This is review is late in coming. Stefano, a skilled Artisan…read morefrom Rome redid our stairs recently. i emphasize the ART in Artisan because the man is an Artist, Skilled Craftsman and Magician rolled into one. Our stairs had many nicks, ships and cracks, but most notably was a clean break from one of the stairs. First of all, Stefano was totally professional. He scheduled out his time accordingly, and when he was delayed by a day, he let us know almost a week in advance that he was running behind. When he was running 10 minutes late to meet us or start his job, he would call us. Unheard of from most people in the contractor biz. His contracts were professional, and his deposit was reasonable. The ART part: Stefano is amazing. He sanded down the old stairs, filled the gaps with resin that he matched to the color of the stairs. The big break? Stefano has pebbles that he orders from 3-4 different locations across the country to help match your terrazzo near exact. He hand placed the stones in the crack and resealed them in with the resin. in addition, he rounded the stairs (bull nosed) to give it a nice finished look from the original slab edges. The landing with tiles were acid washed and resealed. I will post pics soon, but lets put it this way, the original owner's daughter came by and couldn't find the broken stair on the staircase. Stefano's price was also affordable. I am hoping that he is able to pass his craft and knowledge later since what he does, is becoming a lost art.

Stefano was incredible. Not only did he fix our stairs, which we falling apart and had 3 metric…read moretons of caulking placed by the previous owner just to hold them together, but he did it beautifully. Before we talked with Stefano we were told the entire staircase needed to be replaced and the cost would be just under $20,000. Needless to say, we got another bid. Stefano told us that we had rebar, it was strong and that the stairs could be fixed. His price was incredibly reasonable - I mean look at the before photos. He worked fast, he was honest, and also a great guy to talk to. Now every time my husband and I go down the stairs we smile - because they look awesome. It is amazing what makes you happy when owning a house. Anyway, do not look any further than Stefano. You too will have gleaming, dazzling stairs (see the after photos). And not only will you smile at the glory of your new stairs, but you will still have money in your pocket. Thanks Stefano!

Great service, quality and price!…read more I shopped around for different contractors for my roof and these guys came in with the best price, best warranty terms and awesome quality materials as promised - hassle free. They gave me the option of upgraded my roof shingles to a high end presidential shingle that will last twice as long as basic. The project manager Ben was a super cool guy and accommodating with pricing as well as scheduling. He really went above and beyond to give me the best options to ensure quality work and made the process painless and comfortable. From demolition, repair and installation, the working crew was in and out in less than 3 full days. Even my neighbors were so surprised how fast and clean the crew was. After they were done they left my house spotless of any trash and even made sure my garden was left in better condition as it was before the job started. Would recommend VIVID to anyone looking for quality work!

I must apologize for taking so long in writing this review. My project was to remodel my 1960's…read morebathroom which was completed the end of January 2015....and I LOVE IT. One day I shared with my neighbor my experience of interviewing two other contractors and how frustrated I was feeling. This is when I learned about Joe Bettencourt. From the very start he was easy to communicate with, offered suggestions and shared his expertise regarding any questions I had. I really appreciated how organized he was in orchestrating the entire project. And to top it off he also got down and dirty, physically involved in the demolition and reconstruction. I was impressed by the crew's quality of work, their knowledge, and the pride each person had in their craft. Joe was easy to work with and he kept me informed of what to expect day to day. I was also impressed by his communication skills...he was easily contacted by phone especially with the usage of text messages. Save yourself some time and STOP looking for a contractor . Call Joe and hire Straightline Construction...I'm happy I did and I know you will be too!

Hello again neighbors -…read more I've had the good fortune of being able to do some remodeling. SInce I ran across a number of great, and I mean GREAT contractors, I thought I'd share my wealth. General Contractor: Joe Bettencourt Straightline Construction, Licensed & Bonded joe@straightlineconst.net Mobile / Text : (408) 209-9584 Joe's prices may be a wee bit higher than the really "hungry" contractors out there. You will get much more than what you paid for. Joe works hard to maintain his five star rating. He is knowledgable in all aspects of his trade. When I throw a new high end appliance at him, ie, walk in tub, steam shower with jacuzzi jets and MP3 hookup or my measurements are a little off he handles it easily.. You know talent when someone can make things look easy. It looks easy, but then I think I can play tennis like Venus Williams too! All his sub-contrators are equally top flight. In the middle of my work it was determined that I needed a new sewer line - okay, after 50 years this was to be expected. Joe's plumbing crew knocked it out in one day. More on that crew to follow. All in all, you can't go wrong with Straightline Contruction. They gutted and rebuilt my brother's in-law cottage in Los Altos 10 years ago and I'm extremely happy with the work done at my home this year. You may have seen Joe's trucks around Willow Glen, as he has a few projects in the neighborhood. He's also "El Jefe" in Palo Alto too! Joe is quite the manager /problem solver. I'd contact him via email or text rather than using the phone. He'll be able to prioritize your needs and get back to you much quicker. Note: Joe is fluent in English, Portugese, Spanish and all things construction. Plumber: Octavio Cisneros Straightline Construction, Licensed & Bonded Mobile / Text : (408) 489-7114 Octavio doesn't mince words.. He doesn't waste your money either. He even talked me out of some work that I thought needed to be done by assuring me my water heater was up for the task. Per usual, he was right. When Octavio and his crew role up to your home, get ready! When I say crew, I men a swarm of plumbers will arrive and they mean business. These guys don't have time or any inclination to do the job a second time. Octavio will research, strategize and prep beforehand, in order to do the job right the first time. His crew is organized and everyone knows their role. So, kick back and watch the experts at work. They're slightly anal about plumbing. If another plumber has done work that is not up to their standards you better believe it will get fixed as part of the original bid. Octavio doesn't want to see you again, don't take it personally, he's just that kind of professional. Note: Octavio is fluent in Spanish, Spenglish and all things plumbing. If you're concerned about his comprehension (I wasn't) go through Joe Bettencourt. Thought you'd be interested in knowing about my find. Again, I enjoy sharing my wealth. In this case, it's a wealth of experience and talent at Straightline Construction! See you around -

We were incredibly impressed with the team's problem-solving skills. Whenever we ran into unforeseen obstacles, they quickly came to us with options and solutions. The entire crew was fantastic. Our project manager, Niv, and foreman, Julio, ran the project smoothly with great expertise. Jael's design transformed our dated bathrooms into upscale, luxury, spa-like retreats. Alex worked on our deck, and the result is a stunning, magazine-worthy space I've always wished for. Clarity delivered a wonderful final project exactly as promised and within budget. Even after the final walkthrough, Daniel and his team remained highly responsive and quickly showed up to resolve any minor issues we had. I had a great experience with Danny / Bay Area Pro Handyman…read more I've worked with my share of contractors, and Danny is among the best. Danny was communicative, timely, and reasonable with pricing. I had a special request for a portable set of stairs in my attached garage, since I wanted to option to remove the stairs in case I wanted to park two cars in our garage (the configuration with a permanent set of stairs would not provide enough space for a 2nd car). When I first reached out to Danny, he was very thoughtful in thinking about different design options that would fit my criteria, and helped confirm my input throughout so we minimized rework. Danny was very hard working and took pride in his workmanship, too. I am happy with the end result (see attached pictures), and would look forward to working with Danny again for future projects.
