I've been to Ryan William two times now and both experiences have been excellent. The dry whites are particularly well done, especially the Grüner Veltliner, which is now my favorite varietal. The food here is also fantastic and inventive. I thoroughly enjoyed a breakfast sandwich of pork belly, beer cheese, and hash browns. We heard about this place so we decided to try it, I'm a HUGE Mac and Cheese I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and my husband ordered two Hog Wings and the Buffalo Mac and Cheese! Very good! The hog wings were amazing! Very tender and the meat fell off the bone. We went at 9 pm it's very busy at this time so expect a 10-15 minute wait. Service was great, food was great! Overall price was not bad $44 for the two of us. Good experience! read more

What a neat barn this is! The owner took down the barn across the street and rebuilt it using the original frame and some newer materials, so it has a neat antique modern look. The wines offer sweet and dry options. I recommend their Gewurztraminer and Barn Red. read more

This is a new winery that just opened near to Bloomer Creek Vineyard and Stonecat Cafe. I stopped by on a whim in April (shortly after they opened) and was fortunate to get their last 3 bottles of 2010 Chardonnay. All of their selections are great, but I'm really enjoying their 2011 Gewurztraminer. I think Ryan William is going to help lead the way for premium wines in the Finger Lakes and I look forward to seeing them grow and prosper. read more

The staff were knowledgeable, personal, and appeared truly interested in creating fine wine. The pinot noir was wonderful (this coming from somebody who's spent time in Santa Barbara, CA). We were also offered a tour of the production facility. I can't ask for much more. Of the five Finger Lakes vineyards we visited, I recommend only this one. Ummm... Building is lovely and in good weather they have a fabulous balcony from which to sip wine. After a cold hike, and building up a hefty appetite, the food, well, meh. We visited because we enjoyed one of their Cabernet Franc vintages at an Ithica restaurant the night before. The tasting facility was impressive as one of the most modern we encountered in Finger Lakes. We enjoyed most of the wines we tasted, but the tasting experience was disappointing overall. Attempts to discuss details about the wines, the owner, and regional varietals were met with brief and unengaging responses. Follow up questions and inquisitive discussions and answers about wine would have been appreciated. Being a California resident and visitor of tasting rooms across Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Mendicino, Santa Lucia, and Sierra Foothills AVAs, those wine makers that have tasting fees (most small producers don't) happily waive them for purchases, so this was disappointing. We left without a feeling of the wine maker being grateful for our business. Good wine, but not a good cellar door experience. read more

Stopped in to a new tasting room in Hector, NY while working my way toward PA from Syracuse (414 is a beautiful drive!). Pretty much no one seems to know what is going on there, but you'd think they'd invented wine by the way the staff talks to you. Pretty arrogant folks. Good luck with that. The wines are pretty good, but the place and people need some work. No reasonable excuse for opening a sideshow in the Finger Lakes of NY. Too bad. read more
