We were spoiled. Point blank. Period. First off, Innkeepers, Shawn and Ingrid are amazing. Such warm and beautiful people, super down to earth, gracious, and fun! They always greeted us with smiles and always went above and beyond to ensure that all their guests were well taken care of. The property itself is beautiful. The newly remodeled inn is so inviting and has the perfect motif that draws you in to want stay. We stayed in the Henlopen room; beautiful beach themed, modern, spacious, and utterly gorgeous. The beds were a dream to sleep on and relax in. The amenities in the rooms, such as the robes, were a nice touch, not to mention the "make up" specific wash cloths. (Genius!) You can relax in the sitting room to chat near the fireplace or encouraged to sit on one of many wooden rocking chairs on the front porch to soak in the view of the swaying cornfields (when in season). I actually took the opportunity to enjoy some quiet time on the porch while indulging in some ice cream. It was a nice break away from busy California cities that I've grown up in. It was well needed. We had the pleasure to meet Ingrid's sister, Amy, who provides the delicious honey found as a complimentary bottle in each of the rooms. (Her jams/jellies are also just as spectacular on Ingrid's home made biscuits! Ask for the grape jelly.) We also had the opportunity of meeting her brother, whose dairy farm down the road attract crowds of people for his ice cream. This feeling of home is refreshing and we loved seeing and feeling the family dynamic that, I think, makes this place so unique. It's almost like you're staying at a dear friend's home and want to be around them all the time. Ingrid and Shawn's hospitality are unparalleled and after being there for a few days we were certainly spoiled. We cannot say enough great things about them. When you meet good people, you just know and these two certainly exude that in everything that they do. No other B&B's we've ever been to can compare to what these two have. We look forward to our next trip out to Delaware. We also hope to always be in touch with them and will always remember them as the ones who introduced us to lighting bugs, scrapple, and Moo Cookies. This is a great way to escape from the big city or the hustle/bustle of a busy life. - The innkeeper (Ingrid) and staff were awesome, friendly, and welcoming. - Breakfast was very tasty and fresh - The rooms were clean, new, and very well put together. - Ambience of the whole farm atmosphere was perfect. Never been to a B&B before and my first taste has been everlasting. We stayed in the Harvest room for 2 nights and our friends stayed in the Honey Bee room. I don't think you can go wrong with either room. Unfortunately the other 2 rooms were occupied so I could not investigate, but I assume they are lovely as well. The entire remodel of the house was excellent. Everything is clean and welcoming beginning with the innkeeper, Ingrid. Ingrid was perfect throughout our stay. She is friendly, engaging, respectful, and attentive without being overzealous or intrusive. When you check in, Ingrid gives you an overview of the site, describing the history of the Covered Bridge Inn building as well as the amenities available. There are a variety of treats to munch on throughout the day and there is always soda, water, coffee, and popcorn available. At night, ice cream is available from the Hopkins creamery. Breakfast is cooked each morning and although we will eat anything, Ingrid is sensitive to anyone with restrictive or particular diets. Everything I ate there was delicious, but I loved the scones and jam. The Harvest room itself is very nicely appointed. Super comfortable king bed with ample amount of pillows. I would have laid in here all day. There is Directv and WiFi available as well as a binder with information about the site. The bathroom is cozy, but is stocked with towels and various toiletries. Make sure you explore the grounds as there is a fire pit out back, a front porch with rocking chairs, and even a short designated trail to hike that also takes out by the RC Airplane field where a local club partakes. The only thing I was disappointed in was that she made strawberry french toast with bacon the day after we left. Sadness. Uber is readily available for anyone who doesn't want to drive to the local beaches. read more

Recently the Covered Bridge Inn hosted a wedding at which the bride, groom, and many guests tested positive for Covid about 5 days after the event There was absolutely no attempt to follow any of Delaware's rules for preventing Covid transmission and the CBI never asked the attendees to comply. Had this been a restaurant or Church, it would have been headline news. Until this venue agrees to provide a safe place for parties, everyone should be aware that they have no intention of providing a safe place. Whatever the party hosts wanted, the CBI did. There was no social distancing (they spread the tables out of bit, but each table was still packed, and the dance floor was packed and no masks were required. One wonders how many others were infected, got on planes and spread Covid around the country. There is no indication that the CBI has notified the guests of the infections. Selfishness by the wedding party and CBI is the only reason this happened. read more

This is pretty much how you do an INN from start to finish. Beautiful place, rooms and grounds. The host and her family are first rate from the vibe, breakfast, snacks, ice cream etc. You just get a great feeling from the whole thing. Take the dairy tour also..tons of fun. Nothing bad to say at all. Plus you feel like you are almost in the middle of nowhere but you are actually close to shopping, restaurants, the beaches etc. The rooms are decorated in a country but updated way, comfortable bed, Direct TV, wifi. The sitting area with fireplace is also great, warm, great place to grab a read. They also have little personalized touches for each guest. One other note, you know how when one person suggests an inn or B&B and the other person rolls their eyes thinking it will be boring and frilly? ( ok its usually a guy who has that thought) This place is none of that. This is the place to book where the guy will love it as much as a girl. In addition to all this, there is some great forest hiking right across the road. And seriously, after a full day of checking out the crowded/touristy Rehoboth beach area, shopping, biking, surfing or whatever you do, what is better then grabbing ice cream made on the farm, sitting on the porch and just chilling. Why anyone would stay at a hotel when this place is around is beyond me. read more

What a wonderful experience. I brought my wife and her friends out to rehoboth for a fun and relaxing weekend and this place knocked it out of the park. We got rear ended on our way over from Maryland and Ingrid worked with us to make sure our late check-in was easy and stress free. One quick email from us followed up by a very quick and polite response took off all of the pressure of trying to make up that time. When we arrived, Ingrid had our rooms ready and a wonderful selection of sweets and refreshments available in the dining area. We grabbed some local made icecream and then went up to our rooms. The ladies were In Love with the charm and design of every aspect of the house and decor. As someone who sees quite a lot of commercial construction, I was very impressed by the quality of their renovation efforts and the high quality of the facilities. The B&B has a wonderful country chic feeling emphasized by its location on the farm. My wife and I stayed in the Harvest Room. This room featured a wonderful chandelier that pictures can't really capture, a wonderful view of the fields in front of the B&B, a modern styled bathroom with a wonderful shower, and an exceptionally comfy bed. Our friends stayed in the Henlopen Room. This beachy themed room was perfect for them as it featured two very nice beds and neat bathroom featuring a garden tub and a barn style door. This room also featured a really cool chandelier and some really neat floor level windows that generated a lot of nice lighting. After a wonderful night of sleep, we cruised downstairs for Ingrid's made to order summer scramble with bacon. It was delicious! There were local jellies and honey for the wide variety of baked goods, some fruits, and of course the very convenient kuerig coffee maker to pair with the hot breakfast. After filling up, we took advantage of the Inn's great location to hit the beach. At around 10am, on a Saturday in mid-July, in the middle of a heat wave, the drive to rehoboth beach only took about 25 minutes from Inn to parking spot! Very easy drive that let's you sneak around a lot of the big traffic snares. I didn't check, but it seemed like a lot of the great Delaware beaches would have also been super accessible. After a great day in Rehoboth, we came back to the inn to chill and relax. While at dinner that night I had messaged Ingrid asking if she could put together a s'mores kit for the ladies and it was ready and waiting when we got back. We cruised out to the fire pit and quickly had a fire going with the provided starters, matches, and split wood. We lounged for hours in the comfy chairs before heading off to bed. After another great night of sleep, we met up downstairs and Ingrid greeted us with custom omelette breakfast. My omelette featured delicious tomatoes and crab meat and my wifes had peppers and ham. Ingrid also had some very welcome beverages available. In summary, we had a great stay! I have done a few rehoboth trips before and when I was planning this one, I was deciding between this B&B and hotels slightly closer to the beach and I have to say that I don't regret a thing. Wonderful rooms, wonderful food, a wonderful location, and wonderful service really made our whole trip a great combination of fun in the sun and gentle relaxation. My dear wife has already threatened me with requirements of return trips in the future! read more

This B&B is exemplary. I work in a high end establishment (The Peter Shields Inn in Cape May NJ), so trust I'm not exaggerating. The atmosphere is thoughtful and cozy, and Ingrid is the warmest, most welcoming innkeeper. She has created the ideal modern country B&B, and as our very first stay in any B&B, the bar has been set HIGH after that plush bed and the delicious FREE ICE CREAM. If you're looking for attention to detail as well as a great deal of guest independence, look no further. Seriously, a must visit experience. read more

This is hands down THE BEST B&B EVER!!! I am not kidding you the rooms are so inviting, the bedding is INSANE (yes I had to have her order the bedding for me is that wonderful - is a SLEEP EXPERIENCE).... The food - let me tell you that woman can COOK!!!! The view, the surroundings, the farm tour (YES YOU MUST MUST TAKE IT) that tour gave me an appreciation for the land that I never had before...Her family, her friends. Yes, I met them and they are the kindest, most sincere people you will ever meet. I stayed at the Covered Bridge Inn with my husband and small dog about 3 weeks ago. The rooms, house, and property are lovely and beautifully curated by Ingrid the Innkeeper. All spaces are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good and thoughtfully prepared and served with jam made by her sister. The ice cream is delicious and samples are available. The grounds are also well cared for and very nice to walk around and explore. Ingrid is in the process of making the barn useable for wedding receptions... if my husband and I hadn't already tied the knot we would absolutely look into renting the inn and grounds! My husband was thrilled to be in rural setting and we fully appreciated the experience and close proximity to Rehoboth Beach. We'll be back! read more

My husband and I have never enjoyed a more pleasant stay than the weekend we spent at the Covered Bridge Inn. We stayed two nights in the Hopkins Room. The charm of the 19th century farmhouse, the immaculately prepared rooms, and breakfasts fit for a gourmand melded to create the warmest of environments for a retreat. Innkeeper Ingrid was delightfully accommodating in all aspects; answering dozens of questions about the locality, its history and happenings, from shopping to birding. Her attention to detail is evident throughout, while preserving an intimate and personal experience for her guests. The only disappointment is that we couldn't stay longer. read more

This was truly an amazing experience! Ingrid has been so very thoughtful in every detail at the inn. You literally want for nothing because everything is provided down to sodas, bottled water, coffee, ice cream (homemade on the farm) and her wonderful cooking! There is always a snack waiting for you if you so desire. The rooms are so comfortable and you won't want to leave your bed (well until you smell breakfast being made). She is warm and caring and truly makes you feel like you are home. My husband and I, along with our wedding party, stayed at the Covered Bridge Inn for our wedding weekend. To say our stay was perfect would be an understatement. 5 stars can't capture all that Ingrid did to make our special weekend amazing. Leading up to our special day, Ingrid was in contact with us at the perfect times and made me feel so reassured. I knew that we had nothing to worry about with our stay (which for me means a lot because I am great at worrying!) From the moment we walked in the door, all of our stress and worries melted away. The details that Ingrid incorporated were phenomenal and made us feel so incredibly special. From champagne, to copies of the newspapers relating to our wedding, to the most delicious snacks and breakfasts, to the decorations we would come home to, to the best happy hour ice cream ever - it was all beyond amazing and wonderful!! Ingrid literally thought of everything and made our wedding so special and memorable. Words cannot express how much we appreciate Ingrid and her kindness and talent.
