We were so charmed by this beautiful, colonial house! the entire house was so well-kept and cared for. Our bedroom was clean and well-stocked and the bed was so cozy! The innkeepers are some of the nicest people we ever met, so accommodating and friendly. The setup for HOMEMADE breakfast in the dining room was beautiful (and it was as delicious as it looked, maybe even moreso!) they have an adorable little Corgi named Lucy (don't worry they keep her in their living quarters. My bf and I are dog lovers so we asked if we could see her. Otherwise she wouldn't be in the house.) We had such a fantastic time at The Governor's! They made our first bed and breakfast experience an unforgettable one and it is the standard at which we will hold all bed and breakfasts from now on. We cannot wait to go back!!

It is about 2 blocks from the boardwalk, in the middle of everything, so the location could not have been better. There is also free parking on site, which made life so much easier. The staff was super helpful and super friendly. They let us park and use the pool before our room was ready. The hotel is older and a bit dated in some ways, such as having only 1 elevator for the entire building, however, the room was recently and thoughtfully redone and was also huge. There is also a rooftop deck, which is a great spot for drinks, corn hole, or people watching. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I have stayed here twice, once on our own in a suite and again with the dog in a king room. It's a little off the beaten track, but still walkable to the main drag. Canalside is quiet and scenic, with a lovely double-decker front porch where you'll likely be greeted by other guests as you arrive. The rooms are bright and well-apportioned. We didn't have a problem parking either time and check-in was a breeze. The hot tub was small, but appropriately clean and hot. We did not try the pool. There are 2 breweries within walking distance (Dogfish Head and Revelation), which were significant selling points to my husband. Additionally, the beach was about a mile away (although dogs are only allowed on the beach during the off-season). We will definitely be staying here again. I highly recommend it to any dog-owning beer drinker.

Some small issues people probably don't like is they ask you to take a photo of yourself and license and upload it via your phone to eventually get your code for your room. The bathroom was not the best for the price you are paying. Shower looks like from the 80's and the toilet paper was the prison style one ply. I think in the off season they could reduce the price a bit to entice customers to stay here. The location is great as it's close enough for us to the beach but still a hike if you don't want to walk like a mile.

Although our room was mostly clean, I discovered a large accumulation of dust, hair, and debris under the bathroom door on our last day. The bathroom grout was also visibly dirty. When I mentioned this at checkout, the response was that it was a "tough time of year," which felt dismissive. The building was unkempt, with visible rust, deterioration, and needed repairs. The indoor pool area was run down, with rust and algae, a deck in poor condition, and noticeably cool water. Security was a major concern. Guest floors had no apparent access restrictions, balcony access was shared, and the lobby closed at 11 p.m., leaving no apparent staff presence overnight. Combined with some questionable guest activity we observed, this left us uncomfortable about the safety and security of the property. The walls were also extremely thin, making it easy to hear neighboring rooms. Toiletries included shampoo, soap, and body lotion, but no conditioner. For what we paid, this hotel was grossly overpriced. The location is convenient, but it doesn't make up for the cleanliness, maintenance, noise, and security issues. Based on our experience, we would not stay here again.

It was fourth of July weekend so all the airbnbs and typical hotels were booked up or too expensive. As a last ditch effort, we found Anchorage and booked it. I'm pretty bougie when it comes to hotels. One could even say I am high maintenance. I was a little skeptical of Anchorage but based on the reviews, I figured I could tough it out for a night. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly front desk staff. The parking lot had ample free parking - major bonus. The room itself definitely wouldn't be featured on HGTV but, despite being outdated, it was very clean. It even had a fridge and a microwave - something a lot of these higher end hotels don't even give you nowadays. The beds were a little hard but nothing I couldn't withstand for a night. The motel was quiet and clean and the staff were nothing but friendly. If you're planning a quick trip to Rehoboth and you're in a pinch, I'd recommend Anchorage. It might surprise you!

Plenty of counter space in the bathroom and lots of storage space in the room. The rooms were relatively spacious, compared to some of the newer hotels and motels. Rooms in the "hotel" section featured a flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, and microwave. Be prepared to bring an extension cord if you need to charge devices by your bedside, and an alarm clock if you need to see what time it is in the middle of the night because I couldn't find one in my room. Even though a clock might not be provided, the staff will provide an old-fashioned wake-up call -- just don't call them in the middle of the night as the front desk may not be manned after midnight!

It's across the canal from downtown Lewes and a few blocks away from the Lewes public beach. I was there before Memorial Day weekend. Their busy season had not started, yet. Staff was scarce and typically only available during the day. There wasn't anyone staffing the front desk in the evenings or throughout the night. What was surprising is that the hotel had me pay for my entire stay upfront, and not just registering me with my AMEX card. I was a bit surprised that they required that. I don't think I have had a hotel / motel require full payment upfront. I don't know if this is their usual practice. Room price was competitive for a touristy beach location. For amenities, the have an outdoor pool and lounging deck located on the second floor. Otherwise, fairly basic hotel. They did not offer a continental breakfast, but did have fresh coffee in the lobby in the morning. There weren't coffee makers in the rooms. Hotel has an inviting beach decor, but is dated. In fact, they were replacing carpets in the lobby when I was there. I was a bit surprised when I came down in the morning and found lobby area closed off. The installers did not appreciate that I walked through, but they also didn't leave me much choice. Staff were friendly when I crossed paths with them. Housekeeping only entered and cleaned my room once through the week. I was okay with that, as I didn't need much for the week. I did have to ask for additional soap and shampoo and they graciously provided it. My room was comfortable and clean. The wall air conditioning unit was quite noisy. I wouldn't be opposed to staying here, if back in the area in the future. Just a basic hotel, located near most of what Lewes offers and a reasonable price.
