I can freeze myself and others can stay moderately warm. HOWEVER... the management is dismissive and disregarding. The bathroom is between rooms and the locks are in the bathroom side meaning a locked door locks in the far bedroom no other way out!! Can we say OSHA (for any employee who may accidentally get trapped inside) and fire code violation?! There's no other way out of the room aside from jumping out the window. We got stuck. I could not slip the mechanism. I had to break a pair of glasses to unlock the door from the other side. Last issue, the microwave is on top of the mini fridge but the cord is not long enough to reach the plug so it needed to be moved in order to work.

It was fourth of July weekend so all the airbnbs and typical hotels were booked up or too expensive. As a last ditch effort, we found Anchorage and booked it. I'm pretty bougie when it comes to hotels. One could even say I am high maintenance. I was a little skeptical of Anchorage but based on the reviews, I figured I could tough it out for a night. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly front desk staff. The parking lot had ample free parking - major bonus. The room itself definitely wouldn't be featured on HGTV but, despite being outdated, it was very clean. It even had a fridge and a microwave - something a lot of these higher end hotels don't even give you nowadays. The beds were a little hard but nothing I couldn't withstand for a night. The motel was quiet and clean and the staff were nothing but friendly. If you're planning a quick trip to Rehoboth and you're in a pinch, I'd recommend Anchorage. It might surprise you!

Soaps and shampoos are provided, but if you need conditioner or less astringent products, be prepared to bring your own from home. Plenty of counter space in the bathroom and lots of storage space in the room. The rooms were relatively spacious, compared to some of the newer hotels and motels. Rooms in the "hotel" section featured a flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, and microwave. Be prepared to bring an extension cord if you need to charge devices by your bedside, and an alarm clock if you need to see what time it is in the middle of the night because I couldn't find one in my room. Even though a clock might not be provided, the staff will provide an old-fashioned wake-up call -- just don't call them in the middle of the night as the front desk may not be manned after midnight!

We stayed in the Coastal Suite, in the converted barn at the back of the property - a very comfortable room and no traffic noise. The Inn is a mix of quaint (it used to be a working farm) and up to date (modern appliances and WiFi and Roku TV). The Inn is just a few miles from downtown Lewes, with its beaches and shopping, and we were able to get there easily on major roads. We definitely plan to stay there again.

This faded quickly at the entry level with a strong smell of wet dog, followed by no cooling on the interior. The pictures on the internet are dated and things are cluttered now. The room I booked was not the room held, but since it was a weekday I could have my pick of the 3 front rooms, none of them the one I booked (?). The room was clean and there was AC that, when turned On, over time cooled the room down. During the night I was awakened by the heat and found the AC was not cycling On unless the ceiling fan was On (?). There are plentiful sugary and baked goods snacks and soda in the breakfast room for anytime. The fresh fruit though was over or under ripe. The morning coffee was not hot. Breakfast did happen and I was able to enjoy a wide selection of melon and berries with yogurt that was put out buffet style. The eggs requested, came pretty much as desired. The first morning I found out the free bike option was no longer available. I must have read about bikes in the reviews but now find they are no longer available in the fine print of the booking. My pleasure in staying here always fell short. I would have enjoyed a cookie cutter motel as much. I suppose I wanted the accommodation to be as attentive as the decor pictured. Then, as mentioned, the pictures are from some time in the past.

Its designer also deserves 5 stars! But that's not what will bring us back. What will bring us back, is Andre and his honesty, his hardworking/attention to cleanliness, and most importantly his kindness. Andre and his staff go above and beyond for their guests. From finding/shipping a lost ring (for another quest) to taking pride in the appearance of the motel, from sharing great ideas for food/drink/etc. He cares!!! He made our stay in the comfy beds, cool air conditioning, and hot shower unit that we had even that much better. You will love your stay at the Surf Shanty and you will remember Andre!
