I decided to try the seafood risotto which was decent but a couple of the scallops were a little over cooked and the risotto itself was kind of sticky. My husband got the steak sandwich which he was surprised was a whole piece of steak (opposed to being sliced) but he said the steak was very tender and he had no issues eating it! I also stole a few of his sweet potatoes fries which were very good.

We chose to sit inside, so the view of the lake was blocked by our booth, but you can sit on the porch for 360 degree views of the water. I would definitely recommend this, as the views are the highlight of the experience. The service is also very polite and accommodating, as they indulged my request to add chicken to my dish. I ordered the Chimichurri Mushroom, and as mentioned, added chicken. The dish needed a protein, and would've been very light otherwise. Everything was cooked well, but my dish was swimming in oil. I was really turned off by this. I also found everything, including the Chimichurri, to be quite bland. Overall I had high hopes for this place, especially due to the location, but the food itself wasn't really worth returning for.

It was served on a French baguette with provolone cheese and was absolutely the best steak sandwich I've had in years. It was topped with provolone cheese that was also melted just enough to not be messy, but the melt complimented the flavors of the medium rare steak. The sandwich was accompanied by perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries. We ate at the bar and were taken care of by a very efficient bartender who also brought us our food. She made recommendations to my co-workers who weren't quite sure of what to order and they took her suggestions and were glad they did. McKenna's is a local pub and while this was my first visit, we were told that it is under new management. I do plan to go back soon and try their Shepherd's Pie which I saw another diner order. Our server told us it comes in two sizes, which is probably a lunch sized portion and a larger one for dinner. McKenna's is not a true dive bar; it was clean and warm, and the people were friendly. I hope its new management/ownership are successful because I plan on going back more frequently now that I've discovered it and because I want to work my way through the rest of their menu.
