summer season.

You call these trails? This park is in horrific condition. Trail markings are faded and dead trees are all over the trails.

Park is extremely neglected. Trails are poorly marked and are fading. This is a tick haven since leaves are up to your knees on the trails. What a shame, it could be really beautiful if staff and management would actually maintain it. Shame on you!!

Sometimes an oldie is a goodie. Pierson is the big park on the other side of the train tracks…read moreright on the water. It's in front of a development that was Edge on the Hudson before there was Edge on the Hudson (so much for the hype there). Views of the Tappan Zee bridge and Hudson River are unavoidable which is a very good thing. Decent amount of walking paths and benches, in addition to the dedicated picnic area. Plenty of parking although it is paid via the Tarrytown parking app. Playgrounds are a bit dated but in great shape. Everything has soft, spongy ground around it. Good variety for different ages too. Haven't done the splash pad yet because it's winter but it is pretty sizable. Good amount of kids around here without it being overwhelming. Maybe not the most built up park in the area, but my toddler loves it and so do I.

This place was recommended to me by a family friend who has been coming here for years Ana…read more A beautiful spacious park which includes a scenic river walk with gorgeous views of the Hudson River, a playground, tennis court, basketball hoop, and picnic area. Admission is Free but there is a cost for parking Our Experience: we enjoyed spending the afternoon outside on this gorgeous spring day walking along the river walk and playing on the playground. The walk was absolutely stunning and the boys enjoyed walking along the path, exploring the lookout area, seeing the boats in the water and the airplanes/helicopters in the sky. Hands down my favorite part of the day. The playground was adorable with two separate sections designed for kids of all ages. While the equipment was a bit outdated, I loved that it had that soft type ground underneath it to (sort of) pad a fall. Both boys really enjoyed their time there. There is a covered picnic area so feel free to bring food and drinks! There is also a restaurant right there in the park as well as walkable restaurants in the downtown area conveneintly located close by. It was a gorgeous spring day and there were ZERO crowds with only a handful of people walking the path and only one other family on the playground. I was shocked at how quiet it was but thrilled to have the place basically to ourselves. Will go back?: Absolutely YES! CJ keeps asking to go back to "look for sharks in the water" ( lol) and to "play on the red playground" Pro Tip: it is WINDY by the water so whatever the temperature is outside, subtract a few degrees or add a jacket when planning how to dress for the day. #tristatemama #tristatearea #momlife #motherhood #kid #instagood #momsofinstagram #parenting #momblogger #momreviews #familyfun #makingmemories #nature #hudsonriver #1000hoursoutside #westchestercountyny #playgrounds #tarrytownny #nyplayground #strollerfriendly
