We rented in West Cape May for a family vacation. Whole home advertised as an escape. It was an awful experience. Stayed at 11 Pond Creek as one of Coastline properties. Smelled of septic, rodent issue and handy man stopped by to "kill some mice", house was filthy with dirty tissue on night stand although we paid a $350 cleaning fee. Brought all of this up to coastline along with other concerns (no shades in bedroom, pool didn't full function) - they said homeowner wouldn't do anything so they were out. No advocacy or consideration. Not as advertised. Very disappointing. Buyer beware. read more

After walking through a home, 231Birch Ave in Villas, NJ, it was discovered the entire crawl space was covered in mold. The sellers did not disclose there was mold, so my agent disclosed it to the listing agent. The listing agent took multiple offers without disclosing the defect to those that submitted contracts or the real agents. I called the Broker and she said she would not disclose the findings unless found by an "expert". Meanwhile a licensed contractor found the problem. The Broker was not only arrogant and rude but she and the listing agent are unethical. She doesn't feel she did anything wrong. She tried to back peddle after the fact but still didn't right the ship. She should not have a Brokers license. Period. read more

Coastline Realty was the host for a VRBO property I was interested in. I submitted my request to rent based on the owners calendar availability and was immediately charged. Come to find out my dates weren't available but I still had CC fees. All the realtor/host did was put his hands up and take NO responsibility. Now I'm stuck trying to get my money back and this agent couldn't even pick up the phone to reach out to VRBO and explain or confirm the situation to push the refund process along. Not only am I never using VRBO again, I'm also never using this realty. A little customer service goes a long way, too bad you won't get that here. read more

This was our first time staying in Cape May, and we had the worst experienc renting with Coastline Realty. Our rental was nothing like the pictures listed on their website. In fact, I sent them pictures, and they used those pictures to update the listing!! The lease we signed didn't have the correct beds listed. This was our first and last time renting through this company. Our rental property was not up to expectations, and was furnished with cheap plastic furniture. The two window units were inadequate to cool this tiny house. We thought since it was unusually hot that it was to be expected so we didn't say anything, besides there was nothing they could do. The real disappointment was when we received some of our security deposit back a month later. When contacted about why the full deposit was not returned they stated the owner of the property had issues with the condition of the property. To be clear, we left this house cleaner than it was when we arrived. The owner claimed that there was grass and sand all over the floor. She also claimed it took her cleaning person 3 hours to clean the house. The property is less then 500 square feet, which is impossible considering we didn't use the bedrooms due to the heat. When we contacted Coastline Realty they stated they were just the middle man, and didn't go out to the property to validate the claims by the owner. Rather they just take the word of the owner, and any complaints will be handled by them. The person I spoke to had no interest in helping us, and only offered to forward our concerns and feedback to the owner, and maybe she'll reconsider and refund the full security deposit. The property at 205 lighthouse Ave. Cape May Point NJ. should be avoided at all costs. This is not worth the price, and the eventual headache from an unreasonable and shady owner. The best feature of this house is the outside shower which tells you all you need to know about this property. I can not stress enough that this company and property should be avoided at all costs. Apparently their mission statement to provide every customer with the finest service based on their highest standards of ethics and values is a farce. Their lack of verification and doing business on the honor system rather than on verifiable facts is unacceptable. They allow owners to fabricate charges in order to further take advantage of their clients, and at no time offered to help or verify what the owner reported was factual. read more

One of the worst rental experiences ever. Our family rented the house at 800 Washington St. with Coastline Realty for 3 days over New Year's. The location and the space inside the house were very nice. However, we had a few major disappointments stemming from the condition of the house to the check-out process. The master bedroom upstairs had major water damage on the wall right above the king bed (about the width of the bed). We were worried of mold or any additional damage that could potentially fall on the bed. It was gross and we were not warned ahead of time! Many of the doors (bedrooms and bathrooms) did not close properly nor did they have locks. This was a noise and privacy issue. The house was poorly insulated which made the closed-in porch unusable to us although we were told it was heated before we booked and would be usable. Despite many issues with the house, we still had a nice time, up until the checkout process. Our family has been renting houses at the shore for over 20 years, and as we've always done, we cleaned up the house and ran the dishwasher and the dryer before locking up. When we dropped off the key, the person who checked us out said it would be ok to leave the dishes and towels in the washer/drier. However, a few days later we were: (1) accused of putting a large scratch on the floor, which they later discovered was there before we arrived, and threatened to charge us (no apology!); (2) charged extra out of our security deposit for leaving clean dishes in the dishwasher, a few clean towels in the dryer, and moving furniture a few inches (to make the house usable!). The close out process and communication between the realty company and the owner were despicable and we will NEVER rent this house again nor work with Coastline Realty. We have rented hundreds of homes in the past, are always respectable house guests, and were utterly shocked at the way both the owner and realty company handled the situation. It seems like they have never done this before. They were unapologetic, accusatory, and clearly don't care about customer satisfaction. I would not recommend renting this house or working with Coastline Realty in Cape May. read more

Do not rent through this company. I have been renting at Cape May Point for years. I come every year with my extended family and we rent 4 or 5 homes for two weeks. This year I went through Coastline Realty and rented a small place (520 Pearl Cape May Point, NJ) for only 1 week because it was all my schedule would permit. When I arrived (saturday) I noticed the garbage disposal didn't work and then the air conditioner stopped. I called Sunday and they told me various repair people would arrive. Soon thereafter my son and I were startled as a mouse ran across the living room. A little while later we saw a mouse run across the kitchen. The repair people came for the first couple of problems and then the vermin exterminator came and laid bait. For the next five days I heard mice eating the bait right under the stove. I also saw another mouse about three days after the first two sightings. It was disgusting. My children and I could not sleep there especially since one of them was on a blow up mattress on the floor. We slept on the floors of my siblings houses. I did not put food in the cabinets nor cook because all day long I could hear mice under the stove. While Carol Menz, the manager of Coastline, was at first helpful, when I suggested I get a refund under the circumstances, she wrote a letter to the owner and,in my opinion, implied that maybe there were no mice since no other tenants had seen them. She wrote this despite the fact that the vermin exterminator she sent out said there was clear evidence that the mice were totally going after the bait under the stove. The owner said he would not refund any money because, according to Carol, "no one else had any problems". Carol became rude and offensive. She was not an advocate at all for me and did not tell the owner that her exterminator had found evidence that mice were present, were continually rattling the bait under the stove (even as we stood there) and were still in the house eating the bait days after the first sighting. A house with vermin is uninhabitable. I had only one week of vacation and it was ruined. I spent hours calling about the problems and had various repair men come into the house at all different times. I have always had a great time at the Point but this was awful. I could not believe that a realty company could be so pathetic. Coastline took my money and guaranteed, in doing so, that the house was habitable. Then, when it came time to advocate for me, Carol Menz did not. She just left me a nasty voicemail message and said "the owner will not refund any money because no other tenant had a problem". So, I suppose if Ms. Menz went to a doctor for a face lift and the doctor botched the job BUT the doctor had never done that to another patient, Ms. Menz would not be able to ask for a refund or damages. There are other companies to use in Cape May, NJ. Use them instead of this one. read more
