I will start off that I love the revamp of the winery. We have been to the finger lakes 1/2 dozen of times and this sign caught my eye. The original sign is plain. I do not know if the same family have originally always owned it or if it was purchased by another family. Our first visit to Silver Springs Winery--despite it being here for 20 years--was long overdue. This is probably our sixth Finger Lakes tour in the past seven years, yet somehow, we never stopped here before. Silver Springs is truly a hidden gem. Jack was our guide through the wines, and he was fantastic. He simply asked what we liked and, if we let him, he would choose our wines for us. I told him I typically lean toward dry reds but often end up with whites since the region isn't known for its reds. He agreed but mentioned that some of their red wines are grown at their vineyards in Long Island, New York. He started me off with the Dry Italian Rosé, a blend of multiple wines, including Malbec. It had a European-style lightness--crisp with red berries up front and just 0.5% residual sugar. Next was the Cabernet Franc, which had jammy fruit-forward notes at 0.3% residual sugar. The Malbec followed, treated in a more traditional French style--light with minimal oak influence, featuring flavors of raspberries, lavender, and vanilla with a smooth finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon came next, leading with red fruit notes like raspberry and cranberry, followed by a vanilla-almond finish, which was quite nice. Then came the Tri Dition Italy, a blend with 52% Merlot aged six months in used cognac barrels. At 0.3% residual sugar, it offered blueberry, jammy dark chocolate, and raspberry flavors--a bold and well-balanced wine. My absolute favorite was the Tri Dition Zion, a 55% Malbec blend bursting with cherries, blueberries, and raspberries, finished with vanilla. It was sensational. Another standout was the Riesling Exodus, which @winecraft had tried and highly recommended. It's said to be the only Red Riesling in the United States. This unique wine had a pink rosé color with notes of tart cherries, cinnamon, and clove--on the semi-sweet side but incredibly delicious. Jack was outstanding in guiding us through the wines. We enjoyed a glass of our favorites on-site and took some bottles home. Jack also provided excellent recommendations for places to eat and other wineries to visit.

The pizza is delicious with a light crust sultry tomatoes and fresh garlic cloves. Add the herbed olive oil you won't regret it. The wine was some of our favorites picking the Rose and Pinot Grigio to go.

I live in Sonoma County, in the heart of California's wine country. We were in the Finger Lakes for a few days and wanted to do some wine tasting. The wine industry here in CA is a big, often serious business. We have tasted many Finger Lakes wines and while good, they don't measure up to the wines in our part of the world. No, I'm not a wine snob...I'm honestly not. I decided to bring our family here because of the great reviews. When I walked in, I really wasn't expecting much. The hippy vibe was actually cool, but for a winery? Let's see ... Between our family, we actually tried the whole assortment of wines offered. My youngest daughter enjoys sweet wines, my eldest somewhere in between, while my wife and I lean toward the "adult" wines, so we did the tasted the remainder. I wish I got our servers name, he was outstanding at his job. Funny, entertaining and he had a vast knowledge of the wines served and winery in general. I was utterly shocked how good these wines were. Many were on par of what we are used to here in Sonoma County. My wife and I have different palate's when it comes to wine, but we were both in consensus about how good these wines were. I thoroughly enjoyed the Pinot Noir, Bold Merlot, Tri Dition Italy & Zion, and a couple of the whites. I wish I could have brought several bottles home. This is one of those cases, where you don't judge a book by it's cover. Whimsically labeled bottles, tapestries, funny signs...then it gets serious when the wine comes out. Best tasting, by far, for our recent visit to the Finger Lakes. If you're in the region and searching for somewhere to taste, look no further than Silver Springs. It won't disappoint.

You should absolutely visit this winery! We stopped here after we spent a few hours at Watkins glen and I'm so glad we did! It's a quick 5 minute drive so really easy to get to from there. The inside is beautiful. We did a wine tasting with Nick and he was so friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed talking to him. I love sweet wines and I can't believe there were 8 different wines that I actually loved. My bf got a tasting of dry wines and he loved them. The tastings were $10 to try 6 wines. The owner was also there and was recalibrating their pizza oven that has been down so he gave us a pizza on the house to make sure it was working well. It was so good! We ended up each getting a glass with our pizza and taking two bottles of wine home (peach paradise and sweet Italian red). I can't wait to drink them. Definitely visit this place! So so good.

We visit this place yearly and make a beeline for Silver Springs Winery. The owner, his family and the servers are super friendly. The wine is fabulous. We've opened bottles of their fruit wines after two years that taste as good as the day we bought it. The tasting area is very nice and there is plenty of room for a group. We got to enjoy some freshly made pizza that had high quality ingredients. The owner made the pizza and it was fun to watch. We lucked out this year and got to chat with the owner. Some years we miss him but we enjoy our visit anyway! My favorite winery by far. See you next year.

I visited here in October with my fiance, as we were on a little mini vaca in the Fingerlakes. My fiance had never been to a wine tasting before, so we decided to go to this one and were honestly so impressed by the whole experience. The employee was SO knowledgeable about the wines- I mean he knew EVERYTHING. He was just spouting out all these cool facts while we just sat there in awe of him sipping on DELICIOUS wine. We also got snacks... including string cheese, which we loved. I adore the vibes in this place. A lot of wineries kind of have an unintentional "stuck-up vibe" (or maybe it's intentional?) but NOT this one. Tie-dye & Bob Marley everywhere- we just loved that. The music was chill and just the whole vibe was so unique for a winery. The wine was absolutely incredible. $200 some dollars later and I'm stocked up for a while. Looking forward to coming back here again one day!

Ok, so do not let the tye dye car or the stoner decor deter you- this, by far, has the best reds that we have tried along Seneca lake. We have done the top commercialized options, but I'm a believer in reviews- and someone spoke highly of here, and I'm glad I read that- as all I could say was this blew my mind. Full body, levels of flavor- very good red wines. So happy we made a stop! Bonus, no reservations required which is nice as it's hard to plan reservation to reservation with travel. Thank you so much Sam, you were a great host!

Love the theme, but we felt rushed through the tasting. The wines were a touch too sweet for me as well.

Our next stop of the day took us to our first distillery visit of the trip, and wow--Finger Lakes…read moreDistilling did not disappoint. What surprised us most? This was our very first time visiting, and we hadn't even realized they had been established since 2007! Knowing that they had been perfecting their craft for over 17 years, we were eager to dive into the tasting experience and see what they had to offer. The tasting room had a laid-back yet polished feel, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff ready to guide us through their lineup of small-batch, handcrafted spirits. The distillery prides itself on using locally sourced grains and fruits, and you could tell from the first sip that quality and attention to detail were at the heart of their process. The Tasting Lineup I opted for a tasting of four different spirits, and after enjoying those, I was encouraged to try two more--a bonus that made the experience even better. Here's what I sampled: 1 Straight Bourbon - This was beautifully balanced, with sweet corn and vanilla upfront, followed by a warming spicy rye kick on the finish. Smooth yet complex, it was a fantastic introduction to their bourbon lineup. 2 Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon - A true standout, this one had rich caramel and toasted oak flavors, along with the perfect balance of spice and warmth. Aged for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof, it had a bold yet refined character that made it easy to appreciate. 3 McKenzie Straight Rye - If you're a fan of rye whiskey, this one is for you. It had that signature spicy rye bite, but what really made it unique was the sweet sherry cask finish, adding a layer of richness and complexity that lingered beautifully. 4 Bottled-in-Bond Rye - One of the most interesting pours of the day, this rye was bursting with flavors of chocolate, nougat, and dried red fruit. The influence of the barrel aging was prominent, giving it a decadent, almost dessert-like quality while still holding onto its classic rye spice. After those four, I couldn't resist trying two additional spirits: 5 Apple Brandy (Aged 10 Years) - A masterfully aged apple brandy that showcased deep, caramelized apple flavors, balanced with warm baking spices and oak influence. The 10 years in the barrel really allowed this spirit to develop incredible depth and smoothness. 6 Grappa - This was an unexpected favorite--simply sensational. Grappa can sometimes be overpowering, but this one was smooth, refined, and packed with rich grape flavors, making it one of the best versions I've tried. Taking a Piece of Finger Lakes Distilling Home While every single pour was impressive, the one that stood out the most for me was the Straight Bourbon--so much so that I had to bring a bottle home. It reminded me of a classic Rye Whiskey, with just enough spice to keep things interesting but smooth enough to sip neat. Final Thoughts Finger Lakes Distilling far exceeded expectations, and I can't believe it took us this long to visit! With their commitment to quality, incredible range of spirits, and inviting tasting experience, this is a must-visit for anyone exploring the Finger Lakes region--whether you're a bourbon lover, rye enthusiast, or just appreciate finely crafted spirits. It was the perfect stop to break up a day of wineries and breweries, offering something distinctly different yet equally enjoyable. Next time, I'd love to stay a little longer, maybe sip on a whiskey cocktail and take in the atmosphere even more. Cheers to great whiskey and new discoveries!

Had tried their McKensie bourbon at a bar or top and liked it, so was happy that it was on the itinerary of our wine and spirits tour. The space, like most wineries/distilleries/breweries up here, overlooks a lake (Seneca in this case) which is very scenic. Inside of the place was very nice and the staff could not be friendlier. I can't underscore the importance of the latter. Selection here is awesome. Some places make 2 bourbons and call themselves a distillery. These guys do whiskey, gin, vodka, varietals and other specialty stuff. I focused on the whiskeys which were awesome. I can see why these guys have won so many medals. I tried the small batch, cannoli infused bourbon, applejack, rye, straight bourbon, bottled in bond, single malt and Applejack. Everything was at least noteworthy. Single malt was awesome, which is the biggest thing I look for as the true test of a distillery. They had just started making the applejack, and it one of these best I've tried. People don't what the hell this is, but it's basically cider-based whiskey; it's great for cooking, drinking and was the first American-invented spirit going back to colonial times. Don't sleep on it. Only one I wish I had tried was the pot stilled, but I had enough to know it's probably good. I took home the applejack and the single malt, as those are really my go to's, however there was a lot worth trying. Also nice to see them offer number of cool cocktail options for those less inclined to drink pure alcohol. We ended the visit with some cigars infused with their cordials, which were an awesome surprise. This place is destination worthy. People think of wine when they think Finger Lakes, but there's more up here than that. This places exemplifies that. Will be back, and will buy their stuff locally.

Set sail for True Love, a truly enjoyable time!…read more Bottom Line Up Front: We had a wonderful, relaxing, and fun time for a good price. The Good: The history of the John Alden designed schooner is worth reading before you go. We had some more "salty" members of our group that recognized the name of the schooner from the 1956 movie "High Society" starring Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and after that we were on board for a wonderful time. We even were seated in the seats once occupied by Gene and Bing. We purchased our tickets after being approached by Terry who negotiated a decent price with us because he wanted a full boat for the next trip. Captain Bill was an experienced Captain and is well known in the area. He got us underway and was a delightful host regaling us with stories about the "True Love", Seneca Lake and surroundings, as well as, some stories about racing the "True Love" and his crew, Spencer and Marena. Captain Bill even assisted another sailing boat that was in distress and precariously close to the lake edge. The trip was two hours long and on time. The crew served non-alcoholic and adult beverages (some free, some for a price) while underway and also sold some souvenirs (Whisky and glasses). The Bad: There was nothing bad, from start to finish, this was a very enjoyable trip and the crew definitely enjoyed sharing their love of the "Trie Love" with the joyful passengers. The Ugly: Absolutely nothing other than we could not be out for longer. If you find yourself in Watkins Glen, this is definitely an enjoyable to kick back, relax, and let the wind fill your sails. They say a picture is worth 1000 words, so I am going to end my post with a few that we snapped along the way. May you have fair winds, and following lake waters!
