I got there around 3:30 PM and there was no one there to help us check in. However, on the way I was told everything I needed to know to get in through the main door and into the room. There is a small private lot to park in plus the street is free for parking next to the building. I do not know if that becomes an issue in peak season but at least it wasn't a worry for now. The common area is super nice. It feels like being home. There was white and red wine out and soft drinks in the common fridge as well. The room itself was surprisingly large and comfortable. Everything was in place for a great stay - ample towels in the bathroom, instructions for everything including where to place used glasses and so on. Waking up breakfast was being made for any guests that wanted it. Banana pancakes with bacon and some grapefruit. It was nice to smell those smells before coming down to experience it! The only frustrating part was the initial booking. Since the single night could not be reserved online I needed to call. I was never able to call and get a person immediately. I always needed to leave a voicemail and wait for them to get back to me. Though I cannot say it was a big deal, it still does make for a bit of a hitch if you are trying to make last minute plans.

The room was always serviced when we returned in the afternoon. The breakfasts were so good and the chef, Marie, is delightful. The inn is walking distance to some great restaurants. We've stayed in a lot of places in the area and this was the best by far.

This faded quickly at the entry level with a strong smell of wet dog, followed by no cooling on the interior. The pictures on the internet are dated and things are cluttered now. The room I booked was not the room held, but since it was a weekday I could have my pick of the 3 front rooms, none of them the one I booked (?). The room was clean and there was AC that, when turned On, over time cooled the room down. During the night I was awakened by the heat and found the AC was not cycling On unless the ceiling fan was On (?). There are plentiful sugary and baked goods snacks and soda in the breakfast room for anytime. The fresh fruit though was over or under ripe. The morning coffee was not hot. Breakfast did happen and I was able to enjoy a wide selection of melon and berries with yogurt that was put out buffet style. The eggs requested, came pretty much as desired. The first morning I found out the free bike option was no longer available. I must have read about bikes in the reviews but now find they are no longer available in the fine print of the booking. My pleasure in staying here always fell short. I would have enjoyed a cookie cutter motel as much. I suppose I wanted the accommodation to be as attentive as the decor pictured. Then, as mentioned, the pictures are from some time in the past.

But the place was nice. The rooms itself were spacious and looked recently renovated. I liked that they are dog friendly and we had the dog package which had dog treats and dog bowl. Also coffee is available downstairs only in the mornings with no coffee maker in the room. So that was a drawback for me. But overall the town itself is nice with very friendly and welcoming people. I highly recommend this place. Also their beer soap is a too good. Must try!!

This was our first experience staying at a bed and breakfast, and it completely exceeded our expectations. One of the biggest highlights was how pet-friendly the property is. As pet parents, it can be difficult to find places where our fur baby is truly welcomed, and Lazy L made us feel right at home. It was so nice to be able to travel and enjoy the experience together as a family. The location is perfect, just about 10 minutes from town. The town itself is absolutely charming, with plenty of great restaurants, shops, and a welcoming atmosphere. We especially appreciated how pet-friendly the town was as well. The property has a huge backyard area where dogs can run and play. Looking back, I wish we had spent even more time out there with our pup. There are bugs, ticks, and fleas in the natural outdoor areas, so I recommend bringing bug spray and tick/flea protection for both yourself and your pets. If you forget, don't worry! The property is equipped with supplies for guests. We also enjoyed the pool and had a great time kayaking during our stay. Another highlight was taking our dog to Lewes Beach, which allows dogs after 6:30 PM. It worked out perfectly since the sun didn't set until around 8 PM. We stayed until about 9 PM, enjoying the beautiful sunset and the cooler evening temperatures, which made it much more comfortable for our fur baby. The breakfasts were delicious and something we looked forward to each morning. Most importantly, the hosts were amazing. They were warm, welcoming, and genuinely dedicated to making sure guests have a wonderful experience. We had such an incredible stay that we're already planning our next trip. In fact, I think this may become our annual summer getaway. We highly recommend Lazy L to anyone looking for a peaceful, welcoming, and pet-friendly escape.

When we arrived, we were given a room on the second floor that had an obstructed view. What the heck? We went back to the lobby and spoke with the receptionist and he changed us to a room on the fourth floor (402). That had a spectacular view of the canal and was the same price. So why didn't the first employee just offer it when we specifically asked for a room with a view and it was obviously unoccupied? Beats the heck out of me. The inn looks a little like a museum inside with its decorations and statues so if you like that sort of vibe, this would fit your needs. The bathtub is quite slippery which surprised me since most of the patrons staying here appear to be seniors. The room does have a mini fridge and has two complimentary water bottles which is nice. Their complimentary "European style breakfast" from 8-10 AM advertised on their website wasn't impressive at all. Be aware there are no hot foods. It's a few pastries, some fresh fruit, what looks like store made granola and individual yogurt cups, some bagels/toast. We are staying for two nights but you're missing nothing by eating breakfast elsewhere. I was still hungry after eating the meager breakfast provided. Super 8 would probably has a better breakfast. The front desk also leaves and/or stops answering the phones by 11 pm so if you have an overnight emergency or need, I think you're on your own. Overall, what you're paying for is the view (if you get even that) and proximity to the small downtown area. There is outdoor inn parking in a lot across the street. You do have to walk across the street and downhill to get from parking lot to the inn which could be hairy in rainy or snowy weather.

Easy walking distance to Lewes downtown restaurants, shops and historic sites. The Lewes beach is just under a mile from the hotel location. Outlet malls, Cape Henlopen State Park, Cape May - Lewes Ferry Terminal and Rehoboth Beach are all an easy drive. The location is ideal. My room was quite comfortable. Had all I could need with an amazing balcony and view of the canal. Someone had cranked the temperature low on the refrigerator. So, it froze items I had placed in it. Housekeeping was respectful of my privacy and diligent about servicing my room when I wanted it. Towels were soft. Bed was very comfortable. Wi-fi was fast. Room and outlaying areas were clean. The Inn offers a small fitness center with the basic equipment useful in doing strength as well as cardio exercise. A breakfast bar is included with your stay. It had a variety of fresh fruit, a couple yogurt flavors, a couple cereals and hard boiled eggs. There were pitchers of different juices, coffee thermoses, a selection of teas available. Breakfast breads and toast varied daily. Much of the breads were store bought type breads. It's a nice spread, but after a few days, I wanted something more. There are several local restaurants conveniently nearby serving breakfast menus that I also enjoyed.

The house contains rooms with private bathrooms and rooms on a floor with shared bathrooms. I was very hesitant to book at first when I read that I would have to "share" a bathroom. We just returned home after a 4 night stay here and we were more than satisfied! Tom, the house owner, is super kind, personable and hospitable. His other workers (Rayvn and Chris) are also so helpful and always get you what you need. You can request to have breakfast in the morning from a menu selection and they bring you your food out at the time you request to have it ready for you . Tom always came and checked up on us wherever we were sitting during breakfast to chat about random things, show us his puppy and ask us if we wanted more food or needed anything. The room we stayed in had a shared bathroom in the hallway (we stayed on the 2nd floor and other rooms shared 2 full baths and a half bath with us) and it was actually very clean. The staff did a good job replenishing towels each day and cleaning the shower/toilet/sink. Felt very comfortable here. We would love to try a room with a private bathroom (it was so booked up when we tried to get one initially so book way in advance!) I love that the beach was only a 4 minute walk and access to the main streets was only an alley walk away from the house. No complaints at all after this stay. When we sat out on the porch each morning and night, many people would walk by making comments about how pretty and interesting the establishment was. The interior of the house smells super good and is clean. Highly recommend staying here! Overall 5/5 stars and we will definitely be back next year
