Buyer Beware, RUN don't walk!! There are plenty of ethical, quality builders to choose from. Don't…read moreput down any deposits unless you know 100% you will build with capstone or they WILL keep the money because quote from salesperson: "We need to penalize our customers or they will walk all over us." read the reviews!!! We did, and although they sent up large red flags, we chose to ignore and regret that decision now. The contract you sign states the deposit is non refundable if you default, but we have spoken with multiple builders during and since dealing with Capstone and every one of them is appalled a company would keep $10,000 deposit when neither Final price, drafted plan, or any permitting/lot work has been completed. Yes, they are legally right to keep the $10,000, but ethically why would they when minimal work (other than pricing) has been done. They feel justified because they spent time pricing items and drafting from an existing plan they own. Completely unwilling to negotiate a fair compensation for the drafters time. Regarding pricing, that is what sales is about. Once the initial deposit was paid, the pricing structure was no longer negotiable and their alacart pricing is simply crazy. For example - a $fireplace that RETAILs for $5,000, they want $10,000!!! (Mind you - they don't pay retail). Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. In my opinion (which we paid $10,000 to share with the public every opportunity we can) although we lost $10,000 - we WON!!! We will not be building with Capstone and for that we are grateful. I would highly discourage anyone from doing business with Capstone. I can only imagine the nightmare that would have taken place if we proceeded with the build and had we put down the next sizeable deposit based on lots of published reviews from consumers.

I DO NOT recommend anyone to do business with Capstone Builders! Read the many negative reviews, We…read moreregretfully ignored the reviews and ended up in a similar situation as many others but fortunate enough not to have ended up building with them. Let me say this first and foremost: we did sign a contract, put down a 10k deposit, and ended up defaulting by canceling our contract, and they kept the full $10k. Legally this was their right per the contract, but ethically, based on the fact that a home plan with pricing had not been finalized, no site plan or permits had been initiated and therefore only minimal Drafting had been accomplished, we offered to pay the $2500.00 drafting/design fee they charge someone who just wants a home plan without a commitment. GREED. We had not been offered this option, but found out about it after we signed a contract by one of their other salespeople. Our sales person openly stated they needed to "penalize" their customers in situations like this or they would walk all over them!? I have written and will continue to write reviews on every platform possible, and they will continue to respond with "we mutually agreed"...... what they don't respond to is why they would keep $10,000. It's a large sum of money, and it speaks volumes to the integrity of the company. But in the end, we won by NOT having Capstone build us a home!! We can only imagine how potential issues would be resolved (or Not) once they had the second very large deposit! BTW - we tried for almost 3 weeks to meet with the so-called, interested President of the company as we felt he would want to understand from a customers perspective of why we decided not to build and to give them the courtesy of an In-person meeting. When we finally let, he was a no-show!! I truly wish we had really considered why so many negative reviews, and my goal now is to make it a point to share our experience with anyone that is trying to build a home in the area and is contemplating a Capstone home! In my opinion, based on many negative reviews and our personal experience, customer satisfaction and building a favorable reputation within the local communities is NOT their concern.

Warning: Capstone Homes' basement construction is unsafe, floods, and their warranty department…read moreignores claims. If I could give zero stars, I would. We purchased our home from Capstone Homes, LLC with the expectation that a new home--backed by their 10-year warranty--would provide security and peace of mind. Instead, our basement has been a nightmare from day one. We now have ongoing structural failure in the basement, with persistent water intrusion through side walls, cracks, cove joints, and support beams. Independent professionals, including Dry Zone, have confirmed that the basement slab was poured improperly, with separation joints not completed correctly--causing cracks to form and spread. We even have photos from before the foundation was poured showing standing water on the site, something we were never warned about as first-time homebuyers. The damage from flooding last year forced us to hire Servpro to tear out carpet, padding, and baseboards in what was supposed to be our family room. The space is now nothing but a water pit. We've been quoted $35,000 for repairs--on top of what we've already spent trying to keep our home livable. USAA canceled our insurance policy due to the structural issues, and the moisture caused health concerns in our family. Capstone Homes, LLC stalled until our warranty ran out. Homebuyers deserve honesty, quality, and a builder who stands behind their work. We received none of that.
