My family and I were guests at The Tides, room 403 from 8/20/22 thru 8/27/22. We have been guests…read moreat The Tides for several years and always found the rentals to be well kept, a positive reflection of the individual owners of the condominium units. This was not at all the case on our most recent visit. Upon entry to the room we were greeted by a very strong musty odor, and stained wall-to-wall carpeting. We immediately told our children they were not to walk barefoot through the unit, not knowing what they might be stepping on. The general condition of the apartment was poor. Walls, doors and switches (especially in the bathroom) were filthy. At best the bathroom might compare to one you might find in a cheap motel. There was pubic hair and other matter on the floor. My wife and I cleaned the bathroom floor ourselves with supplies we had to purchase at the local grocery store. We also purchased plug-in air fresheners in an attempt to mask the odor of the unit. It's hard to believe this disaster of living quarters could be in such close proximity to the beautiful beaches of Cape May. We used the room only when we had to, avoiding it morning through night. In summary, the condition of room 403 is the equivalent of a fraternity house. The owner obviously doesn't care about her guests, rather collecting a $3,000 check from weekly renters without being bothered. Now for The Tides. A staff member admitted the room was "disgusting", but there is nothing they can do about it other than passing the information along to the owner. They do however advertise the room on their website, so I am challenging The Tides to do the right thing. In addition to the photos posted on their website, I would like to see the photos I took for this Yelp review added to the website for room 403. In all fairness, vacationers who have saved several thousand dollars to visit beautiful Cape May should know what they are spending their money on and not be deceived. In my opinion, if The Tides doesn't step up and let potential guests know the true condition of their rooms, they are just as unethical as the owner of room 403.

There is a Cafe on site where you can get lunch and dinner. Only ate there once but it seemed good enough. Parking spots are a little tight and you only get one so if you have two cars you will need to find another place to park. This is by far the nicest property in the Wildwoods, and it completely lives up to its name. I'm…read morenot sure how the developers managed to finagle the township to allow them to build such a grand monstrosity -- you can see The Grand all the way from Cape May -- but it most certainly is beautiful and very, very classy. I would almost dub it the South Beach or East Hamptons property of the Wildwoods, because it's going to cost you about the same amount to rent anything with an ocean view here. No expense was spared building The Grand. Every residence is palatial; Viking appliances, crown moulding in every room, beautiful hardwood floors, gorgeous decks and balconies -- it's probably nicer than your own home. They also have one of the only infinity pools I know of north of Florida, with the pool's eastern edge ending right where the ocean horizon begins. The developers also managed to purchase rights to the beach behind the property. You can now enjoy having their concierge service put out your chairs and umbrellas, take your stuff down to their private beach, and be served food and drink all day long via waiter service -- including alcohol. You may ask yourself, "how can they possibly serve alcohol on the beach in a dry town like Wildwood Crest?" Well, that's because The Grand sits just a few inches south of the Wildwood Crest border. It's technically in Diamond Beach. So let the good times flow, because those few inches make all the difference. The Grand is not without its few flaws. Most notably is the size of the pool. Compared to pools at other resorts of this size, it's tiny. And there's a limited number of chairs to lay out on. But that doesn't seem to be much of a problem because the beach is where the action is at. I personally cannot justify spending the kind of money that The Grand commands. I've dropped a lot of coin staying at similar places like Seapointe Village, Coastal Colors, and Ocean Towers, where your money will go a little further if you're on a budget. But if you have deep pockets and want to spend your money on the very best, do Wildwood in style and rent at The Grand.

I arrived just before 3:00, walked away from my car, and paid through the ParkMobile app which, of course, does not require you to physically stand next to your vehicle to pay. The only option was to pay in an 8-hour increment, so I paid for the full 8 hours even though I only needed to park for about 10 minutes. When I returned to my car at approximately 3:10, three people from the business were staring at me and there was a note left on my car. They told me I needed to pay for parking. I politely said, "Okay, thanks," and went to get into my car. One of them then felt the need to comment that they had my license plate number. I explained that I had already paid, but instead of simply accepting that, they were rude, dismissive, and acted as though they didn't believe me before storming back inside. I actually pulled up my ParkMobile app and showed them proof that I had paid. I paid for 8 hours of parking to be there for 10 minutes. There was absolutely no reason for the hostility or attitude. People are visiting Cape May to enjoy themselves and are perfectly willing to follow the parking rules. If you don't want the public parking in your lot, then perhaps you shouldn't partner with ParkMobile and offer paid public parking there. A little kindness and professionalism would have gone a long way. The entire interaction was unnecessarily unpleasant. 10/10 wouldn't recommend it there.
